How to Pick a Milk When Your Baby Turns 1
#79: What changes in feeding when your baby turns 1? Honestly...not a whole lot. But we do make the transition to cow’s milk and that can be kind of tricky for some families.
In this episode we’re looking at how to pick milk when your baby turns 1. From questions about how much to feed, what types of cow’s milk to try, transitioning from breastmilk and/or formula to cow’s milk and milk alternatives, I’m answering all your questions on how to pick a milk when your baby turns 1.
Listen to this episode to learn:
1. Why it’s ok for babies to have cow’s milk protein in yogurt, low sodium cheeses and other dairy foods but why we don’t substitute fluid cow’s milk for breastmilk and/or formula until baby turns 1
2. What to look for in the milk aisle when you’re choosing a cow’s milk for your baby at or after the 1 year mark
3. How to wean baby off of the bottle (and when to do that) and what to consider if you need to do a cow’s milk alternative if your baby has cow’s milk protein allergy or you’re a vegan family

Baby Behavior at Mealtimes: What the Science Says with Tina Payne Bryson, PhD
#74: What is your baby’s behavior at mealtime telling you? Is it possible to spoil a baby by feeding him too much? Can babies even exhibit “bad” behavior? In this episode author, child development and parenting specialist Tina Payne Bryson, PhD is joining me to break it ALL down when it comes to your baby’s behavior at mealtimes - diving DEEP into what the science says!
Tina is the co-author of well-known parenting books such as The Whole-Brain Child and No Drama Discipline (...aka the BIBLE when my quadruplets were toddlers and I had NO idea how to compassionately discipline!) I love Tina’s science-based approach to tackling topics and she’s covering a TON of baby behavior in her new book The Bottom Line For Baby.
Listen to this episode to learn:
1. Why it’s basically impossible to spoil your baby...so don’t worry that your doting or your preferred method for starting solid foods is going to spoil your baby. It won’t!
2. How to connect and redirect when our babies are playing with or dropping food. Plus Tina also covers how these behaviors change during different stages of infancy.
3. How baby-led weaning helps babies develop “interception” - or the idea of what’s going on internally...so they’re learning how to recognize & respond to their hunger cues.

What to Do When Your Baby Won't Eat
#73: It is hard not to panic when your baby shows no interest in food. They ignore what you offer, barely taste anything, and you start worrying about nutrition, iron, and whether something might be wrong. This slow start is one of the most stressful parts of offering solid foods.
The good news is that most babies take time to learn how to eat, and early disinterest is usually completely normal. In this episode, I explain why many babies ignore food at first, how to support them during this learning phase, what to avoid, and when it might be helpful to get extra guidance.
Listen to this episode to learn:
1. Why it is normal for babies to ignore food at first and why you can stop worrying about how much they eat
2. When most babies start eating more and what to do if your baby is not showing that progress yet.
3. How to set up calm, consistent practice so your baby builds the skills they need to become a confident self-feeder.
