Hyrum Erickson is a Republican Precinct Committeeman in district 34 and an avid supporter of Prop 1, Idaho’s Open Primary and Rank Choice Voting initiative. He feels deeply that the majority of Idaho’s voting public not only is shut out of all elections of any real consequence, but also that almost 90% of voters in Idaho are of no consequence to those running for public office and are therefore neglected almost completely. He sees open primaries and rank choice voting as a way to address this problem. Rod Beck is one of three Ada County Commissioners and also the original driving force for closed primaries in the state of Idaho. Idaho had open primaries until 2012, at which point we went to a closed primary system. He is also not a fan of Rank Choice Voting as he sees several potential problems with voter education and implementation.
