#86: Frank Tufano on Ancestral Nutrition, Fighting Anti-Meat, His Carnivore Diet & much more!
We’ve got the YouTube star Frank Tufano on the podcast today. He’s known for his mostly raw Carnivore nose-to-tail diet, his entertaining videos taking down vegan propaganda, his deep nutritional knowledge and his ancestral appreciation to living optimally within our modern day lives.
People that follow me on social know I can get triggered by the bombardment of vegan propaganda, and that I oppose the plant-based arguments posed around nutrition, animal suffering, and sustainability. That I feel we are all being duped for the benefit of profits and flawed ideology.
So in a world with increasing noise, fanfare and pseudo-science around the the Vegan diet, there is a need for two things. One, for useful and true nutritional information regarding the historical and current values of animal-nutrition to reach us, and two, for many informed individuals to stand up against the dis-information of the Anti-Meat & Vegan Propaganda that spreads like wildfire, gets blindly accepted as fact, and lives in perpetuity.
But more than that, you need relatability. You need to meet this demographic where they hang out. And you need to be likeable, entertaining and non-apologetic about ruffling some feathers... whilst also being a trusted authority with integrity.
That’s what you get with Frank Tufano.
This is what we discuss:
🔸Frank's beginning- Being a triplet, ridden with health issues, building his YouTube channel & getting nutritionally educated
🔸Where Frank gets his passion from?- Why does he care so much about fighting a losing battle?
🔸Frank’s uniqueness & experiments- How Frank is a canary in the coal mine with intolerances, and some wacky self-experiments
🔸Challenging the Status Quo and Veganism- the struggles to get the truth out when it goes against everything we ‘know’, and why anti-vegan dialog is important for us all.
🔸Frank’s ancestral living, logical and nutritional context- and how appreciating all three helps him find confidence
🔸Ignorance of how food gets on our plates- and how this disconnect is causing much of the ideological battles
🔸Modern-Day Plant Food vs Wild Ancestral Plant Food- and what Frank thinks about consuming domesticated plant foods
🔸Franks issues with the rise in Fake Meat- Discussing the perception, ingredients and the ethics.
🔸The underlying tenants of a BAD Modern Diet- Frank talks through the issues that need eliminating, reducing or upgrading
🔸Frank’s pragmatism on Plant Foods and Processed foods- His flexibility, what his family eat and his personal risk management tolerance
🔸What is in Frank’s Carnivore Nose-to-tail mostly raw diet?- Staples, preparation approaches and occasionals
🔸Eating raw Organ Meats- What you need to know, and why people can get sick with introducing new foods
🔸Franks Blood Work and Markers- Frank shares all his blood results, including risk factors and surge in testosterone
🔸Are there any nutritional gaps in Frank’s all-meat diet?- Would he benefit from eating certain plant foods? What about antioxidants?
🔸What Frank dislikes about the Carnivore messaging and community- and what needs to be done to make meat-dominant diet(s) more accessible and socially acceptable.
Also, there are loads of valuable nutrition knowledge bombs peppered throughout! Things on cholesterol, animal-only nutrients, vegetable oils, MTHFR, nutritional synergy, omega 6’s, Vitamin D and much more.

