20210520 Nicole Sandler Day Off Show Featuring Wesley Clark and Randy Newman!
I took today off to celebrate my husband's birthday with our first night out since last March! Instead of just running an old show, I put something together for you today. We start with the news, such as it was this morning. Then, following up on our conversation about war yesterday, I pulled out my last (and final) interview with General Wesley Clark. It was June of 2014, and ISIS was gaining ground in Iraq, and it looked like we were going back in. So I thought I'd get some sensible commentary from the former presidential candidate. Instead, I was dumbstruck by the things he said. It was the day I lost all respect for General Wesley Clark. After that, we'll need something to finish the show on a better note, so I pulled out an interview I did with the great Randy Newman. It was this week, 22 years ago... May 25, 1999. Enjoy!

20210519 Nicole Sandler Show - What Is It Good For? Absolutely Nothing!
Today, we're talking about war. It's good for absolutely nothing, yet we seem to be in a never-ending series of wars. All eyes today are on Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza, and the situation seems to be getting worse. I'll check in with Ron Skolnik, an American-Israeli writer and communications consultant for Partners for Progressive Israel (and an elementary school classmate of mine) for some perspective on what's going on over there. Then we'll turn to David Vine, Professor of Anthropology at American University and author of "United States of War: A Global History of America's Endless Conflicts, from Columbus to the Islamic State"

20210518 Nicole Sandler Show -Gates-Gaetz-Gate and Other Appalling People
Terrible people are dominating today's news. Matt Gaetz's literal partner in crime is spilling his beans, Marjorie Taylor Greene takes five minutes on the floor, and Bill Gates' halo has lost its shine. Bill Gates is the subject of a scorn on multiple fronts right now. Journalist Tim Schwab writes about his role in perpetuating vaccine apartheid for The Nation, and he's our guest on today's show.

20210517 Nicole Sandler Show - Got Them Old Monday Blues Again
Some of those old Monday blues are sneaking back in. I had been feeling so much better since the former guy was evicted from the White House, and had been almost tumescent that Joe Biden was doing so much better than I had expected, so I was bound to feel a big letdown, but this is ridiculous. From the bombing and imminent war between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza, to Biden's latest hires and a few other pesky problem, I'm feeling those old unhappy feelings creeping in again. Today, we'll examine the problems making me feel this way. Jeff Hauser of the Revolving Door Project is today's guest. We'll talk about the good, the bad and the ugly of the Biden administration now that we're past the 100 day mark.

20210514 Nicole Sandler Show - History Repeats with Daniel James Brown and Overtime with Rick Allen
There is a reason I speak with historians fairly regularly on this program, as history tends to repeat itself. We must learn from those lessons. Today, after a look at the latest news, I'll talk with Daniel James Brown, author of "Facing the Mountain: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in WWII". Not only didn't we learn about Japanese Americans who fought with the US in WWII, I never learned in school about the Japanese internment camps, paving the way for the horrific treatment of Asian Americans in the age of Covid and Trump. In overtime, I speak with Rick Allen, drummer for Def Leppard and an accomplished artist who has three shows next week here in South Florida.
