60: Reconnecting With Your Inner Wise Woman with Haulwen Nicholas - Success Stories
There’s no denying the powerful truth that we all have an intuitive, creative and incredibly capable “wise woman” within us. But in today’s fast-paced world, it’s so easy to lose touch with our true inner self and purpose. In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I chat to the amazing Haulwen Nicholas, as she takes me through her journey of discovery and how she built and now runs two different businesses. Haulwen is the founder of the Magical Mojo Coach, where she helps women to reconnect with their inner wise woman and find the magic and wonder in the world. Her second business is called The Packaging Oracle, where she helps big businesses and entrepreneurs make decisions about their packaging. Haulwen is a member of our Members’ Club and she says that when she first joined, she found the inspiration she needed to launch her own business after burning out in the corporate world. Her favourite part of being a member has been the community, where she’s made some great friends who she meets regularly. Haulwen says the Members’ Club has been an essential tool for her as being an entrepreneur can be such a lonely experience. The Members’ Club is that safe space where she can talk about her business with others who are on the same journey. In this podcast, Haulwen and I discuss: Her career in the packaging industry after studying Environmental Biology at University and how she saw this path as the perfect opportunity to help shape the industry to be more environmentally-friendly. How burnout, dealing with several medical conditions, chronic pain and a highly stressful job left her desperate to escape her lifestyle. How managing teams throughout her career helped her discover her love for coaching and training. How training to become a coach also ended up becoming a journey of self-discovery for her. The journey to launching her business and how she manages the struggle of running two businesses at the same time. Why she made self-care her priority and how it helped her business blossom. How reconnecting with her true self and her purpose helped her find her energy, good health and spirit again. Why reconnecting with your inner wise woman is so essential to long-term wellbeing and success. Haulwen’s top tips for success are: Stay curious and recognise that the majority of things that make us who we are are free. We don’t need material possessions, it’s just about reconnecting with the world and people around us and loving ourselves more, which so many of us don’t do. When we start reconnecting with that inner voice, we suddenly start to realise what we truly love about our lives and the people around us. Make self-care your number one priority! You need to make sure you’re energised to be your best for yourself, your family and to help your business thrive! 59: Working Full-Time And Building A Business On The Side with Caz Wilson - Success Stories
In this podcast, Caz and I discuss: How she comes from an entrepreneurial family and learned an entrepreneurial attitude at a young age from her mum. How she moved to the US and got an office job in Las Vegas working in corporate marketing but soon realised that it wasn’t as fun as she anticipated it to be and how she realised she wasn’t suited for the corporate world and she felt stifled. How Tim Ferriss’ book, The 4 Hour Work Week, opened her eyes to this different way of looking at work + discovered FEA in 2017 and decided to join FEA instead of continuing to focus on her corporate career. First thing she did: she looked into her company’s policy on starting a “side hustle”, thought about the lifestyle she wanted, wanted flexibility, fit the lifestyle. Honed in on her marketing skill and how badly she wanted to leave. Identified why she really wanted to quit and what she needed to do to make it happen. Biggest ways FEA has helped her: seeing the community and how other women did it inspired her. The monthly calls and visualisation. How she managed her schedule building a business around her busy 9-5 and family commitments. How she visualised the feeling she would feel and the music she would play driving away from her office for the last time. How she feels looking back and having come so far and overcoming the challenges of juggling both her job and her business. How she started finding most of her clients from the FEA Members’ Club. Caz’s top tips for success are: You can learn any strategy, but mindset is the thing that will make or break you! Go out and make sure that your business is what your audience wants and don’t wait until you have a business to start building your audience. You can start a Facebook page today! If you’re networking in Facebook Groups and putting yourself out there, people will look for you online! Share what you’re doing, build your audience and don’t give up! 58: Learning to Celebrate Your Victories
Do you ever wish that as an entrepreneur, you would get to go up on a podium, get cheered and applauded and given a medal every time you had a win in your business? Because it’s never an easy journey and every single challenge you overcome and every single win is worth acknowledging and celebrating! In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I’m joined by the amazing Laura Robinson, founder of Worditude, who went from corporate job to building a successful copywriting business. Laura shares with me all about her journey, restructuring her family life to make room for her business, fulfilling her dream of taking her kids to Disneyworld and celebrating all the little “Gold Medal moments” along the way! When she first went self-employed, she started out doing by-the-hour freelance work for agencies that were all run by men and was so lonely she joined FEA. In this podcast, Laura and I chat about: Her journey from corporate jobs, into freelancing agencies and finally managing her own successful business and fulfilling her goal of taking her kids to Disneyworld. The gap in the market she identified in the copywriting industry and how she discovered a way to serve people in a more effective (and profitable) way that also made her happier. How she first got started and discovered that she had to charge more. Her struggle with feeling