The Nicole Sandler Show
Nicole Sandler
Nicole Sandler has worked in radio her entire adult life. After a successful career in music radio in NY and Los Angeles (WPLJ, KLOS, KSCA and others), she returned to talk radio to host mornings on then-progressive talk WINZ/Miami. After a flip to sports, she moved to Air America Radio for a nightly show. When AAR went off the air on Jan 21, 2010, Nicole Sandler moved online where she continues to question authority daily at nicolesandler.com.

20221213 Nicole Sandler Show - Get a Job with Rob Barnett
I keep reading about unemployment being at a record low! Headlines scream "Hot Job Market" "Workers have the upper hand" and other stories along those lines. So why are so many of us running into brick walls when searching for that next great gig? Age? Perhaps! Ageism is unfortunately alive and well in the corporate world. Today's guest is a long-time friendly acquaintance of mine who, shockingly, also hit the dead zone when applying for jobs the last time he found himself without a job. He stumbled into a new career as a headhunter, and wrote a book to share his new-found expertise with the rest of us. Today I'm joined by Rob Barnett, former big shot at MTV/VHI, Amazon/Audible, past president of CBS Radio, founder/creator of My Damn Channel and lots more, author of "Next Job, Best Job: A Headhunter's 11 Strategies to Get Hired Now". I promise some entertaining stories and strategies to help you finally get that next, best job.

20221212 Nicole Sandler Show - BG is Free. Now What about Leonard Peltier?
After the phony outrage from the American right wing nuts, I got to thinking about other political prisoners. The longest-serving one is Leonard Peltier, a Native American activist who's been held since 1975! He just turned 78, is in failing health, and the government has resisted calls for his release for decades. Today, I'll share the latest on the efforts to free Peltier, including a letter from seven US Senators sent to President Biden just two weeks ago, urging clemency. And we'll go back to my show when it was on Air America Radio... the date was July 31, 2009, when I spoke with Peltier's attorney, singer-songwriter-activist Bruce Cockburn and activist Harvey Wasserman. Find out lots of info about Leonard Peltier and his case at whoisleonardpeltier.info and, of course, by listening to today's show.

20221209 Nicole Sandler Show - Lisa Graves on This Week's SCOTUS Cases and More
This week the Extreme Supreme Court heard two consequential cases that could affect millions of same sex married couples, and could enable state legislatures to upend our election systems, potentially allowing what Trump attempted in 2020 but couldn't. Today, we're joined by friend of the show Lisa Graves, currently executive director/founder of TrueNorthResearch, who served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General under AG's Janet Reno and John Ashcroft in the Clinton and W Bush administrations, so she knows of what she speaks! She'll also weigh in on the possible criminal referrals to DOJ by the 1/6 committee, and the strange provision attached to the NDAA that seems to give more cover to Supreme Court justices and their families to sidestep ethics rules. And of course, there's the news that broke early this morning that Kyrsten Sinema is not a Democrat. Didn't we already know that? (I know this is different, but I had to say it!)

20221208 Nicole Sandler Show - Post '22 Midterms with Howie Klein aka DownWithTyranny
Howie Klein blogs at Downwithtyranny.com and runs the Blue America PAC. He's done a weekly guest segment with me for probably over a decade now. During that time, the role of progressives in the House Democratic caucus has been somewhat of a rollercoaster. Today, we'll get the lay of the land from Howie regarding the makeup of the incoming minority party in the 218th Congress... Plus, will Kevin McCarthy become Speaker? What about his challenger, the MAGAt Andy Biggs? Will a Blue Dog come to Kevin's rescue? Those question and many more on today's Nicole Sandler Show. PLUS... Eight years after I first wrote a post suggesting other nations issue travel advisories for the United States due to our gun violence epidemic, it appears that they're finally listening...

12-7-22 Nicole Sandler Show - Mark Thompson and My Adventures with Mark & Brian
I spent a very busy four years from 1990-1994 as producer of the #1 morning radio show in Los Angeles, the Mark and Brian Show, based at KLOS. The show continued for another 20 years or so after I left.. Mark Thompson wrote a book, just released this week. All proceeds go to benefit the Eastwood Ranch Animal Foundation and Rescue. Mark joins me today for some memories of the days when radio was fun and we were on top of the world. But we'll begin the show with a recap of last night's good news out of Georgia...
