277 Christine Hassler: How To Access Your Inner Coach

Our ego and inner coach are not the same. Our ego is always looking for control and a result but our inner coach is not. Sunlighten is the addiction you can feel good about.   How To Access Your Inner Coach: Christine Hassler What exactly is your inner coach and how can you use it to stay present, accept what is, and enjoy the journey? On Wellness Force Radio episode 277, Master Coach for Primal Health Coach Institute, Author of Expectation Hangover, and Host of the Over It & On With It Podcast, Christine Hassler, returns to discuss how the inner coach differs from the ego, the power of surrender, and why tools like diets, applications, or products are keeping you from dealing with the real issues at hand. Tune in as Christine shares the biggest life lessons she has learned so far including why you shouldn't be afraid to reach out for help, you don't have to keep struggling to learn, and you're never done doing the inner work.   Expectation Hangover Get your copy of Expectation Hangover by Christine Hassler here When our expectations are met and things go according to plan, we feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. Risking little, we feel safe, in control, and on-track. But when life throws us a curveball or does not live up to our expectations, we end up with an Expectation Hangover. This particular brand of discomfort is profoundly sobering and uncomfortable. Christine Hassler urges us to not wallow in regret, self-recrimination, or anger, and instead see these hangovers as a catalyst for profound transformation. Often life has to throw us a curveball (or several) so that we look in a different direction. When we fully treat our Expectation Hangover on the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual level, we learn courage, faith, surrender, and love, and we make room for the kind of unexpected things that lead us more directly to a life we love—rather than a life we planned.   Listen To Episode 277 As Christine Hassler Uncovers: Her experience as the Master Coach for Primal Health Coach Institute and how she's helping other health coaches dive deep into their own personal life, relationships, and mission. The pros and cons of biohacking for better wellness. Her own wellness journey and the negative effects of Prozac on her physical, mental, and emotional health. The importance of focusing on both the emotional as well as physical sides of health when healing from depression. How humanity has evolved to a place where we can now dig deeper into consciousness and emotional intelligence. The expectation hangovers we all experience and her own experiences including having the fear of losing someone. The negative impact of being in a relationship in which you feel the need to rely on another person so intensely. The importance of looking back at ourselves and relying on ourselves to fulfill a need when we expect something from another person. How the inner coach helps us to accept what is, be present, and not look for a result vs. our ego trying to be in control of everything, keep us in our comfort zone, and find a result. The benefits of dating yourself and explore what you truly want in a relationship. Why there is power in surrendering, accepting, and going with the flow instead of relying on planning, knowing, and certainty. What tools she uses to make sure she's checking in with her emotions enough and she helps people with their own. Different body cues the body will give us when we need to pay attention to something within ourselves. What vulnerability really even means and why it's been so difficult in the past for men to express it up until now. How her truth has shifted from focusing on her inner work to understanding why we're all here in our human bodies.   Power Quotes From The Show "Whenever I'm looking for control or certainty, I know that's not really my inner coach and it's more of my ego trying to keep me in my comfort zone. Whenever I'm not really looking for a result but I'm willing to be present, accept what is, and work with it, that's my inner coach. So, the ego is always looking for a result but the inner coach is not. The inner coach is looking for being with what is, accepting what is, and finding out what you can learn from it." - Christine Hassler "If I hadn't dealt with the emotional at the same time as the physical, I think I'd still be struggling with so many things in my life like depression. Yes, getting off gluten was important and going on a Paleo diet definitely helped but I don't think that would've done it completely for me nor other people. Why at 11 years old was I keeping my feelings inside? Why was I depressed? You can change your diet, do light therapy, or take supplements but it's not going to take away the emotional pain. A physical change will help you feel a little better but if you really want to be optimized as a human being, you have to hit all of the levels." - Christine Hassler "In relationships, people can meet each others' needs but it's not everything. If we're