Jack Lengyel - The REAL Head Coach of 'We Are Marshall' - AMAZING real life story rebuilding Marshall Football after the Most Tragic Event (plane crash) in American Sports History

THE GAME OF LIFE PODCAST  (ALL THE PODCASTS AND HOW TO LEAVE A REVIEW) https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/game-life-david-nurse-nba-life-coach-self-improvement/id1226281669?mt=2   Jack Lengyel - EPISODE 16 Welcome back to the Game of Life Podcast there we bring to you the behind the scenes in the lives of NBA players, business savvy enertapreneuars and top level performers in all fields of personal development. The podcast that helps you become the best version of...you.   This week on the Game of Life Podcast we have Jack Lengyel  . Now you might be wondering, who is Jack Lengyel? - if I said we had Matthew McConaughey on the podcast would you know who that is?  We basically do, the real life version of the the head football coach for Marshall University (McConaughey's We Are Marshall movie) Jack took over the program as the head football coach after the devastating Southern Airways Flight 932 crashed into a hill just short of it's destination killing all 75 people on board. The plane was carrying 37 members of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team, nine members of the coaching staff, 25 boosters, and four flight crew members. The accident is the deadliest tragedy affecting any sports team in U.S. history. And Jack had the task of rebuilding not only the football team, but an entire community struck by devastation.    Jack goes in depth today on what it was like transforming tragedy into hope, building a football team that had absolutely no players (taking walk on, baseball players, and literally hippies- you'll love that story!)    Jack's story is one of absolute inspiration. In times where Jack could have succumbed to the treacherous rebuilding road, to the adversities that struck daily along the way, to an entire community putting the weight of their existence on his shoulders, Jack rose above it all and brought the town of Huntington, West VA together as one. I'm serious, this conversation gave me goosebumps throughout - it's one of the most tragic/inspirational stories you will ever here.  Get ready.   -------------------------------------------------------------------   SPONSOR: AMPLE-- Before we do through, I want to tell you about what I eat every single day for lunch. I'm an absolute health nut (but not in a crazy kale, lettuce, everything green kind of way) I want my healthy food to taste good. Really good. That's exactly why I make a big massive smoothie everyday for lunch with Ample.  Let me break this down for you --- Here is what Ample will bring to you from a health perspective:  https://www.amplemeal.com   Code: NURSE 15% off at checkout        -------------------------------------------------------------------     FINISH:    3 Pointers - 3 things I am learning/experimenting with this week:   1. Book I'm reading - Essentialism by Greg McKeown The Way of the Essentialist isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done. It is not a time management strategy, or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution towards the things that really matter.  https://itunes.apple.com/us/audiobook/essentialism-the-disciplined-pursuit-of-less-unabridged/id839192902   2. Health product Im using -  Ashwaganda - https://authoritynutrition.com/12-proven-ashwagandha-benefits/   3. Basketball Insight -  In the UCLA gym this past week we had James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Carmelo Anthony, Jimmy Butler, Demar Derozan, over 20 nba players all together. Upwards of 1 billion dollars on the court playing pick up basketball in a gym on the top floor of a recreation center that has been around since John Wooden at UCLA.  I might just have to do a podcast on this Gym and the special aura it has - Kareem, Magic, Jordan, everyone who is anyone has come through the the mysterious gym.  Oh and Kanye West asked me to play pick up with him as well - let's just say he's not 7feet tall. Or 6feet.        LEARN MORE ABOUT JACK: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Lengyel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Airways_Flight_932 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Are_Marshall     FOLLOW DAVID NURSE Instagram: davidnurse5 Twitter: davidnurse05 Facebook: David Nurse   HOW TO LEAVE A REVIEW IN ITUNES: https://www.jeffsanders.com/review-a-podcast-in-itunes-video/   Learn more about your ad choices. Connor Young - Revolutionizing the Food Industry - Ample

