A bit of what's news, for now

A lot to talk about on this Wednesday, the day the death toll in the US from Covid-19 passed 100,000. The president is melting down even more than usual because Twitter finally fact checked two of his tweets. We'll have the latest news, a few thoughts from me and of course, something funny. Then we'll get serious. My guest today is David Silverman, former president of American Atheists for 18 years, until a woman made a MeToo accusation against him, and he was fired. Two more allegations were made by two other women, and Dave Silverman was relieved of his duty running another Atheist organization. Silverman contends that these are trumped up charges and, while he admits to less than perfect behavior in his personal relationship, he denies any accusation of assault or harassment. We'll have a frank, honest discussion about the good, the bad and the ugly around the MeToo movement.

It's Tuesday, the day that GottaLaff joins me to dish on the news. Since we entered shelter-at-home mode a couple of months ago, our old friend and the third member of the Gliberal Goddesses, Amy Simon began working at home and is able to sneak away for a bit to join us for these gatherings, so Amy joins in too. Of course, as always, we begin with some news and commentary and something to make us laugh...

It's Memorial Day, but I'm still sheltering at home, so I might as well do a show! Since last week's Monday Music outing with Michael McDermott went so well, I decided to make it a thing! So it's back today with my old friend Dan Navarro! He's back with "Shed My Skin," his first solo studio album after more than 20 years and 14 albums with his former partner Eric Lowen, who died in 2012 from ALS. We'll begin the show with the latest news and information, and then bring Dan in for conversation and tunes!

It's Friday! We've arrived at the end of another week of quarantining and social distancing. The media and the public are focused on the coronavirus... while the days until election day tick away. After our usual first half-hour business of the latest news, something funny and perhaps a bit of outrage, we're joined again by Don Siegelman, the former Democratic Governor of Alabama, who was targeted by Karl Rove and prosecuted on trumped up bribery charges and sent to prison. His new book about his ordeal, "Stealing Our Democracy" is due out in mid-June. He'll be back around publication date to go deep on his story, but today he joins us as someone who won elections against all odds with advice on how the Democrats can win in 2020.

It's another Thursday in quarantine and with each successive week, it seems our nation is unraveling a bit more, thanks to our truly dysfunctional government under the Trump administration. We're trying to keep our eyes on the prize -- big wins on November 3. So today when Howie Klein joins in, we will go through the list of great progressive candidates who need our votes in their upcoming primary races. As usual, we'll begin with the latest news, opinion and something funny too!