outsourcing our needs or our happiness to anything outside of us, then we really don't have that access point to our full potential. We really have to be there for ourselves and make sure that our own needs are met as well." - Christine Hassler   Links From Today's Show Sunlighten Saunas Slenderella Paleo f(x) AMP #176 - The Wild Woman and The Wild Man with Christine Hassler | Aubrey Marcus Podcast Primal Health Coach Institute Slenderella Shawn Stevenson David Deida WFR 260 Stefanos Sifandos WFR 250 Dave Asprey WFR 206 Dan Pardi WFR 201 Micheal Gervais WFR 258 Boysen Hodgson WFR 132 Christine Hassler The Expectation Hangover by Christine Hassler Over It & On With It Podcast Christine Hassler Facebook Twitter Instagram Youtube   About Christine Hassler Christine Hassler is a former Hollywood agent and achievement addict turned best-selling author, speaker, and consultant known for helping companies and brands understand and connect with Gen Y. Discovering Our Human Nature: Erick Godsey How can journaling, meditation, and breathwork help you discover the unconscious characters that lie within? On Wellness Force Radio episode 276, Onnit Content Manager and Podcast Host of The Myths That Make Us, Erick Godsey, shares how he keeps in check with his ego, social media's impact on the conscious mind, as well as his personal insight and thoughts on monogamous vs. polygamous relationships. Discover why life transformations within yourself and others can only happen when you truly come from a place of radical authenticity. The Myths That Make Us Podcast Click here to listen to The Myths That Make Us Podcast I believe we each have an unconscious story about who we are and what kind of world we're in. This story, our myth, influences our goals, desires, mindset, and happiness. On this podcast, I'm going to help people identify the myths that make them. "When you are honest and vulnerable with people, it'll work out beautifully." - Erick Godsey Listen To Episode 276 As Erick Godsey Uncovers: How the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, Carl Jung, impacted his life and spirituality. Social media's impact on society including our understanding the self and becoming aware of our consciousness. His favorite tools for handling moments of stress including journaling. Why meditation and being still are challenging for people in Western cultures but journaling can help them get there. Why life transformations can only truly happen when we're radically honest with ourselves. The lack of a fatherly presence he felt in his life and how he tried to find a spiritual father in books, psychedelics, and philosophy. How psychedelics negatively impacted his mind because he wasn't truly ready for them and how journaling helped him put his mind back together. The idea that we choose our parents, life, and programming when we come to this life. How being unconsciously invited to act as his mother's psychologist impacted his mind, their relationship, what he's doing for humanity today, and why he's grateful for that. The fact that we're all just doing the best we can and no one has it all together even if it appears that way on social media. His relationship with his ego and how he keeps it in check by being present with it. The experiences and unique challenges he's facing in a new romantic relationship and what he wants from himself in it. His current stance on masculine, feminine, intimacy, and relationships. Monogamy vs polygamy relationships and why people choose to be in one type over the other. How we can create from a place of truth and love to not fall to the demise of ego, popularity, and social misappropriation. What he does to help him stay radically authentic to himself and for his social media audience. How he metaphorically related his unconscious character, dreams, and past relationships with women to the story of Samson and Delilah. Why he's radically honest with women about himself, his past wounds, and his wants in a relationship on the first date. Power Quotes From The Show "What tools can we use to uncover the unconscious characters inside of us that have been whispering behind the thrones of consciousness that gets us into these patterns in our lives and how can we re-program that?" - Erick Godsey "One set of people will find the divine through deep work and another set will find it through relationships. People who find the divine in the deep work seem to be able to go deep in a monogamous relationship and it makes them feel safe. In comparison, the people who find the divine in relationships might find polygamous connections a truly an interesting way to live in those bliss moments." - Erick Godsey "I know I'm going to die and I know that everything I do will eventually be forgotten at some point in time so what should I do? It's better to redirect your program towards the highest value than to try to invest all of your energy to uninstall all of the programmings you've already received. All of us can take the set programming from the first seven years of our lives and redirect it towards