145 How Coaching Transformed My Clinic: From Overwhelm to Success with Bruno De Jongh

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'Welcome 👋This week, I’m absolutely thrilled to bring you a truly inspiring conversation with one of my favourite people, Bruno De Jongh. Bruno’s been part of our Thrive community for over two years now, and his journey is nothing short of phenomenal. His energy is absolutely tonic, and I know you’re going to love hearing how he’s transformed both his business and his mindset. So, sit back, relax, and let yourself be inspired by what’s possible when you choose to step up and do the work!Episode Summary 💡In this episode, I chat with Bruno about his journey from chaos and overwhelm to clarity, confidence, and control in his business. We talk openly about the struggles he faced, feeling stuck, not knowing his numbers, and the anxiety that comes with running a busy clinic without structure. Bruno shares how joining Thrive (and actually engaging with it!) was the turning point that helped him shift his mindset, implement real strategies, and become the empowered business owner he is today. We dive into the importance of showing up, taking action, and embracing discomfort as the path to growth. Bruno gets real about the personal changes he’s made too, letting go of distractions, working on self-worth, and learning to delegate so he can focus on his strengths. It’s a conversation packed with honesty, practical advice, and a big dose of encouragement for anyone feeling overwhelmed or stuck in their business right now.Key Takeaways ✨You’re not alone: Whatever you’re struggling with, someone else has been there. Community and support are game changers.Mindset matters: Real change starts with how you think about yourself and your business. Working on you is just as important as working on your strategy.Action over perfection: It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about showing up, being present, and taking the next step.Embrace discomfort: Growth only happens when you’re willing to get a bit uncomfortable and try new things.Delegate and focus: Lean into your strengths and let others handle what drains your energy, your business will thank you for it!Resources & Links 🔗Find out more about Thrive and our coaching programmes: https://thrive-businesscoaching.com/programs/Want to chat about your clinic? 144 How to Make Your Clinic Compliant: Essential Compliance Tips for Physio and Health Business Owners

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'“If we are not investigated, why do I need to be compliant?”Welcome back to the Treat Your Business podcast! I’m Katie, and in this episode, I’m diving into the world of compliance, why it matters, even if you’re not being audited or investigated, and how you can make it a real strength in your clinic. I’m joined by the brilliant Sarah and Sandra from HCPG, who are experts in helping clinic owners like us plug the gaps and build solid, safe businesses without any judgement. If you’ve ever felt unsure about what you need in place or worried you’re missing something crucial, this conversation is for you.Episode Summary 📝Today, I chat with Sarah and Sandra about all things compliance. We talk about why so many physios and clinic owners put compliance on the back burner, especially when no one is checking up on us. Sarah explains how the current system allows physios to fly under the radar and why that can be risky. Sandra shares her experience from running private practices and working in the NHS, and together they highlight why having solid compliance foundations is just like building a house, you might not see the value straight away, but you’ll absolutely sleep better at night knowing everything is safe and secure. We also dig into the real reasons compliance slips down the to-do list, how patient expectations have shifted since COVID, and why most people who seek help are much less compliant than they thought (and that’s completely normal!). The big message? It’s never too late to get support and start making small changes.Key Takeaways ⭐Compliance isn’t just about ticking boxes or having policies on a shelf, it’s about understanding what you have and how to use it.Most clinic owners have more gaps than they realise, but getting support is the best first step.Patient expectations are higher than ever, and being able to evidence your compliance is essential.Don’t rely on generic or AI-generated policies, make sure you actually understand your processes and can demonstrate them. It’s normal to feel nervous about asking for help, but Sarah and Sandra are truly supportive and not here to judge.Small, simple changes can make a huge difference to your business and your peace of mind.Resources & Links 🔗Book a call with Sarah and Sandra: www.hcpg.co.ukEmail: sandra@hcpg.co.uk or sarah@hcpg.co.ukIf you’re listening and thinking, “This is me, I need to pull my head out of the sand,” don’t put it off. 143 Right People, Wrong Seats: How to Build a Stronger Clinic Team