Hope you all had a great 4th of July week/weekend/month/ however long you celebrated it. You know whats even more important to celebrate- another week of the Game of Life of course. I'll be your host today as I am every week, David Nurse. Extremely thankful to all of you out there listening making this possible. I absolutely LOVE learning and growing with you guys.  And do we have a great one this week for you!   Not only is this guest the founder of a revolutionary product in the food industry but he is literally one of the sharpest, most well studied, genuine human beings I have ever met when it comes to healthy diet and lifestyle.  I know that term is very broad - health - but the guest today will break down in depth exactly what it means to live a healthy lifestyle, the steps you can take starting today to implement it into your life, how his product Ample is not just a product but a movement, the sciencey nutritional value in Ample that makes it the NEXT big thing in the food industry.  The guest this week on the Game of Life- Connor Young.  I've been very blessed to get to know Connor and right from the first time we met, I knew there was something special about this guy.  He isn't in it for the money of building a company (already been offered multi million dollar buy outs, and turned them down) He is in it to teach everyone on the face of the planet the truth about nutrition, why 95% of what the public preaches is false, and give you the life hacks of how to become healthy, and basically control your body by simply having the knowledge. Knowledge is power and Connor is packing  a full episode full of it.  Super interesting episode, see you at the end!        Break: Very interesting 1st half of the podcast - as you can tell Connor is a mad scientist when it comes to nutrition.  Ample is not just a product, it's a movement. Think Bulletproof Coffee, the juguranaut Dave Asprey has created.  Ample is going to be the same thing - but for an even bigger market: overall nutrition and healthy lifestyle. Not diet, lifestyle.      SPONSOR: So gotta tell you about what I have been using to train my NBA players. It's literally the cutting edge of muscle memory development and overall self improvement in any aspect.  Halo. Steph Curry uses it, Kevin Love uses it, The North Carolina Tar Heels won a Nat'l Championship using it.  Halo is......  Neuropriming is the process of using electrical stimulation (such as transcranial direct current stimulation, or tDCS) to increase plasticity in the brain prior to an activity. This process decreases the amount of input required for neurons to fire, and helps neurons fire together, enabling more rapid strengthening of connections in the brain. When paired with quality training, this results in increased strength, explosiveness, endurance, and muscle memory Enter the code NURSE for $125 off at Checkout     Back to the podcast 2nd half preview To recap, you learned about the importance of mitochondria and the super human cells we have in our body - the decisions we make by living a healthy lifestyle if we increase or decrease these cells, how twisted and backwards the public perception of heath is, what Connor is doing through Ample to change the mindset, starts a much needed movement, and overall his passion to educate the general public.  In the 2nd half you are going to learn Connor's daily routine, his life hacks for self improvement, quotes he lives by, the future of ample and the food industry all together, and much more. Buckle up, here we go!     Finish Big time thanks to Connor for coming on The Game of Life.  Really encourage you all to try Ample for yourself, you will see how effective it is, not to mention how crazy deliciously tasty, satiating it is.  It is what's coming next and you have the chance to be on the healthy lifestyle train first. The NBA players I work with drink it - muscle milk, chocolate milk, shhhhhh... Check it out and let me know your thoughts.  Not a plug at all but you can get a discount through using the code NURSE for 15% off.      3PTS-   My 3pts of the week have turned into my 1 pointer of the week. But of course it's worth it.  I'm going to tell you about my breakfast and lunch - basically my POWER coffee and my POWER smoothie.    Power coffee: Straight black coffee on Chemix pour over. Organic coffee, mix in some MCT powder or oil, cinnamon, Bulletproof Vanilla, blend it out in a Ninja smoothie for extra froth and creaminess.  Big massive cup of this (basically the equivalent of 3-4 cups) some green tea as well and we are ready to roll until Noon!   Power smoothie: Ample Half Avocado Epic Bone Broth  Ice  Cocoa Nibs One scoop of coconut butter (from Artisian) BEST TASTING SMOOTHIE EVER!!   Let me know your coffee game and your smoothie game! I'll be honest, I have listened to this podcast 4 times already just to make sure I soak up all the tips, tricks, and life hacks Sanjiv talked about.  Here is how we can apply it to our lives - Sanjiv's 5 simple things to do every single day: drink coffee, mediate, movement/exercise, eat nuts, and get vitamin sunlight.  Sanjiv was doing that all before 7am!  Simple. And think, if you do that every day, your life with positively improve every day.   I think the underlying theme that Sanjiv teaches us is to really embrace the moment and soak it all in. Soak in every little morsale that life provides in the moment. I think that is so key to do, but so hard to do as society tells us we ALWAYS need to be concerned about 'getting ahead' or 'whats coming next'   Enjoy the moment with the ones you love, slow down your pace in life, and realize you are in the place you are right now currently at this moment in your life for a reason, for a purpose.  Thank you Sanjiv, you are truly an inspiration to myself and I know to all the listeners as well.        Everything from this week's episode will be linked in the show notes. Jeremy Lin - The Best Story & The Best Role Model of the NBA

