The reality of student ministry is that some kids will get it, and others won’t. The heart is the motivational structure of the soul, it determines how people think, feel, and act. The Gospel deconstructs our focus on self, but we continually return to our fleshly nature. A life lived with integrity, virtue, and consistency will maintain the trust necessary to preach hard truths.
