20220701 Nicole Sandler Show - Pre-Fourth Friday Singalong with Lauren Mayer

Today is the Friday before the long Fourth of July holiday weekend and I don't know about you, but I'm ready to tune out the news and try to de-stress after the past week... year.... 5 years... You get the idea. The best medicine, they say, is laughter. So, I invited today's guest on the show because she consistently provides us with that much-needed medicine with her weekly song parodies (and occasional original composition), Lauren Mayer. She writes biting satirical lyrics and performs these parodies with a combination of news and topicality, intelligence, fun and talent. We'll start with some other news-adjacent info, and then Lauren will Zoom in... Also, a programming note: Monday is July 4th and I will be taking a holiday... but I will have a show. It's radio (or a close facsimile), and the show must go on. So on Monday, I'll do a music show, which means no YouTube or other video stream. So on Monday, listen to the audio-only show at nicolesandler.com/listen-live, on progressivevoices.com or pull up my stream the simplest way at nicolesandlerstream.com. And Happy Independence Day. Yay us!

20220630 Nicole Sandler Show - Thursdays with Howie Klein (and Nicole's in a mood)

We haven't spoken with Howie in a few weeks, as the House Select Committee had hearings on the last two Thursdays, so our regular programming was pre-empted. But there's no hearing today. Howie's back, and we have a lot of unfortunately very bad news to discuss. One bright shining spot of good news today though. We now call her Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Justice Breyer officially retired today, after the Supreme Court handed down its final rulings for the year, including a giant middle finger to those of us who were counting on combating climate change to save the planet. Scorched earth indeed!

20220629 Nicole Sandler Show - Now It's Your Turn

For the past few weeks (and more), we've been listening. Listening to the 1-6 hearings and the witnesses. Listening to the cable pundits. Listening to the lies from today's Republicans who are covering for the biggest con ever run on this country by the orange con man Don himself. We've been listening to the opinions of an illegitimate court about which nothing is supreme; the Extreme Court is more like it. So today, it's your turn to use your voice. I'm taking your calls at 954-889-6410, or via Skype to nicolesandler. Or if you prefer to jump on via Zoom, just go to bit.ly/nicolesandlershow and wait there. We have a lot to talk about today!

20220627 Nicole Sandler Show - At Roe's End, Bill Baird Tells Us How It All Began

As we watch this illegitimate incarnation of the "Supreme" Court dismantling the freedoms we've lived with for 50 years or more, today I'm joined by someone who was there at the start of the fight for reproductive rights. Bill Baird is recognized widely as the "Father of the birth control and abortion-rights movement. He was jailed eight times in five states in the 1960s for lecturing on abortion and birth control, and is believed to be the first and only non-lawyer in American history with three Supreme Court victories. He just celebrated his 90th birthday, but is still fighting for our rights. Today, he joins me to give us all a bit of a history lesson and explain why we must fight on! There was other news today too. The "Supreme" Court today released a few more opinions, including one that continues its assault on the separation of church and state. We have a lot of messed up territory to cover today, so buckle in.