the highest possible good that the programming could be. We chose our parents and we chose this programming so it's much more effective to redirect it as opposed to try spending 40 years completely undoing it." - Erick Godsey "At least once a week during a work day I have to stop what I'm doing, leave my desk, grab my journal, and ask myself, "Why am I alive? What am I doing?" It might appear that I have everything in life together but there are times when I become so overwhelmed and I have to stop and reconnect to why I believe I'm alive." - Erick Godsey Links From Today's Show Sunlighten Saunas Paleo f(x) Onnit Dr. Rhonda Patrick Joe Rogan #66 Josh Trent | Human Optimization Hour w/ Kyle Kingsbury Carl Jung Why I Write The Morning Pages The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron Duncan Trussell Friedrich Nietzsche Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette Enlifted Tim Ferriss WFR 196 Aubrey Marcus WFR 132 Christine Hassler WFR 191 Mary Shores The Myths That Make Us Podcast Erick Godsey Instagram Twitter YouTube    Join The #WellnessWarrior VIP Club **Click on the photo above to get exclusive discounts on new wellness tools, be first in line for new podcasts, get access to invite-only events, and so much more.**   More Top Episodes 226 Paul Chek: The Revolution Is Coming (3 Part Series) 131 Drew Manning: Emotional Fitness 129 Gretchen Rubin: The Four Tendencies  183 Dr. Kyra Bobinet: Brain Science 196 Aubrey Marcus: Own The Day 103 Robb Wolf: Wired To Eat Best of The Best: The Top 10 Guests From over 200 Shows Get More Wellness In Your Life Join the #WellnessWarrior Community on Facebook Tweet us on Twitter: Send us a tweet Comment on the Facebook page

275 Paul Chek: The Revolution Is Here

Conflict is an important part of human relationship. If you don't have conflict, can you ever really get to know somebody? If we don't discuss issues that highlight where there's polarization, then we never really have an option to learn how to transform our communities. - Paul Chek  Are you ready for the revolution of greater love, emotional intelligence, and wellness in our world?   ---> Join the Wellness Warrior VIP Club: get exclusive discounts on new wellness tools, be first in line for new podcasts, get access to invite-only events, and so much more.** ---> Get The Morning 21: A powerful (and free) system designed to give you more energy, let go of old weight, and live life well. Learn About: Breathing Mobilization Stretching Stabilization Working In Working Out Program Design Factors The techniques you learn in this series will quickly become an important part of how you use movement, and if you work with clients, they’ll be invaluable to them as well!   "No matter how scary or ugly it is, the mind is an expression of the divine. The place of emergence of life itself can't know itself unless it explores all of its own potentials." - Pau Chek Listen To Episode 275 As Paul Chek Uncovers: Why conflict is such an important part of human relationships to get to know people, start important conversations, and for spiritual growth to happen. Why a spiritual growth process helps lead us to death of the ego and expansion of self. His plant medicine ceremony experiences including envisioning a story of the past life of his son. The midlife crisis he faced and how plant medicine allowed him to heal the pain. How plant medicine, symbols, and strong sensations played a role in him and Angie taking the step forward together to becoming parents to their son, Mana. The various teachings he has gathered from various spiritual practices including spirit medicine, meditation, monks, martial arts and Christianity. His ability to be clairvoyant and a remote viewer with the ability to take his consciousness out of the body and go anywhere in the known world. His experience with psychedelics and how they can be beneficial for those who truly need them and are ready for them. The importance of properly diagnosing people for the right amount of psychedelics. The system he developed to properly prepare, process, and post-integrate people with plant medicine. The dangers of poorly run plant medicine ceremonies and why plant medicine is not for everyone. The strong truths that people may come to face in a plant medicine ceremony and why they might not be able to distinguish them between thoughts and reality if they're ill-prepared. The differences between the group soul, biological soul, intellectual soul, and awareness soul. The impact that the myth of consumerism has caused on our culture, relationships, and how we connect with one another. How repressing the human mind and our creative ability has led to trauma for years. What consciousness truly is in our world compared to how we used to see it. Why plant medicine ceremonies don't only explore personal traumas, challenges, joys, and highs but also the collective unconscious of everything that has ever been on this planet. The fact that the plant medicines do not give you the visions you see but they amplify what's already inside of you. The 4 