Life's Challenges and Wisdom of a Twenty Year Old

Joining me today from Bordeaux, France is Dan Arscott. Dan is a third-year physics student, and creative who has a passion for cooking, and also for helping young people embrace their own innate wellbeing.   Among other things, we take a deep dive into: When we embrace the self-criticism, self-doubt, and negative stories about ourselves; Balancing young adulthood, sharing the truth about being gay and starting university; and The practical aspects of the laws of physics. It's fascinating to hear what life looks like to a twenty-year-old. I am so impressed with Dan's wisdom and presence. I can't wait to see what unfolds for him as he navigates life.   Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: This too shall pass - an adage that reflects on the temporary nature of the human condition is a perfect reflection of our experiences in life, whether good or bad - they are temporary moments; Engaging in anxious thoughts, criticism, fear of failure is not just something that adults do. Children and young adults dance with these stories as well. They benefit tremendously from having conversations with them about the power of thought and how our human operating system works; Children and youth are trying to navigate the world as they see it. As they reach adolescence they are going through a lot of changes. Try and meet them where they are at, not where you think they should be. Give them a wide berth and create a space where they can talk through their lens with you. Doing so will have a profound impact on their world; and This one is for all the adults, teachers, anyone who makes blanket statements about or to young people. (For example, telling children that they aren’t academic, or smart, or athletic, or enough). You have no idea what kind of impact that statement might have on them. I wonder what Dan’s teacher who said he wasn’t really academic would think now to know he is not only in his third year of physics at University, but it taking his third year in French! Wow!!!    Sit back and enjoy the conversation. If you have any questions about the three principles please do not hesitate to reach out.   Much love, Jessie-Lynn

When Judgement Is Replaced With Curiosity - Episode #23

In today's episode, I have the pleasure of chatting with Jonelle Simms. She is a lovely soul who left the corporate world to focus her time and efforts on Community. She now works as a coach, delivers corporate workshops and works with those who are marginalized and suffering in the community, In this fun chat we take a deep dive into: What happens when questionable people move in next door? Do you love thy neighbour or do you move?; When you stop searching for a fix in the self-help industry and accept life as it is, you realize that suffering is an illusion. A tremendous amount of suffering disappears; The power of unconditional and impersonal love; and The resilience of those who are marginalized and suffering. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: When we show up fully, and are fully present, without our own agenda or ego and we meet people where THEY are at - that is true service; It’s easy to judge others who are less fortunate, but when you change the lens you are looking through, or take off the judgement googles, you will see that those who are struggling are actually the epitome of resilience; and Thinking, specifically overthinking can be so toxic. It can feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. The power of thought is incredible. The fact that you think is part of being human, learning that you don’t have to engage with those thoughts is life-changing.   This is a fun and engaging conversation. I hope you enjoy it. Keep the emails and feedback coming. I love hearing from you. Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You. Can Perimenopause and Menopause Be Part of A Beautiful Journey? - Episode #22

Absolutely thrilled to chat today with educator and author Tania Elfersy. She is the beautiful soul behind The Wiser Woman Project. Our conversation is about raising awareness and helping women through perimenopause and menopause. During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   The narrative around perimenopause; The signs of perimenopause quietly creeping into our lives way before we might expect;     How Tania's symptoms quickly disappeared; and The wisdom of our bodies. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: It’s great to have these conversations, there is nothing to dread or be ashamed of when you change the way you look at things - the things you look at change; The human body is innately AMAZING. When we let ourselves be open to that wisdom it will guide us through birth, puberty, perimenopause, etc.; We often deny ourselves the space, time and self-care that our bodies, our innate wisdom is gently guiding us towards. When we say yes to someone else we are saying no to ourselves; and Your body can only and will only ever act of love and your body is always brilliant. I hope you enjoy this conversation.    Much love, Jessie-Lynn

Resolving Conflict From A Fresh Perspective

Conflict, we all come across it at some point in our lives. Whether personally or professionally it can ruin us or if we give it the chance, it can have a profound ripple effect of transformation. In this epsiode, I talk with Sebastian Eck about a fresh perspective for resolving conflict. Sebastian is an amazing human being who has a curiosity and passion for resolving conflict and a heart for peace and harmony. During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   Conflict with self and others; The power of deep listening in situations of conflict or difficult interpersonal relationships; and What happens when people are not open to resolving conflict. While this was a lighthearted and fun conversation, it was filled with some golden nuggets. Often when we are dealing with personal conflict, it is the ego taking the lead. When we sit back and let our minds settle we give the opportunity for our own wisdom to shine through. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: There is immense power in meeting people where they are at, not where we think they should be but understanding how they are seeing their world at that moment. I cannot state this enough. When we show up to a conversation with no agenda and no attachment to the outcome it creates the space for true connection to happen. And when we have a true connection, there is power to make significant impacts; and When we put aside our own personal thinking and reach out to someone we have strong resistance to, it offers a point of connection. From that connection, new possibilities arise. I really hope you enjoy this conversation. Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You. Much love, Jessie-Lynn

