43: Yoga Philosophy: Everything Can Be Understood Through These 3 Qualities
The Quietmind Membership opens for one week only next week! http://www.quietmind.yoga/membership to join the waiting list. Today I share a major topic Im teaching inside the Quietmind Yoga Teacher Training. At the core of yoga philosophy is Samkhya philosophy -- a lesser known and far less practiced philosophy that includes an understanding of creation based on 2 qualities: parusha and prakriti (something and nothing), similar to yin and yang, stirha and sukha and other pairs of opposites. From them comes the 3 gunas: sattva, rajas and tamas which I will share about today. Learning these three qualities completely changed my approach to life and practice. Everything can be understood through these three qualities, making it an essential part of yoga philosophy. Excited to share all about it with you on today's episode!. 40: How To Choose A Yoga Teacher Training In 2020: 15 Questions To Ask
Early registration is open now for the Quietmind Yoga Teacher Training at http://www.quietmind.yoga/qcenroll - Get an extra 1-1 session when you signup before Sunday! One of the most popular episodes here was "How to Choose A Yoga Teacher Training" all the way back 20000 years ago in Sept 2019. So much has changed since then, and I've heard from students who are really disappointed with their newly online trainings. I decided to have my Yoga Teacher Trainings be online even before the pandemic because I have found it to be a better learning environment when done well. In this episode I'll share about these 15 questions to ask when choosing an online Teacher Training in 2020. Who is leading it? What is the schedule? What styles will I learn? Have they done it online before? What is the curriculum? Is it all just on Zoom? / Is there an online classroom? A FB Group? Do you get to practice teaching? Or just one curriculum? What accountability is there? Are there any extra costs? Is there any required reading? How much does it cost? Are there payment plans? What are the requirements for certification? Is it well organized and fun? Is there business training? What does my intuition say?Contact: jeremy@quietmind.yogaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jeremy.quietmind/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/quietmindcommunity/YouTube: http://www.quietmind.yoga/youtubeQuietmind Yoga Podcast: https://www.quietmind.yoga/podcastsQuietmind Astrology Podcast: https://www.quietmind.yoga/podcastsYoga Teacher Training Podcast: https://www.quietmind.yoga/podcastsThrive Teaching Online Podcast: http://www.thriveteachingonline.comThanks for listening!Jeremy Devens

I'll share all about that today and why self care is the most important thing to focus on first and why many yoga teachers neglect this. I'll also share why 8 hour work days are not necessary or even effective for yoga teachers and how many hours I typically work in a day, and what I focus on. I'll address one of the more common mistakes I have seen among teacher that can lead to struggling to pay bills despite teaching all the time, and how I have created a life of only doing work I love while making a great living and being able to genuinely help others. 34: Tapas: 10 Yogic Practices To Build Discipline & Willpower
Watch the free workshop 6 Steps To Turn Your Idea Into An Online Yoga Business In The Next 90 Days at http://www.quietmind.yoga/6stepsHow do you build willpower, discipline and patience? This is one of the core teachings of yoga philosophy: Tapas. Tapas means all of those things plus intensity, passion and focus. We see it in the ascetic yogis who devote their lives to tapas practices like keeping one arm up in the air for their whole life. This is still happening in India to this day. Yogis who practice tapas teach us that we are capable of much more than the mind would let on. They can inspire us to challenge ourselves and grow. This follows the Niyama of contentment because it's important to embody both contentment and tapas. Stirha and sukha. Effort and ease.In today's episode I will share 10 yogic ways you can apply tapas to your life to increase your own willpower and discipline.