JEREMY LIN: We have a very special one for you today. I think all of you probably know of him, have watched him play, and have followed his amazing path in the NBA.  I'm beyond blessed to be able to call him a great friend and someone who I them exemplifies everything good about professional sports and the way athletes should be.  Best role model in the NBA, one of the most caring, giving, philanthropical players and just people that I know.  A guy who is the essence the an underdog story and someone who plays for a great purpose than himself. Should I keep the suspense building....??? The Game of Life Podcast welcomes Jeremy Lin.... We're about to dive deep behind the scenes with Jeremy and join him on the roller coaster ride that was Linsanity, learn his secrets of how he improves himself every day, and a rapid fire round of questions heard no where else than here on the Game of Life....     SPONSOR: MITCHELL AND NESS Gotta tell you about our sponsor today - Mitchell and Ness.  The hippest, swagiest, just straight up coolest gear there is on the market. It's what all the NBA players are wearing - if you see basically any hat one of these players are wearing, it's Mitchell and Ness.  Any throwback jerseys, yep thats them too. Lot of MJ votes out there... we'll see... Keep the coming at davidnurse05 on twitter, davidnurse5 on IG or hit me an email anytime. Love to hear from you all!   With jeremy on the podcast and the GREAT underdog motivational story that he is - we are going to go with the top 3 underdog stories in all of sports (not including jeremy)   3. Kurt Warner  - Undrafted and went from bagging groceries at Hy-Vee in Iowa to winning the Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams.  Actually played golf with him when he was playing for the Arena League Iowa Barnstormers the year before he went to St. Louis.  (So basically I take all credit for his success after he dominated me at golf)    2. Tom Brady - If you haven't watched the Brady 6 documentary, get on that right now! It's the most motivational story of determination, grit, and never letting anyone tell you that you can't do something.  From the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft to arguably the best quarterback of all time.     1. Steve Nash - Small, not overly athletic kid from the middle of no-where Canada, overlooked by basically every college (one scholarship offer from Santa Clara) No one believed in this undersized mop-top kid.  2 time MVP, one of the best overall point guards in nba history.          CLOSING   How awesome was that!  I told you, Jeremy is just an all around high level character person.  The epitome of the perfect role model for any kid out, for any person out there for that matter.  Perseverance and trust and faith in the Lord, and I'll tell you what, you can do anything. And Jeremy is living proof of exactly that.  Check out everything he is doing, support his foundation, just join in on Jeremy's passion of helping to give back and genuinely making this world a better place. I know it sounds cliche to say that, but Jeremy is motivation that we all can do our part, as small as it might be, but no matter how small it all adds up.      FOLLOW EVERYTHING JEREMY: Instagram and Twitter: JLin7   One Day's Wages: https://www.onedayswages.org Jeremy Lin Foundation: http://www.jeremylinfoundation.org     FEEDBACK: I'd love to hear from all of you out there. Seriously, hit me - give me feedback on how we can keep making this podcast better, topics you guys want me to focus on, any high level performers out there that you think I should bring on - let me know and we'll get them on.  One of these episodes coming up here we'll do an audience question and answer. That'd be fun.  You know what, the coolest thing about this podcast is it's not just me talking to you, its US talking together. We're basically hanging around campfire, roasting marshmallows, making us some smores, listening to someone play the guitar that really isn't very good but we act like they are. Yeah you know what i"m talking about.  Anyways, we're family - Game of Life family.  Thank you so much for listening and making this possible. Until next week - Hope you all have a  great week. Dr. Drew Hall - How this little known procedure can literally change your life

Podcast world, whats going on! David Nurse and the Game of Life. This is a really exciting one this week.  I'm going to pretty much guarantee that 99% of you out there have never heard of this. And if I tell you it is literally life-changing, can bring people out of depression, can radically improve mobility and overall body health, increase basically every aspect of your life. Would you believe me?  Probably not.  That's ok - you're about to find out why one movement can change everything (and has for many people)    Welcome Dr. Drew Hall to the podcast.  Dr. Hall specializes in helping people recover from chronic long standing health conditions through what is called Upper Cervical Chiropractic, for patients that have not responded to mainstream medical treatment.  Oh mainstream medicine and the 'groupthink' that it has created.  I know you probably get the image of 'chiropractor' bending and popping every joint in your body. I know, I know. I thought the same thing too. I have seen this live and in person, and trust me in 30 minutes you will have a completely different view.       