EP274 with Dr. Kelly Flanagan: Illusions, Transformations, & Understanding

This week's guest is an exceptional storyteller - Dr. Kelly Flanagan. This father-to-three shares how he's rebelling against the dichotomy of providing for your family while pursuing your passions. How many men out there are not responding to a call that they have felt for a while out of fear? He has the desire to teach men that carrying the burden of providing for their family does not have to come at the expense of that other thing they're interested in.  Dr. Kelly shares how this showed up in his own writing career and talks about his new book, The Unhiding of Elijah Campbell. We dive into the idea of giving a voice to the younger version of ourselves and how we've outgrown playing as adults.  Dr. Kelly Flanagan is an author, speaker, personal growth and relationship consultant, and licensed clinical psychologist. He blogs regularly at drkellyflanagan.com, his writing has been featured in Reader's Digest, Huffington Post, and The 5 Love Languages, and he has appeared on the TODAY Show with his daughter. Kelly is the author of two non-fiction books, Loveable: Embracing What Is Truest About You, So You Can Truly Embrace Your Life and True Companions: A Book for Everyone About the Relationships That See Us Through. Both books debuted as the #1 New Release in Interpersonal Relations on Amazon. His first novel, The Unhiding of Elijah Campbell, will be released on October 18, 2022. Kelly is married to another clinical psychologist named Kelly, and they have three children who are eighteen, fourteen, and twelve years old. They live in a small town outside of Chicago.Where is find more about Dr. Kelly Flanagan:Website: https://drkellyflanagan.com/The Unhiding of Elijah Campbell: https://drkellyflanagan.com/unhiding-of-elijah-campbell/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/drkellyflanagan----------Want to learn more about The Adventure of Fatherhood?https://www.adventureoffatherhood.com/https://www.rebelandcreate.com/Each week Ned sits down with a dad and asks him to open up his field notes and share with other men who find themselves on the Adventure of Fatherhood.Follow us:Instagram: www.instagram.com/rebelandcreateYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/rebelandcreate/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rebelandcreate

EP272 with Nick Branon: See your Children

Nick Branon, a married, father of two, and a business owner, shares about how strict his father was growing up and how it has impacted his parenting. The role of the father is to lead them, protect them, and see them for who they are and who they are growing into. Our kids won't waiver who they are and it is important for us to truly see who they are inside.   Nick talks about his strong conviction for rebelling against a broken family. He reminds us that our kids need to see healthy marriages and show our kids how to love our wives. This intentional father shares some solid wisdom about the importance of imparting his values to his children while also nurturing who they are at their core. ----------Want to learn more about The Adventure of Fatherhood?https://www.adventureoffatherhood.com/https://www.rebelandcreate.com/Each week Ned sits down with a dad and asks him to open up his field notes and share with other men who find themselves on the Adventure of Fatherhood.Follow us:Instagram: www.instagram.com/rebelandcreateYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/rebelandcreate/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rebelandcreate

EP271: Kill your EGO and Inspire | Craft of Fatherhood

We talk about marriage as being an adventure as a battle to fight for. It can sometimes show up as the ego's desire to win the battle - even if it is against our wives.  This battle should be seen as an opportunity to fight alongside our wives and not just letting our ego win. This can force our wives to show up in the masculine form to protect her heart. Men, we are to provide and protect our wives. Look back at your week and see if there were places you needed to show up more in this area. Stop trying to win the battle and fight for these things.

EP270 with JR Parker: Embrace Each Stage of Fatherhood

This conversation with JR Parker is rich with wisdom from a man who knows the impact he has on not only his children but future Parker generations. He realizes how his commitment goes beyond just parenting until his children are 18. Ned and JR discuss the importance of finding friends and mentors that help you level up. They talk about how to cultivate it if that is something you're seeking and foster that for other men.JR talks about how fathers have so many roles throughout the lives of our kids.  Some last a lifetime. Others are temporary.  He talks about the deep influence his grandparents had on him growing up and how he's eagerly looking ahead to playing that role for his future grandchildren. He is rebelling against the idea that my main contribution to my family is a financial one. Instead, he shares how important it is to create an environment in which his kids feel loved and supported, where they feel safe enough to fail and push themselves to accomplish things they first might not have thought possible. This is a great conversation with a man who has learned the biggest impact that he is going to have on the world is the impact that I have on the lives of my kids. If more men realized this, our world would look drastically different.

EP269: Set aside time to REFLECT | Craft of Fatherhood

In this week's episode, we talk about setting aside time to intentionally reflect on life. With Thanksgiving behind us and the holidays and the end of the year on the horizon, it is important to reflect on the past year and what I want the next year to look like. Ned shares an annual practice that has helped him focus on this and it may inspire you too.

EP268 with Jim Haag: The DUTY of a Father

This conversation with my friend, Jim Haag, is full of wisdom from a disciplined man and father who's truly embraced his role as dad and shifted his lifestyle to lead his family in the most positive direction.  He shares how nutrition, fitness, and how taking control of his physical health helped put focus on how he wanted to show up as a dad. He shares what he's learned about his body chemistry and how this knowledge has played into the habits he's put in place to stay healthy and vibrant.  In this same vein, he shares the realization of how important it is to be the seeker in what you want out of life - not simply letting life drag you along.   We discuss the importance of intentional stability and how growing up with a dad who wasn't a strong source of stability shaped him and how he views fatherhood.Jim talks about fatherhood as a duty - not a right. He reminds us of the responsibility we carry as a father and how rigorous self-evaluation helps us show up as the best version of ourselves for our family and help break down barriers in our homes.

A few years ago, someone asked, “What do you do Jon?” He replied, “I’m a speaker, author, and founder of Front Row Foundation.”"Then I paused… Wait… let me try that again… “I’m a father and husband, and when I’m not doing that, I…” Parenting wasn’t something I did when I was off work. It was my primary work."Jon and Ned dive into his upcoming, Front Row Dads Live event. This event is for men who want to be amazing dads, incredible husbands, and great businessmen and excel in all aspects of their lives.
