Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991)

"Neat? Anyone who says my sh** was neat has to go." Madonna: Truth or Dare was arguably one of the most titillating music documentaries that has ever been made. Hosts Marie Lodi and Blaire Bercy discuss the importance of the film with sister special guests Elizabeth Spiridakis Olson and costume designer Cristina Spiridakis (Queer as Folk, The Bear, Betty, Dash and Lily)! The four of us break down the outrageously fabulous Blonde Ambition tour costumes designed by Jean Paul Gaultier while also discussing our love for Fluevog Munsters, Madonna's wild backstage and offstage antics, ponder our longtime curiosities (what WAS that soup Madonna was eating?), and the film's immense impact on the queer community, fashion, and really anyone who grew up during the '90s in this era of Madonna. New York Minute (2004)

We're kicking off the weekend with a new episode: New York Minute (2004) with thee #1 Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen fan, Natalie Burris of @halloweenqueens! The great Roger Ebert once said about this cult classique, "Not only should it have gone straight to video but should have gone straight THROUGH video and kept on going to the end of the universe and never looked back." All the love to Rog, but we RESPEKFULLY have to disagree. Though it may not be perfect (cough, Andy Richter, lawd wtf), it does have lots of fun 2000s looks! Costumes were by Christopher Hargadon (The Umbrella Academy). Other topics of interest: Ashley's character being a young Republican, the House of Bling bend and snap moment, ripped jeans with flip flops (GULP), the Evolution of Olsen fashion, and Heath Ledger (RIP). Plus our Obsessed Much obsessions ( a little old since we recorded this earlier): the Barbie movie, Black Monday, the Elvis movie, Zandra Rhodes x Fluevog, all the Halloween collections coming out! An Interview with "Moon Knight" Costume Designer Meghan Kasperlik

Steven Grant/Marc Spector hive, please rise! We have Moon Knight costume designer Meghan Kasperlik (who has just been nominated for her incredible work on the show!) on to talk about the absolutely bonkers costumes, including all of the clever and cool Easter eggs she put in the clothes, and which outfit "terrified" her the most. (Yes, we managed to restrain ourselves from asking inappropriate questions about Oscar Isaac). Meghan also talks about getting her start in the biz with Patricia Field, dressing Evan Peters in Mare of Easttown (and giving Jean Smart a "fake butt"), her work in Watchmen and more! Casino (1995)

"For guys like me, Las Vegas washes away your sins. It's a morality car wash." We are so excited to have the one and only Alana Levinson on the pod. She's a writer, editor, and co-host of the West Coast fashion podcast, Free Validation. And today, we're getting very EYE-TALIAN and talking about mob movies, specifically Martin Scorsese's 1995 flick Casino. From Robert De Niro's iconic coral-colored suit, to the countless looks sported by style icon Ginger (played by Sharon Stone), the costumes are bananas, and for that we have Rita Ryack and John Dunn to thank. Nowhere (1997) With Fashion Grunge's Lauren Brown

"L.A. is like... nowhere. Everybody who lives here is lost." Gregg Araki hive, please rise! On this week's show, we're talking about Nowhere, the third and final film in the director's teen apocalypse trilogy with the only person that could have done this episode justice, Araki superfan, and host and founder of the iconic Fashion Grunge podcast, website, and Instagram, Lauren Brown. We discuss the outrageous costumes by SaraJane Slotnick, the massive ensemble cast of then-unknown faces, genius cameos, and SO much more. This is a can't-miss episode! My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)

"Maybe there won't be marriage, maybe there won't be sex, but by God there'll be dancing." We're wrapping up Wedding Month with one of the greatest rom-coms of all time, My Best Friend's Wedding. It stars Julia Roberts as Julianne, a 27-year-old food critic who made a pact with her dude bff (Dermot Mulroney) that if they aren't married by the time they turn the ripe old age of 28, they'll get married to each other. Surprise, though—he's engaged to a 20-year-old Cameron Diaz, so now Julianne must sabotage the wedding! Costume designer Jeffrey Kurland (Oceans Eleven, Tenet, Erin Brockovich) put Roberts in custom-made masculine silhouettes in muted hues, while Diaz is in colorful, uber preppy, Lilly Pulitzer-esque looks. We also discuss favorite perfumes (Fenty), this wild season of Atlanta, Blaire's obsession with haupia pudding, and coin a new handbag trend: BPE (Big Purse Energy). 27 Dresses (2008)

"The best thing is you can shorten it and wear it again." If you've ever had to wear a hideous bridesmaids dress, you might appreciate today's episode on 27 Dresses, the 2008 wedding rom-com starring Katherine Heigl as a woman who is "always the bridesmaid, never the bride"— quite literally, 27 times. Costumes were by Catherine Marie Thomas (Kill Bill, The Proposal, The Flight Attendant) who designed the titular dresses that were so distinct and over-the-top, they received special nicknames from Thomas and her team, ranging from Gone With the Wind trash-fabulous, to a bright yellow "Peep's Dress," a hot pink, ruffled "Bahama Mama," and more. Other callouts: goth Krysten Ritter, Judy Greer as a scene-stealing BFF, hottie James Marsden. Music Minisode: Sade "No Ordinary Love" (1992)

We're continuing with our wedding season theme with our music minisode pick: Sade's 1992 hit "No Ordinary Love." Directed by Sophie Muller, we watch our forever style icon Sade invoke her inner Ariel and portray a mermaid who falls in love with a hunky, Jean Paul Gaultier-esque sailor. She then decides to sew herself a marabou trim wedding dress and grow some legs to find him on land and runs barefoot through the New York City streets! There are only two looks, but they are inspirational! What's a wedding rom-com theme without a J.Lo movie? We've got her newest, Marry Me up on the menu and one thing's for sure—this ain't no Wedding Planner when it comes to costumes, meaning it's a true feast for the eyes! Caroline Duncan (The Affair, Servant, Old) put Jennifer Lopez in a rose-gold metallic Zuhair Murad bridal gown that weighed 95 pounds, as well as a ton of other glorious designer looks, no doubt inspired by her real-life style. (Shoutout to her stylists Rob and Mariel!) Tune in now to hear our fave looks from this sweet 'lil movie. Bride Wars (2009)

We're kicking off our first wedding month —that's right, we're doing all wedding-themed movies (who are we?)—with Bride Wars, a 2009 friend-com that stars two childhood besties (Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway) who declare war on each other when they end up booking their weddings on the same date. June at the Plaza! Costume designer Karen Patch (whose work we discussed on our recent Royal Tenenbaums episode) tapped Vera Wang (OBV) for the gowns, and since it's 2009 we get a lot of big belts and big tote bags!
