After a hectic week with non-stop breaking news, I think we all deserve a break from the politics. So after a brief recap of the latest news, we'll officially begin the weekend with something special. A singer/songwriter who I truly admire has a new book out, "How to Write a Song that Matters". I first met Dar Williams some 27 years ago. Her first album, "The Honesty Room" includes a song that listeners of the LA station where I worked truly connected with called "When I Was a Boy." We started playing it on KSCA fm 101.9 ...and the rest, as they say, is history. I've remained a fan through the years, but never had the opportunity to re-connect with Dar, until now. Her brand new book is out, called "How to Write a Song that Matters." She knows how to do that, and now shares that skill with the public in songwriting retreats, workshops and now, with this book. We have a lot of catching up to do, and I'm excited that listeners are along for the ride today. When the interview we recorded earlier this week ends, perhaps I could be persuaded to run into overtime and share the show we talk about during the interview. It was a morning show remote broadcast from Starbucks in Encino, CA, where she and Joan Baez (who were touring together) graced us with an amazing performance... Happy Music Friday!

Two of the more despicable members of the extreme right wing faction of American politics are growing more indistinguishable from each other each day. And neither one of them is having a good day today. There's TFG, Donald Trump, who must feel the walls closing in on him. Yesterday, HIS hand picked choice for Special Master proved he's not having any of the maga circus and is not a puppet. Trump is quaking in his golf shoes. Then this morning, NY AG Letitia James laid out the specifics in a 220+ page $250 million lawsuit against TFG, his awful spawn and the execs who enable his criminal business activities for decades. And she made criminal referrals to the IRS and the SDNY (the DOJ).. We'll talk about some of these developments with The Nations' new DC Bureau Chief Chris Lehmann. Then Professor Harvey J. Kaye returns to the show to throw some historical shade on governor Floriduh man, who gets off on punking and demeaning Venezuelan refugees who've entered the US to LEGALLY apply for asylum. Republican cruelty is endemic in the 21st century...

we're all watching the situation unfurl on Martha's Vineyard, summer home to the very rich and reclusive. I'll have an update on the disconnect between reality and the actions of a few assholes who happen to be governors of Magat states.... But we'll start with the news that broke last night... the so-called judge (named by Trump with zero qualifications to a lifetime appointment in a federal court) who bent over backwards to do TFG's bidding and ruled against the DOJ, keeping them from dealing with the reams of confidential documents stolen by Trump when he left the White House. To explain just what a travesty and perversion of justice this is, we'll start the show with Lisa Graves, who served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Clinton and W Bush administrations....
