Big Ten and ACC are making the rules up as season goes on
Today’s word of the day is ‘manipulation’ as in cleverly or unfairly controlling or influencing someone as in the Big Ten has decided to just change the rules this far into the season. Why would they do that? Why would the Big Ten change the rules now? Because there’s a chance undefeated Ohio State won’t make the conference championship game (0:06). The ACC did something similar by just canceling the last game of the season for Notre Dame and Clemson so now they have a bye week before the ACC title game. Why are conferences doing this (11:42)? Kyrie Irving is back making headlines because he’s always making headlines. Instead of speaking with the media he released a statement and said via the statement that he’ll only talk to the media via a released statement (13:04). Russell Westbrook is now on the Washington Wizards and during his first media session he was asked about his legacy. I might now be a Westbrook fan because of his response. It’s worth hearing (19:10). Anthony Davis met the media. He was honest about securing the most money he could. Bravo (22:30). Was it that hard to be like them Kyrie? Review - Your Honor (Episode 1) (27:40). Texas high school football player who is currently in jail with 10k bond for assaulting referee in Texas after being ejected from game. Was this a crime and how should it be dealt with. The story of on field criminal acts is interesting to me. Why isn’t what gaby Sanchez did during a marlins game considered a crime (33:05)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Why won’t James Harden answer my calls!?
Today’s word of the day is ‘ghosted’ as in a ghost as in disappearing as in someone talks to you and then poof (!) they just disappear and you never hear from them again. What are we talking about? New Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas says that he’s giving James Harden some space…. SPACE! We think that’s a very polite way of saying James Harden won’t respond. Harden demanded a trade, Russell Westbrook got traded, and now Harden has to play with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins who have collective played about 50 games in the past 2 seasons (0:06). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me if the Baltimore Orioles are going to become the Houston Astros because of the tanking. With or without the sign-stealing (18:40)? Review - Happiest Season (32:30). The Apology Tour. No it isn’t a concert! It’s about the phenomenon with everyone who messes up goes on this tour of saying sorry for what they said… GMAB! GIVE ME A BREAK! Who will be next (36:50)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. LeBron James, Anthony Davis get max deals with Lakers, MLB Free Agency Tracker
Today’s word of the day is ‘max’ as in the most as in the most you can get paid as in what LeBron James and Anthony Davis just signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. Why would LeBron sign just a 2-year extension? Is it age? Is it for the money? Is it because his son could be in the NBA when this deal runs out? A lot of interesting things to think about (0:06). Let’s update some Wait To See positions that we’ve taken in the past (8:10). IF you sign a player to a bad contract you better know how to TRADE a bad contract. Let’s talk about what happened with John Wall and Russell Westbrook, whom were just traded last night (13:30). Review - Hillbilly Elegy (31:15). MLB tender deadline came and went with no surprises. Are you surprised that there were no surprises (38:35)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. MLB tender deadline could lead to historic free agent market
Today’s word of the day is ‘tender’ as in chicken tender as in ballpark tenders as in the tender deadline is here in MLB. What exactly does it mean? It means there could be a record number of free agents on the market in Major League Baseball (0:06). The New York Mets did it! Hurray, Steve Cohen! The Mets went out and signed reliever Trevor May and Mets fans are losing their collective minds. They think this is the moment where everything goes their way. Is this the sign of big free agent signings to come or the Steve Cohen just having new owner-itis (16:02). So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me to talk about COVID’s impact on the upcoming NBA and MLB seasons. Doc Rivers spoke yesterday about how worried he is about the NBA’s chances of finishing a season. Uh oh (25:48). Review - Wayne (39:35). Let’s end today talking some football. The Eagles are a disaster. Carson Wentz stinks. Doug Pederson is on the chopping block (43:15). The Ravens have no players, but have to play the Steelers 6 days after they were supposed to play the Steelers. What is happening (45:25)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Dealing with PED users; How Chicago front office should handle Matt Nagy’s comments
Today’s word of the day is ‘misplaced’ as in where did I put it as in I thought I put this somewhere else as in Will Fuller said his trust was misplaced with a doctor! Excuse me! After testing positive for a PED, Will Fuller said it was the doctor’s fault! Excuse me! So Fuller was suspended for six games or the rest of the season, and to make things worse… it’s a contract year! His teammate Bradley Roby was ALSO suspended six games for PED use (0:06). Uh oh! Let’s go to PR School 101. Bears head coach Matt Nagy had an all time quote after Chicago got blown out by the Green Bay Packers. How should he be evaluated by the front office for these comments and this season (13:31)? Here’s a story about the Miami Marlins and what we did with managers (14:30). Dennis Schroeder did everything wrong when signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. You cannot tell people what you’re going to do as far as starting. Gain some respect from your teammates and coaches first. Let me explain why (26:10). Review - The Queen’s Gambit (39:15). #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Is NFL unfairly punishing teams over covid protocols?
Today’s word of the day is ‘fire drill’ as in it’s time to get moving as in panic as in the Baltimore Ravens are scurrying around trying to figure out what in the world went wrong inside the lockeroom. It all started with a strength coach breaking protocols, which led to an outbreak, which led to 20 players testing positive, which led to the NFL moving the game from Thursday to Sunday to now Tuesday. Why is the NFL trying so hard to get this game played against the Pittsburgh Steelers (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me why the NFL forced the Denver Broncos play with a QB who wasn’t a QB, but had to play QB. Well… I have some thoughts on this (11:28). Review - The Undoing (24:40). What are the San Francisco 49ers going to do for the next three weeks? The team was told by the Santa Clara County that no more sports are to be played because of the rise of covid numbers and the 49ers are upset. Boohoo (30:15)! Let’s get to some MLB news about free agency. The report is that the Philadelphia Phillies lost $145M this past season. How could this be? Will this impact the team’s offseason (36:00)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Clemson-FSU beef gets real; Dolphins choice to bench Tua was wrong
Today’s word of the day is ‘Dabo’ as in Dabo Swinney as in Clemson’s head football coach felt the need to ignite the flames against Florida State on Sunday. The two teams were supposed to play on Saturday, but the game was postponed after medical expert from both teams couldn’t agree on playing. Dabo came out and said that this was cancelled because Florida State was making up excuses to not play Clemson. Excuse me (0:06)? So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me if I agree with the Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores and his handling of Tua Tagovailoa on Sunday. Tua was benched down 20-10 for Ryan Fitzpatrick (11:57). Review - Top 5 Thanksgiving movies (29:35). It’s time to talk about the NFC East again. Every team in the East is terrible. The Philadelphia Eagles have a 1/2 game lead on the rest of the division and they’re 3-6-1. What? The Dallas Cowboys finally picked up their third win of the season and Mike McCarthy had some interesting things to say (34:45). Gordon Hayward signed a contract with the Charlotte Hornets for how much money? What Michael Jordan has done as owner of that team is baffling (41:50). The Los Angeles Lakers have done a great job getting better in the offseason, but will they repeat as champions (45:00)? #waittosee--------------------------'Nothing Personal with David Samson' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Bullhorn and wherever else you listen to podcasts.
