The House Energy and Commerce Committee has introduced the Homeowner Energy Freedom Act, legislation aimed to repeal three provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that restricts homeowners choices of home appliances and stringent energy codes for new homes. The Biden administration’s mandates for green energy wanted to end the use of gas appliances, forcing homeowners to switch to electric appliances. For the first time this year, the Federal Reserve announced a quarter percentage point cut to its benchmark interest rate this Wednesday. This decision followed months of public pressure from President Trump and his administration, who criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell as "too late" and "too slow." The cut was made despite inflation being above the Fed's two-percent target and is expected to be the first of several reductions anticipated this year. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray has announced formal charges against Charlie Kirk shooting suspect, Tyler Robinson, including aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice for hiding the rifle and discarding his clothing, and two counts of witness tampering for telling his roommate to delete texts and stay silent if the police interrogate him.