BREAK----   Yep, told ya.  This literally can change lives. Is there really anything more powerful than the ability to change someones life and overall perspective and joy for life.    Our sponsor this week of the podcast -  Ample. And we got you a code!! Oh yeah.  Go to amplemeal.com and enter the code NURSE into the check out for 15% off. You can get a lifetime supply of it. Seriously.  I just ordered 30 more.  Literally what I look forward to in my days (other than coffee of course) Ample smoothie, blended in with ice and avocado - super thick and super good! Tastes like chocolate ice cream.   It's designed to give you sustenance without the energy crash. Ample contains the perfect amount of protein, healthy fats, fiber and pre & pro biotics, every green you could basically imagine - like wheatgrass, ashwaganda, jerusleum artichoke, macadamian nut oil, and everything else that is good and green while hitting the perfect ratio of macros and micros.  Check them out at amplemeal.com   This will also be linked in the show notes.       Break --   3 pointer time!    The 3 points of the week are:   In commemoration of the nba finals we are going to roll with our 3pters of the week being the top 3 nba teams ever assembled.  And this is going to be the debate for a long time, trust me on that. It already is.   #3. 1971-72 LA Lakers.  Going old school here - Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlin, do I need to say more?  And they say there weren't any 'big 3' powerhouses back in the day.  Yeah.  69 win season and a title with a stretch of winning 33 straight. Though to beat that.   But 2 teams do.    And here is the hot debate --- #2 1995-96 Chicago Bulls -  Yep, there it is. MJ, Pippen, Rodman and the crew - 72 win season, title over the Stockton/Malone Utah Jazz.  But, not the best team of all time.  And anytime you say 'MJ' isn't the best of all time in a category, there is going to be a revolution. Literally.  Sorry MJ.   #1  2016-2017 Golden State Warriors -   We are all witnessing history literally in front of our eyes.  On a team that has the best shooter to ever play the game in Steph Curry, one of the best pure scorers to ever Kevin Durant, another top 5 shooter of all time Klay Thompson, role players who are All Stars, the most high powered offense in the history of the game, and one of the highest defensive efficiencies over the past 3 years. The numbers speak for themselves, but the eye test - its a thing of beauty. Literally the most beautiful flowing basketball that has ever been assembled.      Now the debate of best player ever....Thats another story.  And will be coming soon to the 3pters of the week.  I'd love to hear from you on who you think is the best team and best player ever. In the show notes I'll add in my email and feel free to reach out anytime. Also shoot me a message on twitter or ins instagram anytime and I'll get back to you right away. Links to those in show notes as well.        Huge thanks to Dr. Drew Hall for coming on this week's podcast.  As you can see, upper cervical can be a life changer- seriously!!     Links from the show: http://drdrewhall.com   YouTube video explanations:  https://www.youtube.com/user/subluxationskill         AMPLE: https://www.amplemeal.com CODE: NURSE    15% OFF!!!         SOCIAL MEDIA:  INSTAGRAM: davidnurse5 Twitter: davidnurse05         Learn more about your ad choices. I know I say a lot of things are game-changers, but this literally is! You're about to find out how to get the best night's sleep, what athletes at the highest level are doing to increase sleep, the optimal hours for sleep, how to effectively nap, and basically through sleep increase value to every day.  Hope you have your pillows handy. Let's go!        SPONSOR: AMPLE Our sponsor this week of the podcast -  Ample. About to blow your mind here. All right so there is a lot of 'meal replacements' out there on the market. But none like this (and trust me I am picky) So each meal comes in a bottle,  and is designed to give you sustenance without the energy crash. Ample contains the perfect amount of protein, healthy fats, fiber and pre & pro biotics, every green you could basically imagine - like wheatgrass, ashwaganda, jerusleum artichoke, macadamian nut oil, and if I kept reading all the goodness packed into this bottle we'd never get back to the podcast.  And the even better news - it tastes GREAT!!! I blend mine everyday with ice to get it super thick and it basically tastes like chocolate ice cream. I'm not even exaggerating.  Healthy chocolate ice cream, are you kidding me?  Check them out at amplemeal.com  I'll get you guys a code here soon as well so you can save bundles on it and make it your go to meal of the day. I almost look forward to it as much as I do coffee. And that's saying a lot as you all well know.   This will also be linked in the show notes.       3 pointer time!  The 3 points of the week are:   My workouts to stay in shape, not spend all day in the gym, and actually be excited to work out.   The worst thing I think is when people say they hate to exercise. Why? You can make it fun, it doesn't have to be a chore. Once it becomes a chore, you gotta switch it up.  