Be Strong Men's Conference | Saturday Night | Brody Holloway There is a progression of moving away from God’s instruction during the period of the kings. Brody walks through Deuteronomy 17 in this Be Strong session to examine how their leadership principles should have followed the Word of God. This was the goal, but each generation moved further away from the Lord. No man could provide for the nation of Israel the way that only God could. God never intended that the kings would be the ultimate or final authority for the people in Israel. God raised up prophets and priests to uphold the covenant Word of God and go before Him on behalf of the people. They were empowered by the Holy Spirit and spoke with an authority that didn’t come from themselves. These positions of office always pointed to the hope that was to come in Christ the perfect King, the final Prophet, and High Priest. There has always been a tension between the kings, prophets, and priests but it is now synchronized because of Christ. He will do what all the men before us failed to do. He is our final mediator, seated on the throne. Be Strong Men's Conference | Breakout | Chris Sharon There’s a lot of suffering in our world right now. Nearly all of that suffering is at the hands of men who have either abdicated their responsibilities as fathers and husbands or who use their power to abuse others. During this Be Strong conference, Chris Sharon discussed what it means to be a true warrior. He outlined what God has given us and how to defend it. The Father has given us dominion over crucial areas of life, and what we do with it matters. This isn’t just a physical battle, it’s a spiritual one. The world needs godly men who will fight, lead, and reign well. It’s going to be hard and it begins with submission. Submit your heart to the Lord and give control over to Him. Be Strong Men's Conference | Breakout | Hank Parker Jr. There is no other name under Heaven in which men will be saved other than the name of Jesus.  We are commanded in Scripture to share the Gospel with those around us. We always need to be ready to give an answer for the hope that we have. But if you don’t know what the Gospel is, then it can be hard to articulate it. In this session, Hank Parker Jr. walked through what the Gospel is and why we need to share it. We need to live our lives with a higher awareness of the eternal souls around us. Your neighbor, friend, or coworker is standing in hostility to God and will one day bear His wrath. We need to realize that people are blinded by their sin. You don’t have the ability to save lost souls, but you can be faithful to share the Good News with them. We are called to be ambassadors. When we live in anger, we’re giving in to our flesh and we end up hurting others. Anger destroys families, marriages, and friendships. Whether we notice it or not, there are people looking up to you, ready to imitate every action you make. We need daily rescue and should strive to look like Christ in our reactions. Let’s give no opportunity to the Devil. Whether you want to or not, you are leading people towards a relationship with God—or away from Him. Men, we need to be discipling those around us by helping them develop a firm foundation for their faith. In this session, Zach outlines the importance of giving an answer for your faith. We can trust and know that God is the Creator of the world. Be confident in knowing what you believe and why you believe it. The frailty of human kings points us to the truth that no earthly king can do what only the King of Kings can. This doesn’t mean that we don’t work. There is a tension between God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility to work. God’s sovereignty does not enable us to sit back and do nothing. Like the men who have gone before us, we will fail often. But, we have to remain in the fight. Be Strong Men's Conference | Friday Night | Spencer Davis In 1 Samuel 15, we see the Israelites long to be like the nations around them. They began to reject Yahweh as their King and instead ask to live under the security and power of a man. The freedom they wanted was actually slavery. The Israelites assumed that they needed to be governed better, but what they really needed was obedience.In this session, Spencer walks through the importance of biblical obedience. As believers, we can’t pick and choose when we want to obey. It takes action on our part and must flow out of our identity in Christ. Your obedience to God matters in everything you do. People have died this year from all sorts of things: diseases, accidents, and natural disasters (to name just a few).  We believe that every human being has innate value as an eternal soul that has been created in the image of God. In fact, the reality that every human being is going to die makes each one of our lives more valuable. We need to fight against the hypersexualization of young girls. We need to help our young ladies find their identity in who God created them to be and not as sexual objects. This should come from the continued discipleship of the young people that God has placed in our lives.