Doctors you'll only ever need: Dr. Diet, Dr. Quiet, Dr. Happiness and Dr. Movement. The dangers of doing too many plant medicine ceremonies to that point that you don't know what's real anymore. Power Quotes From The Show 'Plant medicines don't fix you; they illuminate where the healing is and show you what the possibilities are." - Paul Chek "Anytime you engage in a spiritual growth process, it's death to the ego because the more you grow spiritually, the more porous the ego becomes to your wants, feelings, and needs of other people and then your concept of self greatly expands. However, the ego will still inherently try to control and create the illusion of safety and convince itself that it knows what the outcome is going to be for us. That's when the process of spiritual growth and development will help us relax inner conflict and our need to control what happens in life." - Paul Chek    "You have to have spiritual courage to really grow spiritually because if you really want to take guidance from your soul, you have to be ready to realize that many of the things you're asking guidance on, your ego already has some kind of an addiction and your soul might trick you because you find your soul has a much broader sense of right and wrong than your ego could ever conceive of." - Paul Chek  "Until a person actually knows how to access their soul, they can't tell the difference between their soul and their mind. The soul is not as simple as people think it is. The soul has many levels and the mind is actually inherently part of it." - Paul Chek "A medicine plant is a seed but you have to fertilize, water, trim, and protect it every day to have an actual spiritual experience. Plant medicines don't fix you; they illuminate where the healing is and show you what the possibilities are but you have to become that person every single day to the degree that you have the spiritual strength or courage to depart from the old you to become the new you." - Paul Chek   Links From Today's Show Paleo f(x) The C.H.E.K. Listen and discover how Mike is helping athletes, coaches, and everyday women and men develop a holistic mindset for life both in and out of athletic competitions. Mastering The Kettlebell Click here to learn more about Mike Salemi's Mastering The Kettlebell Program While this program is incredible in its depth, it only involves (and takes) one kettlebell to perform and covers the foundational lifts. I truly believe that with mastery of what I teach in the program, you will be set up to take kettlebells as far as you’d like to go- advanced movements, double kettlebell lifts, kettlebell “flows”, even entering a competition. Above all, gain rare insight into my overall thought process. This way you can assess different training scenarios and use critical thinking skills to come up with an optimal solution. To do this it truly does take a comprehensive system - and system being a keyword. It took me 12 months of work to outline organize and complete this training. My life’s work - all the struggles and successes- are reflected in it. So you and your clients can be set up for success.   "All great things are not achieved by just one person. There's always a community of people who have to come together to make the impossible happen." - Mike Salemi Listen To Episode 274 As Mike Salemi Uncovers: How he was able to help his build his family's business back up after the 2008 recession and the emotional roller coaster that experience brought him. His personal experience working a job that he did not love and how that impacted his wellbeing. What brought him to the Holistic Lifestyle Coach Program at the C.H.E.K. Institute. Why he felt called towards weight lifting and what it has taught him about emotional intelligence. What doing the inner work taught him about the similarities he shares with his father and the qualities he received from observing him. What it was like to work one and one with Paul Chek for both the physical and spiritual work. Why it took him two years until Paul Chek thought Mike was truly ready for his first plant medicine experience and what lessons he took away from it. His interest in becoming a Kambo medicine Practitioner someday in the future. What an ELDOA stretch is and the many benefits of adding it to your wellness routine. The lessons plant medicine is teaching him including being more aware of patterns and cycles of the males in his family. Whether or not we should have more plant medicine facilities throughout the world.  How to decide whether or not a piece of technology will actually help you accomplish your health goals or not.  Power Quotes From The Show "If the physical goal rises in a holistic system, so does the emotional and the spiritual. All of these goals have to rise in order to accomplish them in an integrated matter. The more I test myself or put myself in an uncomfortable situation, the more I'm going to be a better coach, friend, and able to have empathy for my clients." - Mike Salemi "Sometimes our greatest gifts are our weaknesses. Having discipline and being hard on ourselves can lead us to achievement but on the other hand, we should be a little bit more gentle with ourselves." - Mike Salemi "I'm truly here to share, support, and inspire both athletes and coaches to not only realize their truest potential in sport but also when they leave their sport so that they have some type of healthy living philosophy moving forward."  - Mike Salemi   Links From Today's Show The C.H.E.K. The care Josh and his family are now giving his mother after finding out that taking lithium for her health has actually led to her late-stage kidney disease.   Power Quotes From The Show "You are the CEO of your health and all change starts with people speaking up. Slowly but surely that becomes a movement against the current healthcare industry" - Adrienne Nolan Smith "All of us deep down know when we don't feel whole and we don't feel like we're really on the right track to living our best life or preventing and reversing from chronic illness when it might arise. It's important to do the work to arrive at a place where you feel whole and are able to experience everything that life has to offer from joy and movement to relationships and self-love." - Adrienne Nolan-Smith "You are the CEO of your health and all change starts with people speaking up. Slowly but surely that becomes a movement against the current healthcare industry and we truly have no choice because if you look at the rate of this chronic disease epidemic, it's just skyrocketing and there are no signs of it slowing down." - Adrienne Nolan-Smith "The conventional healthcare system loves scores, charts, and tests. So, I'm sure they could come up with some way to create a quiz or a test to score emotional intelligence if they haven't done so already. You can use those results to help any practitioner, doctor, or insurance company to understand the baggage that people with illnesses are holding onto as well as the fact that they're not self-aware or very emotionally intelligent to be able to work through what they're going through." - Adrienne Nolan-Smith "It's absolutely worth investing money into helping people quantify their emotional intelligence, understand their thoughts and feelings, and unpack what's inside. Sure it may take time to see trends and quantified results but I believe that anyone who invests in holistic health will see the impact of certain activities that either worsen or improve one's health." - Adrienne Nolan-Smith   Links From Today's Show Dr. Kelly Brogan The National Institutes of Health (NIH) PubMed The NIH Human Microbiome Project Dr. Laura Belus The HEAL documentary by Kelly Noonan Gores Kelly Turner Former surgeon general sounds the alarm on the loneliness epidemic Michael Pollan Johns Hopkins Psychedelic Research Unit 9 Key Factors Affecting Radical Remission From Cancer The "Loneliness Epidemic" Patient advocacy Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) Research WFR 236 Dr. Michael Ruscio WFR 129 Gretchen Rubin WFR 192 Jason Prall WFR 199 Peter Crone WFR 226 Paul Chek The WellBe Podcast How WellBe Are You? When she was 11, Adrienne was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Her conventional doctor prescribed antibiotics, but they didn’t work and her mother was then told there were no other options. Two years and multiple integrative therapies later, Adrienne was Lyme-free. Over the years, other health issues came up and each time it became clear that conventional doctors had tools to treat her symptoms, but they never got to the root of the problems, nor did they really try to cure them. In 2010, Adrienne lost her mother to suicide while she was on antipsychotic and antidepressant medications to treat schizoaffective disorder. At that point, Adrienne knew she needed to completely switch careers and began working for a healthcare technology company, hoping to fix the system from the inside. After several years working with hospitals, she realized that, until wellness is the standard of care, the current chronic disease crisis would only continue to rise. She also realized that until people demand wellness from their doctors, their brands, their employers, their governments and ultimately, from themselves, nothing will change. Adrienne founded WellBe to facilitate this change by helping you get and stay well, and demanding a system that supports you in this endeavor. Adrienne received her BA from Johns Hopkins University, her MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and is a board-certified patient advocate (BCPA). She lives in New York City, where she was born and raised. Adrienne gets WellBe with acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and eating (mostly!) clean, real food.   Join The #WellnessWarrior VIP Club **Click on the photo above to get exclusive discounts on new wellness tools, be first in line for new podcasts, get access to invite-only events, and so much more.**   More Top Episodes 226 Paul Chek: The Revolution Is Coming (3 Part Series) 131 Drew Manning: Emotional Fitness 129 Gretchen Rubin: The Four Tendencies  183 Dr.