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'WelcomeHello and welcome to the Treat Your Business Podcast. I’m Katie Bell, and this week I’m diving into a situation that so many clinic owners face, what to do when you realise you’ve got the right person, but they’re in the wrong seat, or perhaps the wrong person in the right seat. It’s something I see all the time in our Thrive community, and it’s a challenge every growing business has to navigate. 🌱Episode SummaryIn this episode, I’m sharing why team churn is so common as we grow and why it’s not always a bad thing. I talk about the early days of hiring, when you just need someone with a pulse!, and how, as your business grows, it’s vital to focus on getting the right people in the right seats. I introduce the GWC framework (Get it, Want it, Capacity to do it) from the Entrepreneurial Operating System, and I break down how to analyse your team, set your cultural bar, and have those tough but essential conversations when someone’s not quite fitting. I also share my own experiences of getting this wrong, what I’ve learned, and why intentional culture creation is the real key to sustainable growth.Key TakeawaysYour business will only grow as far as the strength and alignment of your teamIt’s normal to outgrow team members or find they’re no longer the right fitUse the GWC framework to analyse roles and people: do they get it, want it, and have the capacity?Setting a clear bar for your values and culture helps you make objective decisionsDon’t avoid the hard conversations—leadership means making decisions with empathy and clarityRegularly review your accountability chart and delegate where possible so you can focus on growthResources & LinksSponsored by VBS Medical Limited: Exclusive distributors of K Laser and Indi A therapy in the UK and Ireland. 140 Why a green and a yellow may clash and what to do about it.

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'WelcomeHello and welcome back to the Treat Your Business Podcast! I’m Katie Bell, and today I’m flying solo for a little mini episode that dives into a brilliant question from one of our coaching clients. If you’re a leader who needs to be liked and sometimes finds those tough conversations a bit daunting, this episode is especially for you.Episode SummaryThis week, I’m unpacking what happens when your leadership style, especially if you’re a classic “yellow” like me - meets a team member with a completely different vibe, like a “green.” I’ll walk you through a real-life scenario from a client who’s just welcomed a new physio to her team and is already feeling the clash of personalities and communication styles. We’ll talk about colour profiling, strengths testing, and why your values-led culture matters more than ever when onboarding new staff.Key Takeaways✨ Everyone brings a unique communication style and energy to the team, and that’s not only okay, it’s essential for growth.✨ “Yellows” (the visionaries and cheerleaders) thrive on warmth, connection, and harmony, while “greens” value order, routine, and deep one-to-one relationships.✨ If you’re feeling a disconnect with a new team member, it’s not about fixing them, it’s about mutual understanding, setting clear expectations, and allowing time for trust and rapport to build.✨ Boundaries aren’t a red flag, they’re often a sign of strong values and self-awareness.✨ Onboarding should be structured, values-led, and include regular check-ins, weekly at first, then moving to biweekly and monthly.✨ Your job as a leader is to be a bit of a chameleon, adapting your communication to suit the person in front of you, without losing sight of your own values or expectations.✨ Don’t be afraid to have direct, open conversations. Conflict doesn’t have to mean confrontation, it’s about clarity and honesty.Resources & LinksEnrolment now open for Sept EVOLVE Programme: https://join.thrive-businesscoaching.com/evolve-sept25 Final ThoughtsRemember, culture is everything. As you get clearer about your values and who you are as a leader, you’ll spot who fits and who doesn’t. Don’t be afraid of change, and don’t shy away from those honest conversations. The strongest teams are open, transparent, and built on shared values. Thanks for tuning in to this short, bite-sized episode. Thrive Through Summer Bonus EP04: Summer Retention Strategies