#85: The Journey to Intuitive Wellness (& more!) ~Sal Di Stefano, Mind Pump
Sal Di Stefanois the lead host of the incredible and hugely popular health, fitness & lifestyle podcast show Mind Pump. With 22+ years experience and wisdom, Sal combines forces with Adam and Justin to make the most entertaining, original, raw and real podcast on all things to do with getting in shape, sharpening your mindset, being well and generally navigating modern life.
Mind Pump & Sal inspired AdapNation’s creation, so it was a true privilege to be speaking with one of the Podcast Host greats. You’ll probably sense some of Steve’s fan boy love coming through!
We cover sooooo much in this chat. The theme of the discussion is really about finding a place of intuitive wellness and wellbeing, and Sal navigating us through his learning and journey from an muscle-obsessed kid through to a jacked but ill 30 year old, and now to having the whole package of physique, wisdom and great health.
Sal drops so many pearls of wisdom. You’ll love his appreciation for traditional wisdom, his intuitive approach to wellness, and his great analogies.
DISCLAIMER: Steve was REALLY ill at time of recording. Energy was a little low as a result. We used this episode to unpack what might be going on given his recent diet interventions. It was pretty fascinating to discuss and explore with the audience and Sal - and goes to show the value of being open minded, being comfortable being vulnerable, and seeking opinions from others.
P.S. I (Steve) was back to full strength shortly after recording, bar the weird persistent hand peeling thing. I changed nothing at all. Odd - or just a flu/virus thing that came out of nowhere. The mysteries of the human body...
Here’s the range of topics we discuss:
🔸Getting to know Sal & Mind Pump - The objectives of Mind Pump, Sal’s relationship with weight and muscles since 12 years old, his body rebelling against him at 30, and his journey to nutritional and wellness intuition
🔸The Unknown Unknowns of Wellness and Longevity - The complexity of human metabolism and the need to re-learn behaviours and value tradition/evolution
🔸Can you have Wellness & a Great Physique? - How Sal has navigated these two seemingly conflicting goals, and how being health looks great
🔸The Life-Changing Effect of Training - Sal talks about the mindset shift and life value when you shift from outcome focussed to enjoying the process.
🔸Valuing Wisdom over Knowledge - Hearing Sal explain the two, and why he favours wisdom the anger he goes at this
🔸The benefits of simplifying your life - Detachment from modern pressures and needs and freedom of not identifying with stuff.
🔸Power of Fasting - From food and digital. All the benefits Sal sees from including a fasting practice in your life
🔸Total Value of a Food Choice - how Sal thinks about his food choices, and how eating HEALTHY is incredibly enjoyable for him. Hedonism vs the whole package.
🔸Intuitive Eating & Listening to Your Body - how Sal has arrived at this place and the diversity of Bio-individuality
🔸Sal’s thoughts on Meat-Dominant and Low-Plant diets - as it relates to health and wellness? Is he comfortable with the claims?
🔸The Universal Truths of a Healthy Diet - There are a wild variety of ways that we can eat and be healthy. The commonality is...
🔸Steve’s Poor Health ‘Episode' - Is it a Diet deficiency, Diet incompatibility, bacterial overgrowth or… toxicity dumping?
🔸Preparing Kids for the Future - Sal’s Duties and Priorities in helping his Kids be ready for an uncertain future

#84: Entraining these SMALL Habits for GREATER Wellbeing ~Bryn Jenkins
Almost in every AdapNation episode, we attempt to take a BIG chunk out of one very specific subject, with the goal of deep thinking and exploring together. To double-click and really get intimate with the issue and solutions.
This episode is different. This episode is about all the SMALL things, that when stitched together make a BIG difference to physical and mental wellbeing.
Bryn and Steve have a casual conversation where they call out the habits they have either mastered or are currently working on developing. For an easy going chat, you’ll be surprised how many habit they share, as well as some of the problems they are both trying to work on within their lives to increase their health and wellbeing.
The reality is, no one is perfect. We may ‘know’ what we should do, but 100% execution against your plan and standards is not possible. Balls get dropped. Some days are a bit meh. We’re all human.
Hopefully this conversation lets you in to the many imperfections of Bryn and Steve, combined with the honesty and commitment to ever optimise and improve. To #BeYourBest - one day at a time.