Discover how you can reconnect with your inner source by disconnecting from the outside world and remember who you are at your core Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill Buy Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill by Udo Erasmus here Healing fats are among the necessary nutrients needed to prevent and reverse degenerative disease, heart disease, cancer, and Type 2 diabetes. They can also help reverse arthritis, obesity, PMS, allergies, asthma, fatigue, skin conditions, and yeast and fungal infections. At the same time, more health problems come from damaged oils than any other part of nutrition. Udo Erasmus exposes the manufacturing processes that turn healing fats into killing fats, explains the effects of these damaged fats on human health, and discloses the knowledge you need to avoid the damaged ones and choose health-promoting oils. He also explores the therapeutic potential of flax, hemp, olive, fish, evening primrose, borage, and black currant.   "Peace is the deepest state of being and out of that comes love. On that level, love is the superlative state of being because love is all about giving." - Udo Erasmus Listen To Episode 272 As Udo Erasmus Uncovers: Why he chose to take a job spraying pesticides and how that came back to haunt him by poisoning him. The revelation he had on his wellness journey that health is our own responsibility. The incredible amount of damage that happens to oils when they are processed which then leads to poisoning the human body. How he naturally cured his body of the pesticides' poisons by fasting, moving, taking supplements, and paying attention to his nutrition. His North Star for staying true to himself and being present in real-life relationships. The message of his brand to help people find health from within and be content with their lives. The revelation his sister had about how people feel about death while visiting a hospice center. Why feelings of heartache, sorrow, and sadness are a reminder of the disconnection we have with ourselves. Why heartache is actually a gift, a reminder of being alive, and the starting part of feeling real joy. How we can embrace and love our fear, sadness, and anxiety in the same way that we love the people closet to us. How his mission shifted to focusing more on wellbeing than just oils after 9/11. The 8 steps designed by nature to lead you to wholeness. The importance of simply being honest if you don't know something instead of lying and saying or acting like you do know the answer. The biggest struggle for him in growing the Udo's Oil brand and his plans for the future. Why omega 3 and omega 6 oils are so essential for the human body and what happens when the body doesn't receive enough of them.  The most common myths and misconceptions out there about natural oils. Why mistreating oils and using them to fry our foods is the worst thing we could ever possibly be doing to them. How you can heal the damage done by unhealthy products and foods. The benefits of sweating via saunas and exercising to detoxify the body for better health. Power Quotes From The Show "When you're fully present in the space that you occupy and you're not lost in your thoughts, it feels so good to be alive." - Udo Erasmus "While we're here on this planet, knowing that it's temporary, why don't we push to thrive rather than just try escaping from the pain by chasing carrots? We were made to thrive." - Udo Erasmus "Peace is the deepest state of being and out of that comes love. On that level, love is the superlative state of being because love is all about giving. Giving doesn't happen until we feel full or more than full with love. When that feeling happens, there's nothing else to do but to give and help others." - Udo Erasmus  "Oils are the most sensitive of all of our nutrients so they should receive the most care including protection from light, oxygen, and heat. Unfortunately, we're mostly giving them the least amount of care. We're just throwing them into a frying pan and turning them into smoke. When we burn the oils, they burn us. When we fry the oils, they fry our health. They're vindictive and treat us like we treat them." - Udo Erasmus "How can food not be medicine? Your entire body is made out of light, oxygen, water, and nutrients. Nothing else. According to nature, drugs are not part of making human body's that already work. No one has ever had a drug deficiency. We throw drugs at problems to suppress symptoms but that is not fixing the cause. We can fix the cause by coming back aligned with nature. He was born in Poland during the Second World War to parents from Latvia and Estonia. His family emigrated to Canada when he was ten years old. He began his university studies at the age of sixteen and gained a B.Sc. in Zoology with a major in Psychology. This was followed by graduate studies in Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of British Columbia. In 1980, Erasmus was poisoned by pesticides, and, as a result of the experience, began to research the relationship between nutrition and health. He gave special attention to the effects of fats and oils on human health. Erasmus had become intrigued by the fact that Eskimos consumed largely fats, such as whale blubber, yet remained relatively healthy well into later life. In his research he discovered what he considered "healthy fats", that is fats which were beneficial rather than harmful to health. His thesis for his Ph.D. in nutrition was published with the title Fats and Oils in 1986. It was revised and expanded under the new name, Fats That Heal Fats That Kill (1993). Udo Erasmus has partnered with natural foods company Flora Inc., of Lynden, Washington, and Burnaby, British Columbia to produce the essential fatty acid blend called Udo's Choice Oil Blend as well as a line of probiotics and nutritional supplements.

