Do Family Roles Matter? With Naomi Smith and Kim Allen

Join us for part two of our discussion on the role of the family in discipling nations. Today we dive into the hotly-contested topic of God’s design for the role of the mother, father, and children in the family. As always, we seek to analyze this at the level of worldview–why did God create the family with differing roles and responsibilities? What are the good and bad consequences of adhering to or neglecting these God-given roles? For this episode, we had the privilege of being joined by two special guests: Naomi Bloom, a wife, mother, and the author of Home Inspired: A Look at the Micro-Nation of Home for New Moms; and Scott's wife, Kim Allen, a mother, grandmother, and contributing author of As Goes the Family so Goes the Nation: Principles and Practices for Building Healthy Families.Episode Landing Page with links to go deeper!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Homosexuality, Ted Cruz, Uganda, and the Law with Tom Ascol

We made it through June. However, in many places around the world, cultures are being discipled more by the new LGBTQ “religion” instead of by the church. Today, we interview Dr. Tom Ascol, pastor of Grace Baptist Church and founder of Founders Ministries. We ask him how Christians can regain their God-given commission to disciple their nations. One of the primary reasons many Christians stay silent during “Pride Month” is because they don’t understand the biblical framework for sex, marriage, and identity. Recently Dr. Ascol made headlines when he challenged U.S. Senator Ted Cruz over God’s laws about these critical topics. Join us as we discuss his conversation with the Senator, how the Old Testament law is still relevant in our lives today, and how critical it is for Christians to disciple their nations even at the expense of being labeled a legalist, Christian Nationalist, or someone with a phobia.Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance Website

The Toxic War on Masculinity with Nancy Pearcey

Bestselling author Nancy Pearcey joins us to announce her newest and most controversial book yet. In a day when The Washington Post publishes headlines such as "Why Can't We Hate Men?" and hashtags like #KillAllMen trend on Twitter, we have to ask, what ideas brought us to this point? When did masculinity become toxic, how is this idea affecting our youth, and what worldview misbeliefs are holding us in this downward spiral of negativity towards masculinity?Did you know that committed Christian men are statistically the most engaged and loving husbands and fathers?  And the social sciences tell us that these family men who attend church regularly have the lowest rates of divorce and domestic violence of any group in America. In this eye-opening discussion, Pearcey will lead you to understand God's design for masculinity better and share ways to champion that for a culture in desperate need of virtuous men.Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance Website

Lessons to Learn from North Korea

What happens when God's true, good, and beautiful ideas are expelled from a nation? We often think humanity has advanced from our barbaric history of slavery, starvation, and genocide. Yet, even in 2023, there is a country where these crimes against humanity are the norm. In this episode, we use the unbelievable story of Yeonmi Park, a North Korean defector, to examine what it looks like when running a country is divorced from the idea of God. False, evil, and ugly ideas destroy and dehumanize, and if Christians are not the hands and feet of God to promote the opposite, our societies can all slide down the slippery slope we witness in North Korea.Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance Website

The Imago Dei

What is your purpose as a Christian? To glorify God? To become Christlike and shine His light? Yes, but how… where does God most clearly lay out His purpose for humanity? In Genesis. This is when God created the world overflowing with beauty and potential, placed humans in it, and presented His first commision for us. Together we will unpack what it means to be made imago Dei, in the image of God. Understanding this concept is critical, and there are consequences if we do not. Learn how an understanding of imago Dei can change individuals, businesses, communities, and nations so that they flourish in the mission God’s given them.Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance Website

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder with Brian Chan

Truth, goodness, and beauty are the hallmarks of the Kingdom of God, but sadly we often overlook the "beauty." We all see a crystal clear river and say it is beautiful. We see another stagnate with debris and trash and say it is polluted and ugly. Why do we share this universal understanding of beauty? Where does this shared understanding come from? There is an intrinsic answer here that points straight back to our Creator. Today we are joined by artist, entrepreneur, professor, author, speaker, and pastor Brian S. Chan. Brian received a DMin in Christian Philosophy from Talbot, where he wrote his dissertation on philosophy in films, and a ThM in Historical Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, where he wrote his thesis on the beauty of God and art in worship. Since then, he has never looked back as he continues to share and deepen his understanding of beauty and the Kingdom. During our discussion, we asked is beauty objective, where does it come from, why do humans pursue ugliness, when did the church have a vision for beauty, and what does a theology of beauty look like? Last, we get practical and ask how can each of us apply this concept into our daily lives?Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance Website

How Do Ideas Disciple Nations?

63% of Americans claim to be Christians, yet our culture is becoming increasingly chaotic and full of sin. Why is this happening? The reason is that most Christians only know how to apply the Bible to certain areas of life. The consequence is that Christians have little to no impact on culture. Do you see it?This episode will give you an introduction to Ideas Have Consequneces, the podcast of the Disciple Nations Alliance. This is an action-oriented show where you’ll hear from a variety of biblical worldview teachers, writers, and cultural commentators. Our goal is to apply the Bible to every area of life by wrestling with the most prominent ideas in our cultures and seeking to practically interact with them from a biblical perspective. Episode Landing PageDisciple Nations Alliance WebsiteTwitterInstagramYouTubeFacebook