#83: Crazy LCHF Body Fat Experiment (!) & Healing the UK ~Sam Feltham
The movement of Low Carb Real Food dieting approaches is being embraced globally by health professionals who are seeing incredible results with their patients.
As progressive healthcare and health-conscious individuals look to more deeply understand the mechanisms of Diabetes, Obesity, Insulin Resistance, Heart Disease, Hypertension and generally Metabolic Syndrome, many are landing on the idea that current lifestyle diseases are being triggered and fuelled by chronically elevated Insulin levels.
Sam Feltham is one many UK-based health professionals who is attempting to educate and influence the British (and Global) Healthcare System into considering the LCHF way of eating as a highly effective approach to treating Diabetes, Obesity and other associated modern diseases.
Sam comes with his own super interesting story. He used his own body to show the HUGE variance in body composition, waist measurement, digestive health and sense of wellbeing when comparing a Low Carb Real Food, Low Fat Processed Food and Low Fat Vegan Diet against one another. The results of his well controlled and intelligently designed n=1 experiment are staggering, and totally break our conventional wisdom that 'a Calorie is a Calorie’ when it comes to weight loss!
Sam is a force for good. He has setup and directs a educational charity called Public Health Collaboration, where the goal is to introduce our UK NHS as well as the public to the idea of treating modern western diseases with a Low Carb approach, as well as reclaiming your body and wellbeing. Through his philanthropic efforts so far, he has already made a difference, but it’s just the start. There is A LOT to do. Decades of generational wisdom to compete with.
So, if you’re curious as to what this crazy body fat experiment is about, Sam’s hypothesis behind the benefits of a LCHF diet, and want some real world references that make the discussion hugely relevant… then absolutely do listen in.
Here’s what we discuss:
1️⃣ Sam Feltham’s Journey - From snowboarding & bootcamps, to podcaster and charity director
2️⃣ The Body Fat Experiment Design - Pitting 5700kcal LCHF vs Low Fat Processed Food vs Low Fat Vegan Real Food
3️⃣ Body Fat Experiment: Weight & Waist results - Be ready to be confused!
4️⃣ Body Fat Experiment: Energy, Mood, Digestion, Symptoms - How Sam felt between the 3.5 dieting approaches
5️⃣ Why The Crazy Results? - Discussing hormones, Biochemical disruption, value of macronutrients in body, removal vs storage of excess energy...
6️⃣ Steve’s LCHF Meat-Dominant Anecdote - How Steve is struggling for the first time to bulk on a massive 4300kcal budget
7️⃣ High Carb and/or Vegan Diet Approaches - Sam discusses the common hormonal dis-regulation issues seen in these diets long term
8️⃣ The Data suggesting a High Fat diet is to be embraced - Discussing the Virta study, Israeli high fat study and Diabetes.co.uk backed Low Carb Program results
9️⃣ We’re following or surpassing the Nutritional Guidelines! - Sam shares stats that demonstrate high compliance, yet increasingly poor health outcomes

#82: Veganism vs All, or Big Food vs Real Food?
Food is so political and emotionally charged, albeit we don’t often stop to realise just how engulfed food actually is with politics. The reality is, food availability, production and choice has been a driving force behind a lot of our historical disputes and conflict.
However, it does feel that the debate around food is reaching fever-pitch, and this is largely driven by the popularity and well-organised messaging of the growing vegan community.
And whilst debate is healthy and necessary to advance and create better solutions, the vegan propaganda fuelled more by ideology and questionable / fallacious ‘facts’ is creating an incredible divide and hurtful judgement and social pressure. Where belief is the driving force - not real-world practical evidence and workable solutions.
So, in this podcast Steve and Bryn look to answer the question “Should it be Veganisim vs All other choices, or should it be Big Food vs Real Food?”. Is a Vegan life and diet the Elixir for life that we are lead to believe, or is there an alternative future that delivers more goodness to humans, the planet and drives out suffering of living creatures?
This podcast looks to break down the Vegan argument and recommendations, offers a counter position, and then closes on a list of Steve’s recommendations that in his opinion would deliver a better outcome on all levels.
Here’s what we discuss:
1️⃣ Gym Influence on nutrition & the Protein Challenge - Bryn explores the impact gym owners have on peoples health via nutritional choices, and the protein deficiency issues.
2️⃣ Vegan as the ‘Holy Grail’?- The best, kindest and healthiest. Is that true? Are you wrong to be an omnivore?
3️⃣ The BIG issues - What are the big issues we are grappling with today with our food systems?
4️⃣ What is REAL food? - Steve offers his view on the definitions between real food vs processed food. The proliferation of vegan processed food.
5️⃣ Abundant Choice and Processed Food proliferation - Do we need an anti-capitalist response? Is all the production necessary to survive and thrive?
6️⃣ We’re already on a Plant -Dominant diet- We dissect the average diet that seems to be failing us as a species
7️⃣ Observing our Primal Instincts - Talking about what people do when on reality survival shows
8️⃣ Is nature really that cruel? - Why does the ‘elixir of life’ get rejected by kids, cause gut issues, and send us on a spiralling decline of health?
9️⃣ Attempting to Out Do Nature - We are we fighting against nature? Why the need for this god-like control - assuming we know best for human health, versus nature itself?
🔟 Everyone has Blood On Their Hands - Plant Agriculture is not innocent. How Monocrops cause massive destruction to life and the planet
#️⃣ How can Feeling So Good be So Wrong? - Exploring the healthy, energy, physique, mood and enjoyment outcomes of a diet with animal-nutrition. Is nature really that twisted?
🍽 Steve’s Diet Decisions & Recommendations - With optimal nutrition, least suffering and nourishing the planet in mind, Steve’s shares his controversial diet decisions for his family