A Journey From Severe Anxiety to Wellness - Episode 20

I’m happy to be back online after a short break. Today I have the pleasure of chatting with Sarie Taylor. Sarie went through a period of severe anxiety in her twenties and was hospitalized, she then went on to train as a psychotherapist and more recently works as a coach who specializes in anxiety.  During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   The journey from intense, life-crippling anxiety to wellbeing; What happens when we trust that we are okay; The power and potential of showing up with no agenda; and The magic that happens when we don’t attach ourselves to labels. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: The is immense power and potential when we don’t adopt the notion that we are broken and need to be fixed; We all have anxious thoughts because we are human. We don’t and can’t fix that fact; When a parent or teacher embraces the fact that the child has innate wellbeing (we all do), the child is more likely to embrace that fact as well; and We experience much less anxious thinking, life flows better and is much more enjoyable when we don’t engage with the vicious cycle of overthinking.   I love reading your emails so feel free to reach out with your comments, questions and feedback.   Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You. Much love, Jessie-Lynn

The Benefits of Playful Parenting

Raising tweens and teens can be the most challenging and also the most rewarding experience we can be part of. I have the pleasure of welcoming Colette Reilley back to talk about playful parenting. Yes, those two words can co-exist.  During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   Listening isn’t just about your children listening, it’s also about parents listening to their children; The tweens and teen years, growth, challenges and parenting through this time; and Helping our children embrace who they are and on the flip side, embracing who are children are. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: When we create the space for our children to get curious about their lives, their experiences and their choices, they are less likely to look elsewhere for that space; The tween and teen years bring about many changes for both the children and the parents, understanding these changes are normal and NOT personal makes the challenging times more understandable; Helping our children embrace who they are may be uncomfortable and challenging for us, that is a great opportunity to explore why and where it’s a challenge for you. It’s a time for personal growth for parents as well; and Our children are more okay than we may give them credit for, stand back a little, give them boundaries but make sure you also give them room to grow. Parenting is fluid and is about connection and curiosity. If you are willing to show up and dance in the moment, and connect human to human parenting can be a wonderful thing. Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You. Much love, Jessie-Lynn

The Changing Relationship With Self and Others Through The Ebb and Flow of Life

My conversation today with Shenan Charania is about the changing relationship with self and others through the ebb and flow of life. Shenan’s life journey is so interesting. Currently, he is a transformative coach who works with inspirational leaders. He has a lovely presence and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes up in this conversation. During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   How looking for a sense of belonging led to being involved with gang life for over ten years and the realization that a sense of belonging doesn’t come from others, things, experiences; Distorted perspectives and how they play out in life; The journey of self during the journey of life. From the gangster lifestyle to owning a Tim Horton’s to being a coach; and Shame and guilt for past behaviours and choices don’t serve you. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: Distorted thinking leads to distorted actions. When someone has a shift in perspective, relationships change in immeasurable ways; Our own interpretation of the past changes as we evolve in our own personal growth; People spend so much time, money and effort searching for the answers to who am I and where do I belong from others, books, drugs, alcohol, food, etc. These efforts are futile, it is only when we shift the direction of our search inwards will we find the answers; and The most beautiful relationship you will ever be in is the one with yourself. This conversation is a perfect example of the power of connection and the power of showing up. I hope you enjoy this episode.   Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

The Secret To A Healthy And Happy Romantic Relationship

This month we are all about relationships - romantic, in business, parenting and most important with yourself. In this episode, I chat with Julie and Michael about the ease and playfulness of their relationship. They are a blended family with five kids. Michael is a fitness, nutrition and wellness coach and Julie is a nutrition coach and Veterinarian. With Michael and Julie talking about relationships is fun. I’m totally inspired by these two lovely souls. During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:   The power when we embrace our individual wholeness within a romantic relationship; How conflict arises in relationships that come from having unspoken expectations; Relationships can be enjoyable and easy, even when there are conflict and low moods; and Parenting and blending families with grace.    Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: When you try to analyze or conceptualize the actions, interactions and moments in your relationship it clouds our thinking and creates tension; Happiness does not come from another person. If you are looking to your partner to make you happy, you will miss the beautiful place where happiness and an effortless relationship exists - inside; Life is meant to flow, as a result, as do our relationships. Recognizing this, and knowing you don’t have to fix anything when you or your partner are in a low mood lets the natural flow; and When we let go of needing to control, conceptualize or fix and embrace who we are as an individual within a relationship - it can be fun and effortless. What a beautiful and inspiring thought.   I hope you enjoy. Until next time, be well, be inspired, be you.

Relationships are such an important aspect of every part of our lives and we are going to cover the relationships with self, romantic relationships, parenting and in the workplace. I can’t wait to share these conversations with you. Today I welcome Oscar Licon. He is a business owner, and a human and organizational development coach and trainer. In this fun conversation we chat about:   The importance of presence in all relationships; What you are bringing to the relationship is based your state of mind and the quality of relationship you have with yourself; The importance of understanding your experience of life and your relationships comes from within; and The beauty and space for growth the ebb and flow of relationships. Here are a few thought bomb takeaways: Our experience of life is based on the quality of relationship we have with each other and more so with ourselves; Your spiritual essence or state of mind impacts every aspect of all your relationships; If you approach your relationships with curiosity and wonder, rather than judgement or criticism, you will be in a beautiful space where there is infinite potential; and When you are connecting with another person, do so to understand how they see their world, doing so will deepen your connection.