like other people seemed to be achieving success so much more quickly and easily than her. All the friends she made through the Members’ Club and the part they have played in her life and business. How she restructured her family life to make room for her business and what her day looks like now. Her dreams and goals and how she balances between dreaming big for the future and being grateful for what she has created up to now. Her love for sport and how she celebrates and acknowledges her little wins through “Gold Medal Moments”. Laura’s top tips for success are: Don’t panic if you feel like everything around you is going the wrong way, it’s not a sign that you’re failing. A lot of times if you’re tired or overwhelmed, you’re looking at things from the wrong perspective and you just need to take a break or talk to someone about it who understands (like your online business friends!). Don’t read too much into it when you feel like “I can’t do this anymore”. Give yourself a break and things will seem a lot better when you come back to them with fresh eyes. 57: Carrie's Tips - Creating a Goal Folder
When I was a kid growing up, my dad used to tell me, “Decide what you want and write it down”, and so I created a Goal Folder! My Goal Folder became a storage space for all of my biggest dreams as a teenager. I would write down the things that I really wanted at that time, without limiting myself by what was “realistic” or “sensible”, and then use cuttings and illustrations to create a physical scrapbook of what I wanted my life to look (and smell) like. I just see this as a bit of fun, but it’s a bit of fun that’s actually very powerful. My goals have changed a bit since creating this first goal folder, but the point is that it’s all about intention-setting. You need to get really aligned with your personal and business goals; articulate them; get them out of your head and into the physical world and then use them as your North Star, so that you have something tangible to work towards. This is something that I would highly recommend doing to anyone with big dreams. This is how I would go about it: - Have a dreaming day and connect with what you want to make happen in your life. - Get proactive. Write down the things that you want. - Create an energy of success around your goal folder. - Keep coming back to your goal folder to remind yourself of the things you want to achieve. The biggest things she did when she started out that helped her make so much progress, including not being afraid of hearing the word “no” and getting rejected. Her ethical and collaborative approach to business and how this helped set her apart in her industry. The tragic diagnosis her daughter received a few years ago and how Christine maintained a six-figure income throughout the entire ordeal, while witnessing other parents in the same situation having to quit their job and dealing with financial disaster. 55: Making Your Business Work Through The Ups And Downs with Louise Luton - Success Stories
Sometimes even a job you once loved is no longer the right fit. This is exactly what happened to Louise Luton, who, after 20 years of teaching art and drama, started struggling with the pressure she was facing and having to deal with crippling anxiety. She decided she had to make a change, and despite the common misconception that you can’t make money as an artist, Louise was an artist at heart and decided she would figure out how to make it work, so she set out to build her business, Louise Luton Art. Louise started seeing a return and her business going from strength to strength within six months. She later decided she needed to uplevel her business again and that’s when she read She Means Business and eventually joined the Members’ Club. Saldy, the tragic loss of her father stopped her in her tracks and she went through a period where she felt she couldn’t go on growing the business. This is where Louise says the community and support she received from the members of the Members’ Club was indispensable, helping her realise that she was strong enough to keep going, step by step, growing the business and honouring her father through her art. In this podcast, Louise and I chat about: Her beautiful art and how she has created multiple sources of revenue through her website, art galleries and by visiting art fairs. How being a successful artist means you also have to manage the business aspect. Louise shares how she managed to make it work when she first started and the important part that the Members’ Club has played in keeping her going and growing. The crisis of confidence and the mindset struggles she faced when she first started, being scared to approach galleries and charging too much for her art. The three essential aspects of her business and how she manages each one. The struggle she faced to continue working on her business after the loss of her father and how the support of other members from inside the Members’ Club helped her make it through. How she adapted the traditional business plan for her own needs and how she uses the Members’ Club monthly Goal Setting and Planning workshops to review and plan ahead. A recent business award she won, which has continued to increase her confidence and encourage her to grow the business further. Her exciting plans for the year ahead, including an inspirational trip to Kenya and being featured in galleries in major cities in the UK and US. Louise’s top tips for success are: No matter what you’re facing, remember the importance of working on your business “little and often” - accept that you can’t do everything today, but you can do SOMETHING today so just keep chipping away at your idea until you get there Once your business is up and running, make sure you’re reviewing your results from month to month. Identify the patterns in your own business and use them to make better decisions and create more success. When you’re just starting out, focus on one social media platform rather than trying to be on multiple platforms all at once. If you have an idea you love, the timing will never be right so you just have to take the plunge and give it a try now! Join a community that can give you the support you need now - you don’t have to wait until you’re on top, join when you really need the help!

