Networking Into Your Next Opportunity - Dan Bigger

In this week’s The Faces of Business Episode, our guest speaker was Dan Bigger. Dan is the Senior Manager of Sales Business Development at Optessa and the Co-Host of USAMfgHour Twitter Chat.  Dan has held senior business development and sales roles in manufacturing companies for over a decade.   Dan shares his experience suddenly losing his job and his decision to immediately start looking for his next opportunity by using the wide business network he created over the years to find his opportunity.  Dan did not want to use the traditional route of finding and applying for jobs.  It would take too long and he was searching for the RIGHT opportunity.    Dan leveraged his nexto to meet with people to talk about opportunities and help others find opportunities.  In 3 weeks utilizing his network, Dan completed many calls with hiring managers, had multiple interviews, turned down opportunities, and ultimately secured his new position at Optessa.   Dan shares the way anyone can leverage the people they know, instead of the normal applying to jobs, to find the right opportunity faster! Cris Young is the owner of Product Genius Technology. Before this, she founded an ran the Fastener New Desk for almost 12 years. First as an Editor at Large and then as EVP. Currently, she is also the Board Member of the US Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She has been the President of The American Small Business Chamber of Commerce. In between these roles, Cris was also the Co-Chair of Women in Manufacturing. Moreover, she was also the EVP at Hudson Fasteners.   Among her initial roles, she was the Assistant Manager at Mass Hardware and Sales associate at Allied Bolt and Screw as her first job.
