The Partner Play Episode PLUS the ALW Incident

What does it mean to be a good partner? This week we re-frame that question and give tips on how you can become a better partner. Hopefully at least one will give you something you can work on in your doubles play.Playing with a partner is a two-way street, a team sport and our behavior impact our partners' play and vice versa. That team/partner dynamic is so important to your ability to succeed as a doubles team. So what's a good partner? In this episode, we're going to be talking about partner play, how to frame it a little bit differently than you're thinking, and also some tips on how you can become a much better partner out there. Pick the tip that most resonates with you.  In the riff, I want to talk about the recent situation that occurred with Annaly Waters, a young but very talented player, during a tournament; what happened, how folks have reacted to it, and what we as Pickleball players can take away from it. The Secret Sauce of Pickleball plus No Winter Starvation for You

When playing pickleball, less is more. A focus on 3 key shots can vastly improve your game. This week we’ll give examples from different areas of the game where “less is more” applies. This week's podcast will help you really gain focus on what you're doing and also improve your pickleball because you'll be able to shed just so much noise out of the situation that you're in and I'll give you examples of a couple of situations. You can take the concept of less is more and look at all sorts of different areas of the game. And I'm confident you're going to come up with the conclusion that in all of those situations, less is in fact more when you're playing pickleball. In the Riff, we're going to be talking about a concept that I was reminded of in the last couple of days- maintaining perspective and keeping things in context when we're playing the particular role out thereSend us an email: therapy@betterpickleball.comGet notified of our next Pickleball System Class. Lose Less to Win More PLUS $500 Million in Pickleball Injuries

Thanks for joining us on Pickleball Therapy - the podcast dedicated to your pickleball improvement. If you have not yet subscribed to the podcast ... wait what?? you haven't subscribed? ... you know what to do.The less you lose, the more you win by extension. This week we're going to be talking about the concept of losing less if you want to win more. Losing less is it's certainly making less unforced errors. A lot of times when you watch games, you'll have a team that's up too many points. Either it's unforced errors on returns of serve, force shots, things like that. By cleaning those things up, avoiding the number of unforced errors that we have in our play, we will lose less rallies.Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and that's great. That's how it should be. Winning is not our focus, our focus is whatever it is that brings you to pickleball. In the Riff, we're going to talk about the recent report that came out about pickleball injuries.Send us an email: therapy@betterpickleball.comJoin the July 20th WorkshopCheck out Tyrol shoes Use code BP10 at checkout

The Episode for YOU - Slow Yourself Out There (you're welcome :))

The game is getting fast, which may result in less-than-optimal play for you. It’s important to learn how to slow down both your shots AND your mind so you can see what’s happening in real time.Fast play can lead to less than optimal play for you. Because as you're running around, rushing around, you're not really taking the moment to focus on what's next or what you need to do to correct whatever error you're committing in your game. You need to be able to see what's happening on the court as you play in real time. Recognize what's going on on the court and recall what happened to make adjustments in your gameWe're going to be talking about slowing things down and not just the shots, we're talking about slowing down the mind.In the RIFF we're going to be giving you a tip on the actual technique you can use that you can employ to slow your mind down.Send us an email: therapy@betterpickleball.comJoin our mailing listOur next Pickleball System classAs always, thanks for joining us on Pickleball Therapy - the podcast dedicated to your pickleball improvement. Lost in the Pickleball Jungle? PLUS To Target or Not To Target

Winning and losing may not be helpful metrics, it's just how we score games. A better metric is what you come to play for. If you're getting those things, you're getting what you came for. As always, thanks for joining us on Pickleball Therapy - the podcast dedicated to your pickleball improvement. If you have not yet subscribed to the podcast ... wait what?? you haven't subscribed? ... you know what to do.In this episode I'll give you some suggestions on how you can reframe what you're going through and perhaps feel a little differently about the way you're playing pickleball and about your relationship with the sport in general, not just each time you play.To do this you have to start from a point of a different perspective than the one that perhaps you're used to. In the Riff, I talk about targeting, where you target a particular player in match play, when it's the right thing to do and when it should be reconsidered.
