559 Premium: Play Better Golf Using Your Imagination with Dr. Glen Albaugh
559 Premium: In his return to Golf Smarter, Dr. Glen Albaugh, author of “Winning The Battle Within” talks about “playing with your imagination” and “playing with your athletic mind”. In addition to being a professor at University of the Pacific, Glen has been a mental coach and advisor for some of the great coaches including Bill Walsh and Pete Carroll as well as many PGA and LPGA Tour Players. In this return conversation, we talk about how your can be your own “Coach of the Future” using your creative mind, taking practice swings with your eyes closed, post-shot awareness, and how we can be positively influenced by great writers (“When we play our best we see things in paragraphs, not sentences”), and the passing of The Legend, Arnold Palmer.Watch the complete conversation at GolfSmarter.com or our YouTube.com/GolfSmarterTV channel. https://youtu.be/i4d8hdrAjTgThis episode is brought to you by GolfOvernight.com. 558 Premium: Meet The 19 Handicapper That Played In A Country’s Open…And Lived To Tell Us About It!
558 Premium: In 2014 Justin Kreibich, who, in his mid 20’s and a bogie golfer with a 19hcp, signed up to play in the DPKR (yes, that’s North Korea) Amateur Golf Open. Knowing the risks involved and how good of a golfer he wasn’t, he knew that this may be the only opportunity to play in an Open Championship. So he signed up, was granted a spot, flew to China, then boarded a flight to Pyongyang City without the knowledge or permission of the US Government. There were only 20 players in the field and it was a single round. On the 18th tee he was in second place, but the realization of the consequences got in his head. This is an outrageous and crazy story that could easily be a movie "based on a true story”. He’s never shared this story with anyone outside of his friends and family…until now. 557 Premium: If Custom Fit Clubs Cost Are The Same Price, What’s Holding You Back? Featuring Frank V
557 Premium: We continue the discussion of getting custom fit for your golf clubs to improve your consistency and your game. This time we head to Boston to speak with the US Vice President of the International Club Makers Guild, Frank Viola. This time we discuss the various components of the club and how important it is to not concern yourself with popular brand names, but to focus on getting the right parts that work best for you. We also talk about pricing variations of custom club making vs off the shelf clubs. Our host, Fred Greene, doesn't understand what all the numbers mean in a computer print out from a launch monitor after comparing five shots each with a blade 6 iron vs a cavity back 6 iron created by the same manufacturer. Frank explains the significance of each number and teaches Fred on which are the most important results in selecting the right club.Want to watch the full interview and see some of her work? 556 Premium: Thinking About New Clubs? Don’t Buy Anything Until You Hear About Custom Club Fitting w
556: Getting fitted for golf clubs. You may hear a lot about the advantages, but most of us ignore it, especially if we have a friend who is raving about his club and we take a successful swing with it. Our guest this week is the President of the International Clubmakers Guild, Jacques Intriere, who also has a very successful club fitting and club making studio. The surprise is that custom club makers like Jacques don't necessarily want to provide you with brands you're not familiar with, they take the components from the most popular manufacturers and build the club that is exactly right for your game, whether your a beginner or scratch golfer. We also break down a lot of technical terms that are familiar in the industry but may not mean anything to the average golf consumer.http://ClubFittersGuild.orgWant to watch the full interview and see some of her work? 552 Premium: Bobby Clampett on the Impact Zone
552: Bobby Clampett was the Low Amateur at the 1979 US Open and the 1980 Masters. He played on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour in addition to being a network golf announcer/commentator. After playing with over 1,000 amateurs at more than 220 Pro-Ams he noticed something about their divots that separates high handicappers from Tour players. “...the Touring pros had a swing bottom approximately 4 inches in front of the center of the golf ball. For every inch amateurs were behind that 4 inches, equated to, on average, 4 strokes per inch!" In this week’s episode Bobby talks with host Fred Greene about his history, greatest influences, the Golfing Machine, and his effective method of instruction called The Impact Zone. Bobby is going to be giving a “Golfing In The Zone Clinic” at Michael Murphy’s Golf In The Kingdom Marathon charity event on September 11-12, 2016 at Peacock Gap in San Rafael, CA.
