Ep. 155 - Hall of Fame | Shiv Haria - Being A High Performer To Stay In Shape For Life
Today I’m joined by long term RNT’er, Shiv Haria, who epitomises everything about our mission at RNT, and I can’t wait for you to listen to this conversation between us. While Shiv’s started off as a journey to improve his physique, it’s developed and evolved into a journey of how to become a high performer in all areas of his life. Especially for his career – where he uses the physical as the vehicle to fuel his growing business. A common trait we’ve seen in those who STAY in shape year round is that it goes beyond the physical. It becomes about connecting the dots between what the physical gives to your highest priorities in life – whether that be your relationships, career, health or business. It has to be about something more, and it has to become about being a high performer in that domain. For context, Shiv has held a ‘4 pack’ for over two years now, which shows his real change. When you start using rules to fuel your performance, you stay in shape as a byproduct. Having rules that work takes trial and error, education, accountability and effective coaching to get right, and it’s arguably the most important part of building a lifestyle solution that works for you year round. In this episode, we discuss the first three years of his journey, and how he’s moved through the gears to unlock more and more on his pursuit of self mastery. If you want to learn how to be a high performer and STAY in shape, listen right till the end of this one. ‘’You can’t expect to be having universal transformations on day 3’’ - Shiv Haria Timestamps: 4:13 – The Zac Efron inspiration 5:08 – The initial trigger 7:19 – PT vs transformation coach 8:49 – The rules 10:35 – The art of buffering 13:43 – Sticking to your guns 15:15 – What’s your why? 19:12 – Automating decisions 23:07 – Shiv’s purpose 25:21 – Mum’s heart attack 28:12 – Controlling your mind 31:27 – Embracing the journey 33:50 – The lifestyle solution 39:01 – The power of self-awareness 41:14 – Flexibility and freedom 48:05 – The chimp paradox 50:29 – Managing habits 53:57 – Ego and coaching 55:09 – Growth mindset 59:03 – Gratitude to physical health Thanks so much for listening! Ep. 152 -Stress, Psychedelics And The Five Pillars Of Health w/ Neil Shah
Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. That’s a seriously worrying statistic. Mental health in all ages, genders, races and cultures is one of the least spoken about, most taboo subject. The idea of being vulnerable and accepting the need for help is terribly hard for many of us. On this episode, I speak to Neil Shah, founder of the International Wellbeing Insights and Chief De-Stressing Office of the Stress Management Society. He’s a leading international expert on stress management and wellbeing, and author of a few bestselling books on the topic. And on the podcast, we talk about the five core pillars of health, from mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual, and why all five are critical. We discuss the taboo around psychedelics, current events, and what life is set to be like in the coming years. This is a candid, no holds barred conversation with Neil that I’m excited to share with you. ‘’We need more people that are aspiring to be not normal’’ - Neil Shah Timestamps: 2:30 – Post normal 10:46 – The education system 16:08 – Breaking out the cycle 22:30 – Trusting ourselves 24:28 – Behind the scenes 31:28 – 5 building blocks of well-being 34:10 – Religion and spirituality 40:10 – Your own belief system 46:51 – DMT and psychedelic substances 57:56 – Alcohol 59:54 – Men and mental health 1:05:23 – How are you? 1:06:24 – Suicide 1:09:58 – The gurus 1:13:04 – Neil’s gift 1:16:30 – Staying in shape for life 1:25:59 – How to find out about Neil Shah? Ep. 149 - Will Black Lives Matter Tomorrow? w/ Bilal Khan
Today on RNT Fitness Radio I’m joined by a special guest, Bilal Khan, who’s come back on the show after first appearing on episode 113 to talk all about some of the events happening in the world today. The big question we tackle is if black lives seem to matter today, will they matter to organisations, people and government tomorrow? As a diversity and inclusion expert, he says his job shouldn’t even exist in this world. Through the episode we talk about whether there’s a solution, what the accountability needs to be, protesting during covid, why he didn’t post a black square, and how to start tackling the deep rooted racism and stereotyping in society. Ep. 147 - Hall of Fame | How Jemie Transformed Her Mind, Body & Life Against All Odds With Cerebral Palsy w/ Jemie Mistry
Every once in a while, I come across a story that completely blows me away. It causes me to stop, think and marvel at the level of belief, fortitude and resilience required to both transform their body and life. Jemie Mistry’s story epitomises this, and she’s today’s guest on RNT Fitness Radio. Growing up and living with cerebral palsy, Jemie’s journey has not always been straight forward. But over the past two years I’ve witnessed her defy previous limiting beliefs, break through new barriers, and use the physical as the vehicle for the greater good. Having lost 25kg to reach her first checkpoint recently, Jemie’s story highlights the power of being committed, consistent and coachable. Her physical change is incredible, but as you’ll soon hear, how she’s now using it as a vehicle to do the previously unimaginable is life changing. We’ve also written up her case study where you can read more and see the pictures, and I’ve linked it in the show notes. ‘’I’m going to sign up, I’m going to be cashing in a month later because I know it’s not going to work for me, but here I am 2 years later” - Jemie Mistry Timestamps: 2:32 – How is consolidation going so far? 5:25 – Working out from home? 6:11 – Jemie’s trigger and why 10:09 – What is cerebral palsy? 11:47 – Adapting to training 17:19 – Advice for others 19:21 – What drives Jemie? 21:06 – Check in process 24:59 – Comparison syndrome 30:02 – Education process 32:23 – The photoshoot 37:51 – Family and transformation 41:10 – What’s next for Jemie? 42:21 – Advice for anyone in the journey Thanks so much for listening!
