Zach Mabry | Be Strong Men's Conference | BreakoutZach spoke to husbands, fathers, and young men on how to be a godly man at our recent Be Strong men’s conference. Jesus is our ultimate example. Adam was created to work and keep the garden, but he failed in this. We can learn from Adam and rest in the truth that whatever he was created for (and failed in), Jesus fulfilled. If we want to grow and be godly men then we need to be intentional in our pursuit of Christ. We won’t naturally drift towards holiness. Only He can do the work of reconciliation. Christ must be the focus of our marriage. In this breakout, Shawn teaches how to bring reconciliation into our marriages, through Scripture. We need Jesus daily. And, we need to be rescued from ourselves. Men, we have to stop playing the blame game. We must fight against our desire to be right and bring Jesus into the middle of our marriages. He created marriage to bring Him glory and honor. Without Christ, we can’t do it. But he didn’t once shrink back from his calling.Men, we have a great responsibility to carry out the calling, plans, and purposes of the Lord. Paul’s plan for ministry was clear and strategic. He worked hard and kept a high view of the sovereignty of God. God demands everything from us in our pursuit of holiness.Paul showed us how to fight the good fight. How do we fight the good fight and finish the race? To kick off Be Strong, Spencer walked through 2 Timothy 4, where Paul speaks of his last moments in this life. Paul fought the good fight. God has granted us with the kind of faith that finishes. He will complete the work He has started in us.But you won’t finish by sheer will or coincidence. We can’t will ourselves to decades of holiness. Christ renews our minds and changes our desires. In today’s culture, there’s a massive push away from the Gospel. Progressive Christianity rejects the doctrines that the early Christians died to preserve. Hebrews 1 reminds us of the Savior we serve and the authority he holds over this world. Jesus is the Creator, High Priest, and final Prophet. He is the exact representation of God’s glory. He isn’t just a reflection of the Lord, but the very image of God. Hebrews 2 warns believers against forgetting who Jesus is. We must pay close attention to the Gospel. The Word of God will shape who we are and how we see God. There are no passive pictures of pursuing personal holiness in the Bible. Never start the drift, remember why you’re laboring. Evangelism is sharing Jesus with your lips and your life. We are powerless to accomplish this without the Holy Spirit.
