Habit 11 | Have I forgotten how to read?

Here's a habit I have fallen out of; reading. Sure, I read a tonne of articles on my phone that I've clicked through to from social media, but it's been a long time since I've read a book. It's not because I don't want to. I've started loads, but never finish them. It's time to rediscover the art of reading and for someone like me, who has a hive mind and is easily distracted, it's something that I need to put a bit of effort into. Do I need to employ the skills from my previous habits - meditation and minimising my tech use - to make this work? Let's find out...Hey! Habit 10 | Will decluttering my wardrobe make me happier? UPDATE>

In part one of this tenth #26habits I edited my wardrobe down to a mere 33 items and in this catch-up show I reveal whether I've been hacking into the vacuum-packed bags of clothes I stored away, running down to the local charity shop in my pyjamas begging for my things back or whether I'm living my best life...To join the Facebook group >> The Emma Guns Show - The ForumFor the #26habits back catalogue visit >> The Pool.To read Tessa's feature on her experience with the Project 333 Challenge >> Why Having Just 33 Items of Clothing Could Mean You Have More to Wear.Hey! Ian Marber | Top tips for finding a diet that suits you.

Ian Marber (@ianmarber) joins me to talk about all things nutrition. If, like me, you find nutrition to be a topic that's endlessly confusing, or you've tried your best to do one thing, only to have someone tell you you should be doing another, Ian is a great resource. He is as no nonsense as they come when it comes to diet and food choices. He also has my favourite twitter poll called #nutribollocks where each week he pits the latest, and some might say ridiculous, claims against each other - the latest being structured water or diet coffee...To find out more about Ian or to book a consultation visit Ian Marber.Hey! Habit 10 | Will decluttering my wardrobe make me happier?

This #26habits, or a version of it, was something I didn’t feel brave, ready or inclined to do. I knew I wanted to get rid of everything in my wardrobe and start again, but the prospect of doing so was very easy to dismiss as ‘ridiculous’ and move away from quickly. In the last year I’ve had a series of spontaneous clear outs, but have never had the guts to tackle my closet - until now... I read Tessa Coates featureWhy Having Just 33 Items of Clothing Could Mean You Have More to WearonThe Pool and realised she’d given me the perfect stepping stone to my ultimate goal. The premise is to whittle down your wardrobe to just 33 items - the ones that don’t make the cut are kept out of site, donated or sold - and wear only these for three months. Even I didn’t realise why I was shying away from a wardrobe cleanse, until I followed the first step in the 333 Challenge and put every single item of clothing I own on my bed…Mentioned in the show:Project 333 by Courtney Carver. https://bemorewithless.com/project-333/Be More with Less https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simple-Ways-Be-More-Less-ebook/dp/B0056U9I52Robin James’ video Always Look Good | Finding Your Style in 2018 has some absolutely vital points for creating and maintaining a wardrobe that suits you. Marie Kondo: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying: A Simple, effective way to banish clutter forever. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-Changing-Magic-Tidying-effective-clutter/dp/0091955106Suggestions for clothing donations:UK https://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/clothing-bankUSA http://www.planetaid.org/get-involved/donate-clothesAustralia https://www.redcross.org.au/support-us/red-cross-shops/donate-clothing-and-goodsEurope https://www.refugeesupport.eu/help-us-by-donating-items/*Disclaimer: landfill is full of unwanted clothes so if you decide to do this, or a version of it, please donate, sell or repurpose your old clothes.Hey! Habit 9 | How can I live a more environmentally friendly life?

Climate change is real. I'm not being flippant, but with some people questioning whether global warming is actually something we need to worry about it's time to look at some hard facts. Millions of tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean each year, plastic bags take upwards of 1000 years to degrade and knowing what can and can't be recycled isn't an easy as it maybe should be.In this ninth #26habits I'm looking at the small, sustainable changes I can make to the products and services I consume and the way I recycle that will stop me contributing to the problem. Just a small about of internet research and I found that things I thought could be recycled can't and vice versa. It's time to educate myself as much as it's time to make changes.Tune into the show to find out what steps I'll be taking over these next two weeks to break the habit of unwillingly contributing to climate change. To join the closed Facebook group please click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To email me directly please use thebeautypodcast@gmail.comTo find the #26habits back catalogue and further reading on sustainability, climate change and much more, visit The Pool.Hey!
