Later, David emigrated to Canada where he pursued his undergraduate degree in Computer Science, and his master’s in business administration.  David has also had CISSP certifications since 2001. After moving again, and settling down in the US, David has been instrumental in transforming numerous technology start ups such as ProofPoint, Optiv, & HYPR. In 2013 David founded the New York Information Security Meetup, the largest independent information security group in the USA hosting over 85 live events in NYC. The group now has over 5500 active members. He then joined the consulting firm McKinsey 1993-2006 where, as a partner, he served energy companies and government agencies on issues of strategy and operations. He moved to Deloitte 2006-17 as a partner and he served clients in Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East, focusing on government in the fields of defence, tax, health and transport. Keith has led a series of charities and is committed to working to promote mentally-healthy workplaces. He was Chair at BuildAfrica 2010-15, the Mental Health Foundation 2014-20 and now Samaritans and Mental Health At Work. Today we are joined by Maik Schwarz.  Maik grew up in Somalia at the end of the 1980s and has since worked in all kinds of complex and volatile environments. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan with the Germany military and in 2007 he transitioned to the development sector and stayed in Afghanistan as a Risk Management Advisor for five more years. He played a key role in creating security and risk management structures and procedures across Afghanistan before moving to Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and then the Caucasus region. In 2014 he was tasked to set up a regional risk management structure in Eastern Africa, covering ten countries. Today we are joined by Dr. Mira Suleimenova.  Mira is an international privacy and data protection consultant. Mira holds a doctoral degree in Law and worked in legal consulting focusing on international investment protection for more than a decade. Blending her legal background with an affinity for technology, she became an expert in international privacy. Mira is now an independent privacy and data protection consultant. Today she works with startups and tech companies, closely collaborating with developers, product designers and management teams. Putting her passion for privacy to action, Mira helps them build products with privacy in mind and supports them in navigating the complex landscape of international data protection. In 2019 Mira co-founded Privacy Issues, a non-profit project that started as a newsletter dedicated to the intricate connection and co-dependency between privacy and technology.