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'WelcomeWelcome to the final episode of the Thrive Through Summer bonus series! I’m Katie Bell, and it’s been such a joy to walk alongside you this month as we tackled everything from mindset shifts to pre-selling strategies and leading your team while you take a well-earned break. Today, we’re wrapping up with one of the most practical (and profitable) topics of all: how to keep your clients coming back, even when the weather’s hot, the kids are off school, and your diary feels upside down.Episode SummaryLet’s be honest - the “summer slowdown” is real, but it’s not inevitable and it’s definitely fixable. In this episode, I share my tried-and-tested strategies to boost client retention during the summer months, so you’re not starting from scratch every September. We’ll cover why retention is the foundation of sustainable revenue, how to nurture clients who already know and trust you, and the exact scripts and processes I use in my own clinic to reduce cancellations, increase loyalty, and keep bookings steady - even while you’re enjoying a break.Key Takeaways🌞 Retention is gold - especially in summer. It’s cheaper than acquisition, builds loyalty and referrals, and stabilises your cashflow.📅 Use the pre-book prompt: Get clients to book their return appointment before they go on holiday. Build this into your scripts and reminders for consistency.📲 Re-engage past clients: Pull a list of those who haven’t booked in 3–6 months and send a warm, personal message (bonus points for voice notes or video!).🎯 Celebrate progress: Keep clients engaged with mini milestones and check-ins, so they stay on track and don’t drop off until September.💌 Stay visible: Schedule helpful emails, social posts, and “thinking of you” videos to keep your clinic top of mind—even when you’re away.🎁 Reward loyalty: Surprise and delight your most consistent clients with a thank you, mini challenge, or giveaway.⭐ Less is more: Focus on what will make the biggest impact for your clinic right now, don’t try to do it all.Thank you for listening! Here’s to a summer where your business works for you, not the other way around. I hope you’ve enjoyed this mini series and feel ready to put client retention on autopilot. I’d love to hear what you’re implementing, and as always, I’m here to support you in building a thriving clinic and a life you love. 139 Coaches Corner: Breaking Old Habits and Leaning Into Growth

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'Welcome to this week’s episode of the Treat Your Business podcast. Today I’m joined by two of Thrive’s fabulous coaches, Philippa and Jodie. This week, we’re talking about something I hear all the time from clinic owners, when things get tough, it’s so easy to slip back into “I’ll just do it myself.” We see it at every level, whether you’re running a solo clinic or leading a big team. Your old habits and your ego want to keep you safe, but they also keep you stuck. What’s inside this episode:Philippa shares a real story about a client who wanted to jump back into sales when conversions dipped, instead of trusting her team.Jodi talks about wearing all the hats, that fear of letting go, and why it’s so tough to delegate.I’ll be honest - I’ve had moments where I wanted to run away from my numbers too. But facing up to the truth is where real change starts.Key takeaways:You’re not alone. Every clinic owner has wanted to run away at some point.Your comfort zone feels safe, but nothing grows there.Knowing your numbers gives you power, even when it’s uncomfortable. You cannot do it all yourself. Delegating is hard but necessary.Community matters. Surround yourself with people who get it.If you’re feeling overwhelmed or ready to give up, you’re not failing, you’re on the edge of growth. Take a breath, be honest about what’s tough, and remember you can do hard things, and you don’t have to do them alone.Thank you to Philippa and Jodi for joining me, and thank you for listening. 138 Are You the Fox or the Hedgehog?

I'd love to hear from you 'text the show'🎙️ The Hedgehog Concept: Finding Your Clinic’s One Big ThingWelcome back to the Treat Your Business podcast! I’m Katie Bell, physio, clinic owner, and founder of Thrive. If you’re feeling pulled in a million directions, constantly chasing shiny objects, and struggling to focus your energy, this episode is for you.Today, I’m diving into a powerful concept that’s changed the way I think about strategy: the Hedgehog Concept from Jim Collins’ legendary book, Good to Great. This isn’t my own strategy, but it’s one I truly believe can transform how you approach your clinic and your business.🦔 Are You a Hedgehog or a Fox?The fox knows many things, darting about with endless strategies, but the hedgehog knows one big thing and does it brilliantly. In business, it’s easy to be the fox - adding services, following the latest fads, and trying to be everything to everyone. But real success comes when you simplify, focus, and build your business around your one big thing.🔍 The Three Circles of the Hedgehog Concept:What are you deeply passionate about? What truly lights you up in clinic life? Is it helping women regain confidence post-birth, supporting chronic pain patients to reclaim their lives, or coaching your team to excellence? What can you be the best in the world at?You can’t be the best at everything, but you can carve out a niche where you consistently deliver exceptional results. What drives your economic engine?Which service or offer is most profitable and scalable for your clinic? Sometimes passion and skill don’t align with profit, but when all three circles overlap, that’s where your true momentum lives.💡 My Challenge to You:Block out 30 minutes, either for yourself or with your team, and reflect on these three circles. Draw your Venn diagram and find your centre. That’s your hedgehog. Build your business around it, refine it, and let it guide your decisions. Remember: the most successful clinic owners aren’t those doing the most, but those doing the right things for the right people in the right way.If this episode resonated, please share it with another clinic owner who’s ready to find their focus and build a business that truly thrives.
