The Difference Between Motivation & Inspiration
MotivationKnow that motivation doesn’t have longevity to it. It’s temporary. There is a difference between the performance of an employee who seems motivated and an employee who is engaged and inspired. Your goal as a motivational leader should be to understand how to best motivate your individual team members, as people react differently to different stimuli and situations.Fear and Motivation - People think that you need to be afraid or experiencing fear to be motivated. Understand that fear only provides you momentary focus, not motivation.Inspiration goes two ways, but first know that you are accountable for your own inspiration. When you are inspired, you are empowered to invest more (not sacrifice more) to get what you want, if you truly want it. Take accountability for yourself. Find what you love to do and align it with what must be done. Then, work to surround yourself with the right people. When I say, “the right people,” I mean the parts of the people you are most attracted to— the parts of others that bring you confidence, make you feel happy, or empower you to be your best self. The second part of inspiration comes from helping your team clear their connection to that which inspires them. Encourage them to participate in activities and philanthropy that they enjoy.Tweet me your takeaway from today’s episode @davidmeltzer Email Me! david@dmeltzer.comSign up for my Free Weekly Training https://free.dmeltzer.com/friday-training-1Text Me!