If you can make it the fun part of your day and something you look forward to, that's a huge win!   Here are 3 of my favorite that I try to incorporate every week 3. Yoga --- abosoultey love it. And no I'm not a long bearded yogi..  I hit it or about 10-15 minutes a day, that's all you need. I like to mix in deep breathing through my nose with it too - just gets me super relaxed, better mobility, gives me more energy for the day, great way to start to attack your day.    2. High intensity interval training - but with a purpose, and things you like to do.  It's quick, its efficient - run 5-10 sprints, throw some tires around, lift a few heavy objects, creating your own workout. You don't have to go to a crossfit gym or something way over the top like that. Have fun creating your own workout - keep it short and intense. Couple times a week and you're golden   3. Play your sport -- As kids we all loved to get out there an play something. Whys that gotta stop? Just because we're not kids we can't play anymore. Bogus!!  I LOVE getting up and down playing basketball, the tennis court, basically anything with competition (not named golf) and I'm all in. Get your kid spirit back.   There it is, the 3pters of the week - Yoga, High intensity interval training, and play.  Overall make it FUN! make exercise enjoyable, definitely doesn't have to be a chore.      FEEDBACK:  I'd love to hear from all of you out there. Ian Eagle - The Best Voice in Broadcasting (Better than Morgan Freeman)

This week we've got an awesome guest for you! Literally since this Podcast's birth I've been wanting to have him and this week we lassoed him in. One of the most overall talented people I know, the only person I'd let read bedtime stories to me (other than Morgan Freeman), extremely accomplished Emmy Award Winning (and who I am very blessed to able to call him a good friend - Ian Eagle) If you watch any sport on the thing called the television you have probably heard his voice, and been mesmerized by it.  His story, one of the most motivational I have heard - true inspiration of what it means to follow your dreams, never let anyone tell you no, and how to prepare every day to be the best individual, the best in his field, just the epitome of a super high level performer that is making a positive impact on society.    HALO Gotta tell you about my guys at Halo Neuroscience.  They are changing the game in sports development and really overall brain stimulation and high level learning. Halo is a next level human performance development that increases muscle memory, brain focus/funcitionality, neurons flying around synapsing all over the place - and just making you awesome. That's my best explanation. Seriously, if you want to improve at anything in life - check them out.  And Halo is giving me the opportunity to give you a big fat discount on having your own Halo headphones, and being just like Steph Curry, who is about to win another NBA finals.   Go to haloneuro.com and enter the code David125.  You will get $125 off your headphones.       3pters of the week!   Since we have arguably one of the best sports broadcasters of all time on the podcast this week we're going to stick with theme of sporting events.  I'm going to hit you with my top 3 sporting events I have personally been to, the top 3 sporting rivalries you might not know about, and the  top 3 sporting events on my bucket list.   3. Tie between sumo wrestling in Osaka Japan, heated soccer games in the slums of Brazil, and watching Manny Paciqou coach and play for his basketball team his is also the GM for. Yep. Not a whole lot else you can say about that.  2. Kentucky Derby  1. London Olympics 2012   Top 3 sporting rivalries you might not know about 3. Australia vs. New Zealand Rugby  2. India vs. Pakistan Cricket 1. Kobiashi vs. Joey Chestnut Nathans 4th of july hot dog eating contest    Bucket list sporting event Running with the Bulls in Pamplona Spain       THANK YOU TO IAN Super cool to hear the inspiration from Ian - Having a dream, having a goal and taking a step every day to reach that goal.  And so cool to know that really anyone can do what they set their mind to. I know it might sound cliche to say that. But I know you can, I'm living proof, Ian is living proof. It's all about not being afraid to take a risk, being comfortable with who you are, and realizing failure is only failure if you don't take the chance    NOTES ON IAN & WHAT HE HAS BROADCASTED French Open for Tennis Channel Masters Online commentary of Amen corner 09 Voice of the announcer for NBA 07, 08 and 09 for PSP NBA playoff announcing for NBA TV Hosts NBA Action, a weekly highlights and features show for NBA TV Announces preseason New York Jets telecasts on WCBS-TV in New York Host of Nets Magazine, a look inside the New Jersey Nets for the YES Network Voiceover for Modell's radio commercials and in-store voiceovers Voice of NBA Action from 2004–present Co-hosts Power Performances presented by Courtyard by Marriott on CBS.Sportsline.com NFL Thursday Night games on Westwood One, with Trent Green as his color man Lee Myles Commercials On the song Games by Dog Eat Dog Voice of announcer on NBA Shootout video game series by 989 Sports.   HOW TO FOLLOW IAN   WATCH SPORTS ON TV!!!!    Learn more about your ad choices.
