Well+Good’s Kate Spies On Attainable Wellness Practices

My thirties have become all about wellness and taking care of myself. I have made myself a priority and it feels so good. I am actually witnessing improvement in my mental health. A Day in My Life

My best ideas come while I am in the shower. I wish there was a way to take notes while in there, as sometimes I forget what I have thought about! Waterproof notepad? Thankfully, I did not lose my idea to make a Day in the Life podcast episode! Usually, I record for forty-five minutes in one sitting. I thought it would be cool to record an episode over twenty-four hours! SO, that’s what I did and it was really fun! Every three hours or so, I came back to my desk and recorded about a ten minute update of my day. You’ll hear about what snacks I ate, Sonny’s insane sleeping, my lack of sleep, my therapy session, detailed updates and BTS on my loungewear line, COZeCO, and more!   This episode is brought to you by Pipette. Registered Dietitian, Vanessa Rissetto On Healthy Relationships With Food

I’ve talked about this before, but I have a blasé relationship with food. I do not crave a certain meal ever (well, maybe a rotisserie chicken basket from The Country Mart) or have excitement over cooking. A goal of mine is to break from my work to fuel my body. Make time for three meals a day. Sounds so simple, but for me it's not. Also, I need to take the pressure off myself that each meal needs to be this immaculate thing. I want to start looking at eating as a necessity to get my body working the way it needs to get me through the day. My conversation with registered dietician, Vanessa Rissetto, was amazing. I want to be her friend. She was so cool and shared so many scientific facts about eating and our bodies. She explained that eating certain foods should not be about gaining or losing weight but to simply give our bodies what they need to function and survive.  Vanessa is the co-founder of Culina Health. Her work in private practice includes treatment of GI disorders, bariatric surgery, weight management, PCOS, and family nutrition. She is mostly interested in helping clients to take an active role in their health journey, any of her clients can tell you she motivates and ensures that they always achieve success. Vanessa was named by Essence magazine as one of the top 5 black nutritionists that will change the way you think about food and currently serves as the Dietetic Internship Director at New York University.   This episode is brought to you by Pipette Pipette is a clean baby and mom care brand with a mission to give every family the best start. It's Time To Live My Life for Me

During my last solo chat with you all, I talked about how I labeled myself as lazy and unproductive. Last week, I had a huge realization. I feel unmotivated when I am doing work for others and not for me…when I am living my life for someone else. It’s in those moments where I lose the passion for my job and in turn begin to lose myself. In this episode, I recount memories that have contributed to this way of living and thinking. A major example I share is the fact that my 20’s were produced for me for a TV show. I was literally just along for the ride to my life. Now, in my 30’s I am in control, and I don’t know what to do with that power. It’s intimidating! While recording this, I really just wanted to let you into what’s going on in my brain right now. What I’ve learned is my life is mine, and I no longer want to be a bystander to it.   This episode is brought to you by Art of Tea. Staying Home With Whit | Timmy Shares His Self-care Tips & Rituals

It’s a Timmy Takeover!! The other week, I had so much on my plate, so I asked Timmy if he would be interested in taking over my podcast for an episode, so I could focus on some other work that needed to be done. If you know him, you know that I did not have to twist his arm. This is another part of my self-care series, and he answered the questions that I previously responded to about self-care. I thought it would be cool for you to hear how we both implement self-care into our lives as you might get further inspired by new ideas. Hope you enjoy this one, I know he did! Staying Home With Whit | Rabbi Steve Leder on Finding Spirituality & Floating With Grief

I identify as Jewish, however, do not actively practice the faith. I consider myself a very spiritual person. During my conversation with Rabbi Steve Leder, we discuss the idea that the word spirituality has lost its meaning as it is consistently overused. It has so much meaning that it now has no meaning. Rabbi Leder, who has played a part with my family for a long time, explains the path to spirituality, the true power of gratefulness and how religion is a vessel to maintain spirituality. Additionally, we spoke about grief. Now more than ever, people all over the world are experiencing grief at varying degrees – the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the loss of touch, etc. He explains how important it is to accept grief into your daily life instead of fighting against it. I was so moved by his messages and left this conversation looking at my grief so differently. I hope this can help those who are struggling.  To learn more about Rabbi Leder’s messages on grief check out "The Beauty of What Remains: How Our Greatest Fear Becomes Our Greatest Gift" – his inspiring book about loss based on his most popular sermon.
