This is a sermon I delivered on Mark 6 and 8). Jesus feeds the multitudes twice. Why did He do it twice? And why did He initially tell His disciples "you give them something to eat?" Did He really expect them to feed 5,000? And why did they pick up 12 and 7 baskets of leftovers? Are the numbers significant? The passages are full of interesting questions that lead to a dynamic conclusion. This is a sermon I delivered on a series in the book of Acts. I address Acts 10-11 and Peter's hesitation to eat with Gentiles and the Jerusalem Church's anger with him for doing so. Then I address all the radical changes the early Christians faced with the new movement: they can eat with Gentiles; they can eat forbidden food; no more passover celebrations; Church is on Sunday; etc. Change is what it means to become a Christian (repentance means "to change one's mind") and what it means to be a Christian (we should be constantly changing into the likeness of Christ).
