Daniel's Story

I spoke with Daniel about what brought him through addiction and into recovery. Starting from a young age Daniel not only learned to mask his feelings with substances, but also how to keep secrets from those closest to him. He talks about his low point, but also how his family played and continues to play a key role in his recovery. He lives a principled life to the best of his ability, recognizing the process unfolds over time. Samuel's Story

Joining us back in February was Samuel. We had a great conversation about his journey through trauma early in life, which paved the way to addiction throughout his teen years. He made his way through a number of programs before finding the connection he needed to walk down the path of recovery. Today he focuses on his training and working towards his goals to help maintain his sobriety. Thank you Samuel! Keep it up out there my friend. Chaz's Story

Chaz and I have a lovely chat over the phone this week. He is out there in the community with his group, Be The Change YYC, bringing much needed outreach and advocacy for those experiencing homelessness. He and I chat about where the province has gone wrong by overriding the municipal government in respects to housing the homeless during this pandemic. He is not only intelligent and caring, but passionate and driven as well. We are all lucky he is out there doing what he is. Thank you Chaz. I appreciate you. Lona's Story

Lona drops in and shares her incredible journey with us. She talks about memories of scary church plays, feelings of rejection for being gay, thoughts of suicide, and the challenges facing both closeted and open gay humans. She lived through abusive relationships, drinking daily for 6 years, and the constant self doubt and self-loathing. Lona has been sober for 16 months, and some of her keys to recovery are getting involved with the fellowship, working the steps, working with others, and finding freedom from negative self talk! Jenn's Story

This week, my other friend, Jenn... joins us and shares her story. It starts with major changes at an early age, which led to feelings of not fitting in and her rebellious teen years. Although she knocked on the doorway to recovery early in her life, she was able to stick with recovery after going through an adolescent focused recovery treatment center. Since then she dedicates both her professional and personal time to helping some of the most vulnerable humans. Thank you for your time and thank you for all that you do out there, my friend.