How women have been pre-conditioned to not articulate their wants and needs to other people. The beliefs, assumptions, and filters that hold women back from feeling free to express themselves. How, without realizing it, centuries of socialization has programmed our expectations for human behavior. Words and phrases that have boxed women such as 'rational,' 'emotional,' or 'abrasive.' How labels, filters, and assumptions can actually be beneficial as we navigate the world but can also become distorted and then create real problems in society. What unconscious bias training is and its goal to help people become aware of their biases and make changes. The art of nothing to slow down, pause, and reconnect with yourself. What tools we can use to grow our emotional intelligence muscles. The importance of looking for a partner who will listen to you, consider what you need, and create a dialogue when conflict comes up. Susan Cain's explanation about the differences between introverts and extroverts plus what an ambivert is. Why human social connection and acceptance is so vital for own survival. Steps you can take to be yourself in front of anyone without feeling anxious. Why people are not being their authentic selves online and how that's affecting our interactions and relationships. The control of social media and how it affects our mental health including the rise of depression for young women. How social media and society is programming this idea that we have to be loved in order to be enough. Why we feel that being liked at work is more important for professional success than the ability, knowledge, and experience that we have to do a job. The extreme standards that we're all trying to live up to when being average is absolutely okay. Why you shouldn't let circumstances dictate your life but rather influence your path. The biggest challenges she faces as a therapist and how she has personally evolved in her profession. Power Quotes From The Show "If you don't speak your truth because you're afraid of being heard, then that will guarantee it'll never be heard." - Dr. Alessandra Wall "Women oftentimes know what's making them mad but they don't feel like they can say it because it wouldn't be 'nice,' it would result in conflict or something else. We don't think we're going to be heard so we don't put it out there but that then guarantees that we will never be heard if we never put it out into the world. If we at least put it out there then maybe we'll find out that either we're not communicating clearly, the person doesn't understand what we're saying, or the person doesn't care about what we want or need in which case we have this great piece of information that will help us decide what we want to do with this relationship." - Dr. Alessandra Wall "If there is a friend, family member, or partner who doesn't consistently care what you need or want, the answer is to walk away from that relationship because otherwise, you're always going to be resentful and unhappy with that person." - Dr. Alessandra Wall "Speaking up truly is that simple. All it takes is being in that space where you are okay with who you are so that you can put it out into the world and not be constantly walking in this space of being worried that if you admit that you have two versions of Vanilla Ice's, 'Ice, Ice Baby,' on your iTunes playlist that other people will judge you for it." - Dr. Alessandra Wall "Our lives aren't determined so much by our circumstances so much as they're determined by the choices that we make. If you don't like the way your life is going, you have to do something different and speaking up is just one way to make that happen." - Dr. Alessandra Wall "If you don't speak up, say what you mean, and mean what you say, then you're being the most dishonest, shallow, and untrue version of yourself. The kindest thing you can do with someone is to be honest with them about what you think, feel, how they make you feel, and what you need from them. That will create the strongest relationships." - Dr. Alessandra Wall Links From Today's Show Dr. Alessandra Wall LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube Pinterest Life In Focus Podcast Back To Me by Dr. Alessandra Wall Speak Up with Dr. Alessandra Wall Bridge The Gap with Dr. Alessandra Wall In Her Shoes Be More Confident: What Confidence Is And Is Not, And How To Build It Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology and the Business of Keeping Us Hooked by Adam Alter Myers–Briggs Type Indicator Eckhart Tolle WFR 103 Robb Wolf WFR 183 Dr. Kyra Bobinet WFR 206 Dan Pardi About Dr. Alessandra Wall Dr. Alessandra Wall is a clinical psychologist, a coach, and an international speaker. Why conflict is healthy in a relationship, love is hard, and relationships take work. Why people hide behind their ego through spiritual materialism by going to church or yoga class and owning items like crystals. Why activism is still a form of violence because it's segregating and dividing. The health issues she faced as a child with a poor immune system and how taking antibiotics and the steroid, prednisone, had a further negative effect on her wellness. The social pressures she faced as a teenager to be perfect while battling constant illness. How her own experiences with bullying and sexual assault as a teenager led her to help other girls her age in an organization she began with local schools counselors called Teens Against Dating Violence. How being a victim led her to make herself more masculine through bodybuilding, being tougher, and