It's Christmas week, but I don't know anyone who's feeling particularly jolly right now. Tomorrow is Festivus, the holiday when we air our grievances and demonstrate feats of strength. We'll do both of those tomorrow. Today is Tuesday, so GottaLaff is here. We'll run through and opine on what's happening in the news, and there's lots to talk about today!

I didn't think it was possible after the year we've almost completed, but the news is getting even more weird by the day. Today, we'll examine the rank Republican hypocrisy on display today more than ever, the ongoing acts of sedition and other nonsense Trump is considering, and the role of journalism in protecting Democracy. BuzzFeed News' senior investigative journalist and government-labelled FOIA Terrorist Jason Leopold is our guest today.

The closer we inch towards January 20 and the end of Trump's reign of terror, the more unhinged the orange man becomes. I'll have the latest news on his scorched earth tactics. Congress is still paralyzed, and the government will officially shut down tonight if they can't come to a funding deal before midnight. We're all hoping for better things with a Biden presidency, but we progressives can't get complacent. We must push him to recognize the progressive wing of the party. To that end, Roots Action has launched NoHoneymoon.org to push progressive priorities. He wrote "Bernie Sanders and Our Winter of Progressive Discontent" at Common Dreams to explain our position.

Howie Klein, in addition to writing at DownWithTyranny.com, runs the Blue America PAC. He identifies and raises money for great progressive candidates-- usually for congressional seats, but occasionally others as well. He's my every-Thursday regular guest. Today Howie and I are joined by Eva Putzova. She ran for Congress from AZ-1 and, unfortunately didn't win. But she's energized and has formed the Catch Fire Movement (catchfiremovement.org), and will tell us all about it today. We'll start with the latest news, and how the US treats its citizens worse than just about every other reasonable nation on the planet. Plus, another few Biden cabinet picks too...

Today we will talk about political parties and a game, currently in development, that's a tool to help combat climate change and COVID-19. We'll start with the game, called The Promised Land, and talk with its developer, Anand Mallik. Then we'll check in with David Atkins. He's a writer (Washington Monthly, The American Prospect) and a California Democratic Party Regional Leader and a recently elected DNC member.
