Donald Robertson - Verissimus: The Stoic Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius
On this episode, Donald Robertson shares how he’s sharing the values of stoicism in a new and riveting way. Donald Robertson is a writer, cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist and trainer. Donald specializes in teaching evidence-based psychological skills, and known as an expert on the relationship between modern psychotherapy (CBT) and classical Greek and Roman philosophy. He was born in Irvine, Scotland, and grew up in Ayr. He worked as a psychotherapist for about twenty years in London, England, where he ran a training school for therapists, before emigrating to Canada in 2013 to focus on his writing and training courses. He now divides his time between Greece and Canada. He is an experienced public speaker. His therapy practice specialised for many years in helping clients with social anxiety and self-confidence issues. Anthuan Maybank: The Olympic Gold Medalist That’s Building Future Champions (Part 2)
This week Anthuan Maybank returns to discuss how in-the-moment adversity requires long-term mindset strategies. Listen in as Anthuan and I discuss how to elevate yourself to the level of your own expectations, how he learned to trust himself after an injury, and the common mistake of letting an adversity become your ceiling. Olympic gold medalist Anthuan Maybank is hard to keep up with both on and off the track. He has proven his drive, adaptability, and time management skills in many ways over the course of his career, but his greatest strength lies in his ability to consistently motivate those around him. His dedication to track and field elevated him to the world stage, winning gold at the 1995 World University Games in the 200 meter dash and 4x400 meter relay. He then took home gold again at the 1996 Olympic Games in the 4x400 meter relay. Despite a packed schedule, Anthuan has not only concentrated on his own personal goals but has continually strived to improve the communities around him. He serves as the co-chair of the Marketing Committee for the National Academy of Finance benefiting youth college preparation at Howard High School. Through his business, Champion Body Strength Training, he has created a program to motivate youth called Building Outgoing Dynamic Youth (BODY). Furthermore, he leads week-long track programs for underprivileged youth at the St. Croix International Coaching Seminar and Clinic in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Native Vision Sports and Life Skills Camp on the Navaho Reservation in Farmington, New Mexico.
