331 How To Resolve Feelings of Unworthiness and Reach Your Goals
Do you struggle with feelings of unworthiness? Does it hold you back from reaching your goals? Today I am joined by Paul Summers Jr, the author of “Hide and Seek: A Dad’s Journey From Soulless Addiction to Sole Custody” He had reached out to be a guest on the podcast, and after a short discussion we decided to do a coaching call to address the feelings he was having around promoting his book. Feelings of not wanting to be a pushy sales guy, or being sensitive to critical feedback. We do a demo of parts work, to get to the root cause of where these feelings come from, and Paul was able to heal some old wounds in the process. I want to thank Paul for his courage and vulnerability. I think it will help for others to see how deep work leads to feelings of peace and positive productivity. So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Paul, and share it with a friend! Have you ever wondered, with all the changes and new information we have on alcohol use disorder and addiction, are the 12 steps still relevant? Well today I have invited Dr Stephanie Covington to help us answer this question, as well as to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her bestselling book “A Woman’s Way Through The 12 Steps”. 325 Battling the Drinking Culture of High-Pressure Industries
Loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression are just some of the feelings that plague us when we’re in the throes of addiction. They are the reason a lot of people drink and get caught in the cycle of a dysfunctional relationship with alcohol. Today my guest Nick Jonsson shares his experience of abusing alcohol, losing his marriage, and the depths of his despair before finally finding a solution that transformed his life. Nick has taken what he has learned and wrote a book for those in the corporate world who are struggling in silence, in hopes of bringing solutions for a more peaceful, connected and fulfilling life. It was actually so interesting for me to hear how in some parts of the world, the message of recovery is still not reaching the people who need it. There’s still so much stigma attached to alcohol use disorder. I would encourage you, my loyal subscribers, to share this episode with all your friends. You just never know who might be able to help. I do have one quick announcement - I know not everybody can afford private coaching, so if you feel like you could use some support, and you’re willing to record one on one sessions with me anonymously, then shoot me an email at arlina@odaatchat.com or visit soberlifeschool.com and set up a free strategy call. The way this will work, is I will take 2 or 3 listeners through some coaching sessions, record them and then publish them anonymously as bonus episodes so that others can learn how to process through challenging situations. So if you think you would benefit from coaching, and you are willing to be of service to others, then shoot me an email and I’ll look forward to speaking with you! So without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Nick Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podcast Addict, YouTube Podcasts, Amazon Music, or on your favorite podcast platform. 324 An Alternative Path To Recovery, Overcoming Shame and Creating A Sober Community
If you’re listening to this podcast, I’m sure you’re familiar with the whole shame spiral of drinking. You know, swearing to yourself that you’ll never drink like that again, the rush of shame and anxiety after a bad night of drinking, only to find yourself feeling better by evening and starting the cycle all over again. Well what if nobody is telling you your drinking is getting out of hand? What if you have to come to that conclusion all on your own? That’s exactly what happened to today’s guest. In this episode, I’ll be joined by Author, Ted Talk Speaker and recovery advocate, Samantha Perkins, who not only shares the dark side of drinking, but how she found her own path to recovery, outside of traditional programs. We do mention a ton of books, so I would like to encourage you to check out our partner, Audible. It’s a monthly membership where you can download all the books we mention, but in audio format, and oftentimes, read by the author, which is really cool. For me, audiobooks are great because I can listen when I’m walking the dog, working in the garden, puttering around the house, driving, working out… you get the picture. In fact, I have grown so accustomed to listening to books, I rarely buy the physical copies anymore. And for my listeners, you can actually get your first book free when you sign up, by visiting odaatchat.com and clicking the Audible logo on the right. I actually have 211 titles on my phone right now, so when I tell you it’s awesome, I'm not even exaggerating… Anyway, I’m really excited to share this conversation with you, so without further delay, please enjoy this episode with Samantha, and let me know what you think!