#81: Brian Sanders: Exposing The Food Lies & Optimal Human Nutrition
It’s time to UNLEARN Nutrition!
We're quickly coming to realise that much of what we’ve been taught and recommended when it comes to food is wrong. Many people believe we are doing the complete OPPOSITE to what is considered optimum human nutrition!
What?! Yep - there are many many motives at play that drive the messaging and supply of food, and most of these motives are not in support of you and I.
To explore this controversial but fascinating idea, we have the very talented Brian Sanders onto the Podcast. Brian quit his engineering career to commit his life to exploring and sharing the truth about nutrition, and to call out all the lies we’ve been told about food for the last 100 years.
Brian runs a very popular and compelling Podcast called Peak Human, and is soon to be releasing the product of his life's work - a feature film called Food Lies. A film looking to correct all the manipulative wrongs of documentaries such as Cowspiracy, What The Health and Fork Over Knives.
Brian is a rare breed. He combines smarts, curiosity, tech skills, film skills, critical thinking and a deep passion to fight against manipulation and the mistakes that are making us fatter and sicker. He combines and connects the wisdom of 100’s of deep specialists in the various ares of expertise from books, his interviews, his filming and personal anecdote, to create a unique and all encompassing view of what are the optimal nutritional principles for human health. Oh, and they aren’t what you’ve been told!
I’m sure you’ll love this discussion, and should learn a bunch along the way. We make extensive references to other people and podcasts, which you can see below. Now, get strapped in and get ready to have your paradigm shattered!
Here’s what we discuss:

2️⃣ Chronic Disease is not normal, nor is it chronic - Change your diet and taking back what human health should be

4️⃣ We’re fat yet malnourished! - What are the reasons for this paradox? How can we have such abundance yet have so little good health?
5️⃣ Plant vs Animal Nutrition - How we’ve got it backwards. Discussing nutrition density and bioavailability, protein needs and toxicity
6️⃣ We're kidding ourselves! We’re too gullible - Forgetting our evolutionary backdrop of 2 million years and thinking we can change everything and find a new elixir for life. Where has sceptical critical thinking gone in normal day-to-day life?
7️⃣ We live in an Era of Disinformation - If we repeat a lie enough times, we believe it as fact. Generational wisdom. But what lies are we talking about?
8️⃣ A Crazy insane man… until people realise the truth - How difficult it is for Brian and peers to offer their breakthroughs without being institutionalised. Do we have Paradigm Paralysis?
9️⃣ What’s the Optimal Human Diet - Brian shares the SAPIEN framework. A few basic principles that have been forgotten for far too long. (See below for teaser)
🔟 There is no such thing as Essential Carbs - Our bodies need essential Proteins and Fats to function. But do we need carbohydrates to be human?