emasculating men which then led to a lot of hurt in her relationships with them. The difficult divorce she experienced and how that led her feeling like a victim once again. The visceral coding that the mind goes through when we've experienced trauma. [spacer height="20px" id="2"] Power Quotes From The Show "The Hero's Journey isn't about sacrifice, it's about uncovering your truth. You have to decondition your truth, break it open, and put yourself back together again." - Sara Gustafson "Embodying, exploring, and sitting with our feelings without any distractions is the hardest part of inner work because it is not comfortable. We're talking no drugs, alcohol, or excessive activities. If anything is going to make you grow, it's that because of how our modern culture has been built. Everything you can think of that will numb the cry of our bodies exists in substances like pills, environments like bars, or distractions like spending long amounts of time doing an activity from working out to shopping to learning." - Sara Gustafson "For greater wellness, you have to focus on fusing all of your primal needs together. Without even one, none of them will work. If you don't have your diet in place, exercise will fall apart. If you don't rest or recover, nothing else will be in place. If you're not happy, then forget being able to do anything else. If you're not focusing on yourself and taking responsibility for that, then why invest in anything else? All of your primal needs need to fuse perfectly and be in balance." - Sara Gustafson "Happiness is what's missing from most people's primal fusion. They don't prioritize, understand, or believe the value of happiness. When we try to program happiness into a client's life, it can take them up to a year sometimes to begin to start practicing it because they don't understand its value. You have the power and you can create anything that you want to happen. The 5x2 Method Click here to get your copy of The 5x2 Method Did you know you use at least one of your five senses every moment of the day, even when you are asleep? Each sense has its own special power, but it is when they are used in combination that we create those unforgettable experiences. We all have a set of daily habits that tend to dull our senses and encourage us to lead a pretty basic life of existence. We often find ourselves in the vicious cycle of wake up, repeat and go to sleep. Chirs DiVecchio developed the 5x2 method to help wake those senses back up and create a whole new way of thinking, acting, being and doing so that you can start living the life of happiness you deserve! As we know, the five senses are controlled by five organs: Touch - Touch has a memory Sound - Music to your ears Taste - Taste the rainbow Sight - The windows to the soul Smell - Stop and smell the roses In this book, Chris breaks each sense down in detail to help you understand a bit more how they can be used to shift you into a more positive state of being.   "Having control over how I look, feel, and take care of myself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually costs me nothing. Power Quotes From The Show "If you feel good emotionally, then 9 times out of 10, your body is going to match that." - Chris DiVecchio "The growing fitness trend of using performance-enhancing supplements has its place but the healing process is really what people are focusing on now. Our main concern today is caring about how we feel rather than how we look. That's where the world of fitness and wellness is going. We're now realizing that if you feel good, then 9/10 times your body is going to match that vibration." - Chris DiVecchio "I had to put in an insane amount of trust that I was doing the right thing and I was in the right space. For me to freak out, panic, or to buy into any type of negative thought pattern I have right now, it's just not going to serve me. If I have control over how I look, feel, and take care of myself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, then I have to do that at least. That costs me nothing; I don't have to pay a cent to register, process, and choose my thoughts and feelings." - Chris DiVecchio "Taking inventory is important in order to look back and reflect on your lifestyle situations, habits, or traumas. Being able to learn from past experiences and dissect some of the emotional turmoil that you've been through without allowing yourself to get stuck in it is a skill. A lot of people don't get as deep in their past to clear house is because they're afraid of what they might see along that journey." - Chris DiVecchio "Forget about discipline; discipline doesn't mean anything. What we actually need to do right now is care. The people who are at the top of their game in optimal health and wellness are those who care enough about themselves and care enough about their bodies to focus on what contributes to a healthy looking vessel." - Chris DiVecchio   Links From Today's Show Chris DiVecchio Facebook Instagram Twitter Premier Mind & Body Facebook Twitter The 5x2 Method Emergency7 Man loses 70 pounds after his poker buddies bet him $1M that he couldn't TED Talk with Joshua Klein: A thought experiment on the intelligence of crows In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts with Dr. Gabor Mate The 5 Love Languages The Giving Keys Shawn Stevenson WFR 058 Rob Dionne WFR 242 Aaron Hinde About Chris DiVecchio Chris DiVecchio, Founder & Trainer, brings a wealth of self-development transformation mixed with a very practical technique to his fitness training.
