TAS 104 – From $0 to $79k p/m on Amazon. Linn’s story of product research, Shopify and Instagram tactics to drive product launches and reviews.
Welcome back to the first show for 2021!
Today’s guest is Linn, one of my coaching students who I’ve had the privilege to work with over the last year or so.
I reckon Linn has all the qualities you need to be successful selling on Amazon; tenacity, persistence, an ability to overcome obstacles and an attention to detail, especially when it comes to customer experience and branding.
She’s now sitting at around $70k per month in revenue, enjoying excellent margins and is expanding her product range to around 12 SKU’s in the coming months.
She has an amazing knack of finding niches and great products to sell with low competition, medium demand and great profitability.
The Instagram marketing she uses to build a following, launch products and get reviews alone is pure gold and worth tuning in for…
I know you’ll love this chat with Linn!

Don’t forget I am offering private coaching again this year so please head over to www.theaustralianseller.com/chris to book an hour session with me to make sure you’re heading in the right direction!

TAS 103 – Julia Christie CEO Nail Snail, Australian inventor, mum & entrepreneur.
In today’s episode please make welcome the effervescent Julia Christie. Julia is the proud mum of 3 little-un’s and the inventor of an amazing product called the Nail Snail.
As you know, inventing products is a passion of mine. Just coming up with an idea is hard enough, but seeing it all the way through to commercial success is a battle!
For Julia, it was an idea which came to her after injuring her baby. She woke up in the middle of the night with a brainwave and after a lot of luck, serendipity and tenaciousness, has created a global business with a team of 4 amazing women.
Today, we talk all things prototyping, networking, Crowdfunding, local Australian and global retail distribution, ecommerce, Amazon Live, and why a Chinese Patent is probably the best kind of IP you can have.
It’s such a great story, I hope you enjoy!

TAS 102 : Global Sources Virtual Summit – Sourcing, Freighting & Amazon Challenges with Meghla Bhardwaj and Steven Selikoff.
In this episode we welcome back to the show Meghla Bhardwaj from India Sourcing Trip and Steven Selikoff from Product Sourcing academy .
On the 10-12th November 2020 Global Sources Summit is running the Global Sources Virtual Summit which is an event very close to my heart, as it was the first speaking gig I ever had talking about Selling on Amazon in 2015.
Meghla’s coordinating the event, Steven is running a workshop and I’m on an ‘ask me anything’ panel. I wanted to give the event a plug, because the quality of the speakers and the topics is world-class and will propel you into success in 2021 like it has for me every time I’ve attended.
We chat about the challenges of sourcing, freighting and selling products on Amazon this year, as well as effigy burning before chatting through the event itself.
The tickets are only $45 USD each – Steven’s 6 hour workshop is $145 USD, but if you use a special promocode Meghla’s kindly offered you as a loyal listener to the show you’ll receive a 10% discount.
Please use TAS10 and head over to www.globalsources.com/summit to grab yours now before the 10th of November 2020. (if you’re listening the future, hope all’s going well for you and sorry you missed out!)

Ranking on Amazon 2020 & how you can drive sales using TikTok – Howard Thai and Anthony Lee – Signalytics : TAS 101
This week we’re joined by Amazon industry titans, Howard “The Professor of Amazon” Thai and Anthony Lee from Signalytics.
I first met Anthony HK way back at GSS 2015 and we did a podcast interview in Feb of 2018 (episode 015): I also met Howard at GSS – in Oct 2018. Since then they’ve both become partners in their new venture at Signalytics which helps Amazon brands launch their products using external, outside traffic to listings which Amazon loves.
Today we go pretty deep into what’s working for launching in 2020 – the poisoning of Rebate sites by low quality buyers, the insane rise and popularity of TikTok and how Anthony has been leveraging TikTok to amass a huge following of 61,000 users who follow him for Amazon and marketing tips.

From $350,000 in Debt to $200,000 in the bank using smart inventory management – Matt Hodge : TAS 100
Thanks for tuning into this, the 100’th episode of the show!
I started the podcast in September of 2017 – 3 years ago almost to the day… Since then there have been 70,000 downloads of the podcast which works out to (obviously) 700 listens per episode! The show has a 4.9 star review rating on iTunes (very excited to see my first 1-star review this month – thank you to that person!)
I don’t make any money from the show, there are no sponsors to speak of – it’s just for fun and the love of this business-model.
These last few weeks have been challenging for me personally, and I want to thank everyone for their support.
I am also in the process of exiting my main Amazon business, which is almost complete, and I hope to be able to share with you the story of why and how that has transpired in coming weeks or months.
OK, so this week we’re joined my friend Matt Hodge, who appeared as my very first guest on Episode 2. Matt is nuts-busy (as you’ll learn from our chat) so I feel quite blessed that he agreed to come on the show once again. His 1st episode is also one of the most downloaded and commented on. Had to get him back.
Today we go deep into everything, from how Matt has grown his business from low to mid-seven figures in the last 3 years, how he was able to go from seemingly making money on paper, but still finding the business in debt – to having cash in the bank, by changing his inventory management and ordering frequency.Of course we touch on Covid, Amazon’s latest inventory limits and much more…

DIY or Outsource? The One Man Army, Zack Franklin – AMZ KungFU : TAS 098
This week please welcome Zack Franklin who amongst other things is a veteran Amazon seller, based in Shenzhen who consulted to 7, 8 and 9 figure Amazon businesses within China.
I first met Zack in Hong Kong a few years ago when he spoke about being a ‘One Man Army’ – about the benefits DIY’ing as much as possible instead of outsourcing everything – which was then, and still is now, accepted wisdom.
What I also admire about Zack is he thinks deeply – dare I say philosophically – about everything we do when it comes to business and questions everything rather than just accepting conventional wisdom.