53: The Power Of Relentless Perseverance with Kc Rossi - Success Stories
If you’ve gone from business idea to business idea and still struggling to make it work, then this podcast episode will give you all the motivation you need to hang in there and keep persevering. In it I chat with Kc Rossi, one of our amazing FEA members, who worked her way through an incredible nine different business ideas in four years, only for the 10th idea to finally take off! Kc is a business coach who helps female entrepreneurs (mostly in the Holistic field) create online courses so they can have a bigger impact and make more income, as well as building a business around their life so they can avoid burning out. She started her entrepreneurial journey at just 19 years old, when, along with her business partner, she tried everything from jewellery to house painting. After almost giving up, she decided to give it one final go, starting a handmade confections company, which took off and grew beyond her wildest dreams to hit seven figures. Kc joined the FEA Members’ Club in order to be part of an engaging community of thriving women who truly support one another. She says she has made amazing connections and loves using the accountability partner feature to meet women with the same mindset, that get as excited as her when it comes to chatting about conversion rates and lead magnets! Sold it in 2011 and she started looking at other businesses in interests she likes. She became a certified aromatherapist and a certification for mind-body eating. In those realms she noticed that there were wonderful people that were going from a corporate job into a passion project. They would graduate from these certification courses without any business skills and land into a “now what?” phase. In this podcast, Kc and I discuss: Her journey through nine different business ideas before she managed to make the 10th one work and what happened when it all took off. The importance of giving your ideas and projects time to grow and gain momentum. How she found a gap in the market for her next idea after selling her first successful company, that revolved around her passion. The fear she had to deal with when transitioning from being behind the scenes of a brand and part of a partnership to being the solo face of her business. How this helped her break out of her shell and drop the “introvert” label, which she had hidden behind for so long. Kc shares the personal and spiritual work she had to do to get out of her own way and how she dealt with the fear of “Going Live” every day. Overcoming that internal tug-of-war when you discover your potential but can’t seem to do anything about it and you’re standing in your own way. How struggle is simply an inevitable part of the process for most solopreneurs and how it helps us develop empathy, clarity and gratitude. One of her biggest wins with recently landing a dream client. How to respect the hustle at the beginning of building a business and the need to then look at ways of reducing the workload to avoid burning out. 52: Creating a Mantra for the Year!
The New Year is nearly here, and one of the things I most love to do before I start a new year is to create a mantra for the year! It's so helpful to have a go-to saying for the year that you can keep coming back to when things get difficult and you're struggling to remember the purpose behind what you're doing. The idea is to centre your thoughts around one phrase that can help you to keep pushing forward in order to create the success that you want over the course of the year, but it can also just be a lot of fun to play around with creating your own mantra! I'd really encourage you to give this a go yourself - think about what's been most bothering you or holding you back in 2019 and have a go at creating a mantra in response to that problem. And if you're struggling with the exact wording, feel free to pinch one of the mantras that I've given here! 51: How To Build The Lifestyle Business Of Your Dreams with Sophie Le Brozec - Success Stories
If you’ve ever dreamed of starting an online business so that you could live and work from a remote, tropical island heaven, then this episode will give you some serious inspiration! In it I catch up with an incredible member from the Members’ Club, Sophie Le Brozec! Sophie and her husband decided to leave London in search of sunnier climes, and with the knowledge that they could run their online businesses from anywhere in the world, they moved to the gorgeous island of Mauritius. Sophie is the founder of Life Reboot Camp, an online program and community that helps women get the most and the best out of their life. When she was 17, Sophie would joke that her dream was to live on a French-speaking tropical island. Fast forward to the present day, and she now lives that exact dream! With a little help from her husband, who was always interested in entrepreneurship, Sophie shed her mindset that a traditional, “stable” job is best and that building your own business is “dangerous”. She started with a mummy blog during her pregnancy in 2012 and from there, discovered the limitless opportunities of the online world. That’s when she joined the Members’ Club, which Sophie says helped her stumble upon her current business idea, which had always been the missing piece of the puzzle. She launched her business two months after joining and has since created amazing success! In this podcast, Sophie and I discuss: Her journey from living in the South of France, on to London and then to running an online business from Mauritius. The epiphany she had a month after joining FEA and how she launched her business idea only a month after that. How she surrendered control before she had clarity around her business and simply trusted that the information she needed would come to her. The fears she had to overcome as she started putting herself and her business out there and being really vulnerable with what she was sharing. The incredible way her business has grown since launching in February 2018 and how she has since written a book and hosted a retreat in the UK. The reaction and self-assurance she had after the first sale from someone she didn’t know! The internal work she had to do on herself when all she wanted to do was run and hide shortly after launching her business as she feared being judged. Why having an online community of like-minded women is so important to her. Her incredible journey to writing her book: How To Be Happy...No Matter What Sh!t Life Throws At You, which talks about all the difficult experiences she’s gone through and the tools she learnt to overcome unhappiness. Sophie’s top tips for success are: Anything bad that happens is there for a reason - it’s a learning experience or something that you need to go through to experience something better. When you’re trying to figure out what the next step is, don’t get too consumed with what other people have done and what the “right” thing is - think about what YOU want and how you’re going to make it happen. Don’t listen too much to other people’s thoughts, many times they are simply projecting their own insecurities onto you. Don’t accept “societal norms” if you are unhappy. Life is not about sitting up and putting up, because that’s “just the way it is”. You have complete control of your life and your happiness so decide what will make you happy and do it.
