Ideas Have Consequences
Disciple Nations Alliance
Everything that we see around us is the product of ideas, of ideologies, of worldviews. That's where everything starts. Worldviews are not all the same, and the differences matter a lot. How do you judge a tree? By its fruits. How do you judge a worldview? By its physical, tangible, observable fruit. The things it produces. Ideas that are noble and true produce beauty, abundance, and human flourishing. Poisonous ideas produce ugliness. They destroy and dehumanize. It really is that simple. Welcome to Ideas Have Consequences, the podcast of Disciple Nations Alliance, where we prepare followers of Christ to better understand the true ideas that lead to human flourishing while fighting against poisonous ideas that destroy nations. Join us, and prepare your minds for action!

Christianity is Good for the Nation with Dennis Peacocke and Katherine Gallagher
Christians are increasingly criticized for their opinions in the public square and often labeled as Christian nationalists. But should this criticism cause us to retract our opinions and retreat? Or is Christian cultural engagement exactly what our nations need? We are called to faithfully reflect Christ not only in our personal lives, but everywhere–in our families, churches, workplaces, and yes, truth must even influence politics, and our work in public institutions and culture. Our guests, Dennis Peacocke and Katherine Gallagher from our affiliate organization, GoStrategic, help us consider strategies and practical ways that we can meaningfully engage in these areas for Christ, and for the nations.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Why Jordan Peterson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali & Others are Turning to Christianity
The Western world has been described as a cut flower. This flower was beautiful and flourishing while rooted in a Judeo-Christian worldview, and yet, as it became increasingly secular and rejected God, it cut itself off from its roots. Today, the flower still looks good, but it will soon wither and die if nothing changes. In this episode, we look at the increasing number of former atheists, Muslims, and agnostics who are calling out the erosion of Western civilization along with its former values of human rights, justice, and freedom. These people–including Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Jordan Peterson, Douglas Murray, Tom Holland, and more–are understanding that these Western values came from the Bible. If Western society rejects God, it will also lose the virtuous and moral framework that created its foundation. This realization is leading to an awakening. It is a unique journey that has led people from an analysis of the culture and the West to the cross.Join us as we unpack the roots that nourished the West. We consider the incredibly good impact the Bible can have on culture and the devastation we can anticipate when it’s rejected. We live in a pivotal moment in history. The consequences of rejecting God are evident in our society, providing us with a fresh opportunity to promote goodness, truth, and beauty, rooted in the Bible once again.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

Homelessness and The Tragedy of American Compassion with Dr. Marvin Olasky
America’s secular approach to fighting poverty has been a disaster, yet we can learn a lot from how Christians helped the poor successfully 200 years ago. If you want to make a difference on the poverty in your community, you need to join us as we feature Dr. Marvin Olasky, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, the former editor of World Magazine, and the author of The Tragedy of American Compassion. Olasky’s passion for this topic led him to live in a homeless community in Missouri recently. Our conversation underscores the significance of personal involvement, community, and family in combating poverty, as opposed to bureaucratic solutions and handouts alone. Further, we discuss the dignity of work and the need for employment to uplift those in poverty. Join us and discover what it truly means to live out our faith by loving our neighbors on the streets of our towns. Do Other Worldviews Value Thankfulness?
Thankfulness is a focus in many American homes in the month of November. But have you ever considered that thankfulness is not a universally valued characteristic? Not to mention that the amount of gratitude we see on a daily basis actually seems to be decreasing today. How does one’s sense of privilege or status result in a lack of gratitude toward others? How does belief in the significance of each person’s life cultivate gratitude within a person? Does belief in the goodness and sovereignty of God inspire thankfulness in the midst of trying times? Our office team gathered together to reflect on these questions and share our favorite biblical passages about the priority and results of thankfulness in the Christian life. We discussed why the biblical worldview places such an emphasis on gratitude, and contrasted this with different worldviews. In conclusion, we considered how essential thankfulness is for building thriving, flourishing cultures in families, communities, and nations. Join us for this thoughtful and encouraging discussion!View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

How Should Christians Respond to the Times We Live in?
Today, Christ is not only ignored and rejected, but now He is becoming the target of malice. How do Christians respond to the times we live in? In this episode, Scott, Darrow, Luke, and Dwight explore where Christianity is today in the West and explore the need for a forgotten symbol of Christ to engage with the growing evil in the world. We all know Jesus as the gentle lamb, but when was the last time we envisioned Christ as the Lion of Judah? We live in an increasingly post-Christian world–a world that actively celebrates evil and is antagonistic to the Christian faith. So again, how do we respond? Certainly not fearful, hopeless, or in denial of the times. Explore with us a biblical paradigm that calls us to courage, wisdom, and loving defiance.View the transcript, leave comments, and check out recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website