#79: Our Human Evolutionary Mismatch! with Dr Stephen Hussey
As I continue on my journey of leading the best life possible, a common theme seems to keep coming up time and again. EVOLUTION.
More specifically, it seems to be that it’s the Evolutionary Mismatch which is at the root cause of all our physical health, mental health and environmental issues we suffer with today. Through technology, power, money and the desire to control everything (including life and death itself), we’ve stumbled so far off the beaten track that we have alien-like new world views that ignore the prior 2 million years of human evolution.
As a theme that has and will continue to feature as part of AdapNation’s messaging, we explore this idea of Evolutionary Mismatch with Dr. Stephen Hussey in this episode.
Stephen is an American Chiropractor, a Functional Medicine Practitioner, Health Coach and Author. He’s got an interesting story of suffering with many illnesses and auto immune conditions including Type 1 Diabetes as a young child, and how through his realisation to return to a lifestyle that nature intended that his health drastically changed for the better. What changed Stephen’s health was the eureka moment of realising he had a huge Evolutionary Mismatch in his current environment, lifestyle and nutrition...
If you want to develop your framework for understanding this key concept, want to know more about the value of proper movement as it relates to health, and would like some key takeaways on how to improve your wellbeing, then this episode is worth checking out. Oh, and if you like touching third rail ethically charged topics too… then you need to get involved!
Here’s what we discuss:
1️⃣ Stephen's myriad of health struggles from 2 years old, and how lifestyle and traditional medicine failed him
2️⃣ How Stephen addressed most of his illness and allergies through changing his nutrition and lifestyle choices
3️⃣ His Four Penny Dropping Realisations - Natural Selection, Homo Genus Lineage, Slowness of Evolution & Inability to Adapt to Rapid Environmental Changes
4️⃣ Equal human capability? - With the pressures of natural selection, is it right to expect equal opportunity and capability for every human?
5️⃣ Our obsession with avoiding death at all costs - Are we attempting to assume a divine role in nature? Is it realistic to have so many net-consumers?
6️⃣ Are we Devolving as a species due to our nutrition and lifestyle choices?
7️⃣ The Evolutionary Movement Disconnect - Joint nutrition deficiencies, Joint toxic-induced degeneration, reduced mobility, improper and insufficient motion
8️⃣ Practical tips on how to better align with our innate needs for proper human movement and align with our evolutionary biological preference
9️⃣ The tainted rep & real value of Chiropractic Services - exploring why the practice has been previously dismissed, and what the real role and value of Chiropractics is. Much more than adjustments...
🔟 A new Framework for evaluating lifestyle choices - Evolution. What have we evolved to do for the 99.95% of our history, prior to the industrial revolution?

#78: Dr. Paul Saladino - Carnivore Diet for Optimal Wellness (part 2 of 2)
NOTE: This is Part 2 of 2. Check out Episode #77 for Part 1.
Have you noticed the emergence of the Carnivore Diet as of late? Is it a deliberate culture clash with the Vegan Community, a naive and neanderthal chest-beating F’ you to sustainability, animals, and human health, or just an excuse to eat the foods we like?
Or, is there something to it? Dr. Paul Saladino combined with a burgeoning cohort of respectable doctors, scientists, anthropologists and nutritionists thinks there is. And it’s not just the academics - there is an expanding community of tens of thousands of every day people that were once sick, overweight and dealt the death blow of autoimmune and chronic disease who are thriving! What gives?!
Be prepared to be blown away!
Dr Paul Saladino attempts to shatter the nutritional paradigms on optimal health, meat, plant-based nutrition and our evolutionary biological preference to thrive. Paul believes, backed up with with encyclopaedic knowledge and tons of scientific facts, that Humans are actually FACULTATIVE CARNIVORES.
That we evolved to be the number one species on the planet due to a Carnivorous diet feeding our explosive brain development, and that our body and biology leaves many clues that we’ve adapted to be carnivores who in times of desperation and starvation could tolerate low doses of plant-based foods.
WHAT!?!?!
BIG super important topic. As a result, this 2h convo is broken into two parts. Here’s what you can expect to hear across both:
