We went to the White House!! PG:CC with Brett & Jordy Meiselas

For a political nerd like me being invited to the White House is like going to the Super Bowl. I was thrilled to be there, but even more excited to see the genuine passion the Biden Administration has for the country and its people. This is why I do what I do. To help people who care about the country, and to make sure that list of people grows every day. Today’s pod is a Candid Conversation with two of the three founders of the Meidas Media Network, Brett & Jordy Meiselas, who were also at the White House this week to celebrate and discuss the successes of the Inflation Reduction Act with other social media influencers. This was an impressive group of people listening to an impressive group of people and if we take anything away from this experience, it’s that the future of media is going to look quite different than the past, this Administration is the real deal, and it’s essential we keep them, and their party, in power.  Guest social:www.meidastouch.comTwitter: @MeidasTouchInsta: MeidasTouchBrett Meiselas: Twitter: @BMeiselas Jordy Meiselas: Twitter: @meidasjordy Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Thank you to today’s sponsors!www.aspiration.com/politicsgirldebitwww.clickup.com Code: PoliticsGirl

Candidate Conversations with Christy Smith (CA-27) and Dr. Annie Andrews (SC-1)

We are starting a new series leading up to the midterms called Candidate Conversations, where we chat with candidates from across the country to highlight races and people that you might not be as familiar with, but whose victories are essential and need your support. Today’s podcast will be split into individual conversations with 2 amazing Democratic congressional candidates, Christy Smith from California’s 27th congressional district, and Dr. Annie Andrews from South Carolina’s 1st. Both women are running in flippable districts where there is currently a Republican incumbent, and with the right support both candidates can, and will, turn these seats blue. Absolutely worth the listen and definitely worth the support. We talk about way more than just their districts. It’s a conversation about democracy, human rights and what it means to be an American representative.  Guest social:https://www.christyforcongress.orgTwitter: @ChristySmithCAhttps://www.drannieandrews.comTwitter:@AnnieAndrewsMD Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Thank you to today’s sponsors!www.framebridge.com Promo code: PoliticsGirlhttps://wondery.comAmerican Scandal: Snowden

Reproductive Freedom - PG:CC with Planned Parenthood’s Alexis McGill Johnson

Today’s podcast is a candid conversation with Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood. We are living at volatile time in American history. One entire party is hellbent on taking us backward into the worst parts of our country’s past filled with racism, homophobia, inequality and the subjugation of women. Since the reversal of Roe v. Wade, every day is a new affront to the value of women and those who require reproductive rights in our society. Every day comes with a fresh new story of archaic, backward laws and the trauma of the real people who have to live under these laws. Being female in America has never been easy, but with THIS Republican Party and THIS supreme court our lives, and the lives of those who can give birth, have become the newest cannon fodder in the culture wars. Guest social:https://www.plannedparenthood.orghttps://www.plannedparenthoodaction.orgTwitter: @alexismcgillTwitter: @PPFATwitter: @PPactInsta: plannedparenthoodLink Tree: https://linktr.ee/PlannedParenthood Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Don’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsor! www.thrivecausemetics.com/politicsgirlwww.thirdlove.com/politicsgirlwww.everlywell.com/politicsgirlwww.athleticgreens.com/politicsgirl

Union Strong! PG:CC with Mike Monroe

Today’s podcast is a candid conversation with Mike Monroe, the Chief of Staff to North America’s Building Trades Unions, a labor organization representing more than 3 million construction workers, composed of 14 national and international unions. Prior to joining NABTU, Mike served as the Political Director for Labor on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign, and is a passionate and successful advocate for the Labor Movement in America. The pandemic really opened our eyes to the essential nature of the workers of America, and how great the divide is between those who own the corporations and those who work for them. However, with the combined efforts of unions to represent the people, and a government that respects and supports the importance of unions, we can truly begin to reverse the ever widening gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” in this country. America doesn’t need to be like this. We must grow our middle class again, and to do that we need to look to the power of organized labor and the resurgence of the respect for the American worker.  Guest social:https://nabtu.orgTwitter: @NABTU Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Don’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsor!www.athleticgreens.com/politicsgirl

Justice Begins - PG: CC with Teri Kanefield

When we last had Teri Kanefield on the show she was reminding us that just because we weren’t seeing the results we wanted didn’t mean the wheels of justice weren’t turning. People wanted so badly for the DOJ to tell us they were investigating Trump, for Trump to be arrested, for RESULTS, but Teri has always believed that the fact that we were seeing so little, was good news for the health of the rule of law. She’s always stressed how important it is to not rush the process or abandon the rules simply because we wanted to. That one party has made it very clear they’re ready to abandon democracy and the rule of law and Teri has been equally clear we shouldn’t help them do that by abandoning the rule of law ourselves. 5 months later, after the search of Mar-a-lago we can see she was right when so many others were wrong. That Merrick Garland has been working diligently all this time and that justice might be finally on its way. Guest social: https://terikanefield.comTwitter: @Teri_KanefieldYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TeriKanefieldAuthor Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Don’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsor!www.splendidspoon.com/politicsgirlwww.beistravel.com/politicsgirlwww.aspiration.com/politicsgirl

The Psychology of America - PG:CC with Nick Carmody

Today’s pod is a candid conversation with Nick Carmody, psychotherapist, lawyer, and Executive Board Member for the World Mental Health Coalition. Nick uses his psychology expertise to look at politics and how politics affects the personality of the country. If there’s already political science, Nick believes there should be political psychology. We talk about what’s going on with the Republican Party, Trumpism, and the recent search of Mar-a-lago from a psychological perspective, and we discuss about how the cult of personality has transformed individuals into a tribe who seem almost pathologically devoted to Trump and Trumpism no matter how much damage they do to themselves or the country. Guest social: Twitter: @Nick_CarmodyWebsite: https://www.patreon.com/NickCarmody Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirlDon’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsors!www.everlywell.com/politicsgirlwww.clickup.com Code: PoliticsGirlwww.thirdlove.com/politicsgirl

Strongmen in America - PG:CC with Ruth Ben-Ghiat

We shouldn’t have to be talking about authoritarianism, strongmen and propaganda in 21st Century America, and yet here we are. Join me and my guest Ruth Ben-Ghiat, professor of History and Italian studies at NYU, advisor to ‘Protect Democracy’, and author of ‘Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present’ as we discuss the danger the United States is in, and what we, the voting public, can do as the last line of defense between us and the very worst instincts of the Republican Party.  Guest social:Twitter: @ruthbenghiatWebsite: https://ruthbenghiat.comPlease RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirlDon’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.comThank you to today’s sponsor!https://www.beistravel.com/politicsgirl

What's up with the economy? PG:CC with Deputy Director of the White House National Economic Council, Bharat Ramamurti

Want to understand what’s going on right now? We talk to Bharat about about inflation, the economy and all the things the Biden Administration is doing under the radar while the Republicans blame them for all the country’s woes. I promise this is actually a very hopeful episode. I know it doesn’t feel hopeful right now, with the prices so high and the corporate greed so rapid but, the National Economic Council is on it and the amount they’ve accomplished is incredibly positive. We just need to give the Democrats more power in the midterms to get more of their bills passed and we can definitely do that. Guest social:Twitter: @BharatRamamurtiLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bharat-ramamurti-4b10504/Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirlDon’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsors! athleticgreens.com/politicsgirlsplendidspoon.com/politicsgirllittlepassports.com/politicsgirl

1/6 Hearings & What Comes Next - PG:CC with David Bender

As our guest David Bender points out “It’s hard to watch the 1/6 hearings because it’s like looking directly into the sun. It hurts.” You can’t believe the President of the United States, the man who held the same office as Washington, Lincoln, JFK and FDR could’ve brought us so low. That he and his enablers could have put their own needs and desire to retain power ahead of the continuation of the American experiment itself. It’s difficult to absorb, but like the Nuremberg trials, the 1/6 committee is an essential part of holding ourselves accountable - we have to face what happened, acknowledge the shortcomings that allowed it to happen, and take responsibility so it never happens again. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. A five-alarm fire. If there was ever a time to care about this country, its democracy and its politics, now is that time. Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Don’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsors!athleticgreens.com/politicsgirlbetterhelp.com/politicsgirleverlywell.com/politicsgirlOra Organic - Text POLITICS to 64000

Election Integrity - PG:CC with Jennifer Cohn

American democracy is under attack in more ways than ever before. From the disinformation and voter suppression efforts based on Trump’s Big Lie, to the GOP abandoning democracy for their own power, to foreign cyber attacks and good old fashion voter machine manipulation. Congress is unable to pass a voter protection bill because the Republicans keep stonewalling and now the GOP are actively telling us they’re going to elect people who will cheat, suppress and even invalidate votes to make sure their candidates end up on top. We all need to vote, but we also need our votes are safe and secure when we do it. Today we talk to election security advocate, lawyer and political writer, Jennifer Cohn about what we can do, what we should demand and what we can look out for when it comes to protecting our elections.Guest social:Twitter: @jennycohn1Medium: https://jennycohn1.medium.com/jennifer-cohn-links-to-articles-podcasts-talks-and-interviews-8e7916bdfc77Please RATE and SUBSCRIBE so we can grow the show, open the dialogue, and inspire change moving forward! All show links here!: https://linktr.ee/politicsgirl Don’t forget to send questions via email, video or audio for the ASK PG Episode to: ask@politicsgirl.com Thank you to today’s sponsors! www.clickup.com - code: politicsgirlwww.beistravel.com/politicsgirl
