Book Brief: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Today I want to share with you a book I recently listened to called “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear.” The book was written by best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert (who you may know as the author of “Eat Pray Love”). I listened to the Audible book, and Liz narrated it. She has a really warm, lovely voice, and I really enjoyed listening to her. What You'll Learn:- How our culture tends to have us leave the joyful activities of childhood behind when we transition into adulthood- How to approach fear when embarking on something new- How Liz pictures fear (as a Certified Fearless Living Coach and Certified Fearless Trainer, I found her description to be hilarious and very fitting!)- How to approach challenges in a joyful way- The importance of accessing our inner self to achieve balance and purposeOverall, throughout the book, she talks about being creative, curious, and trusting yourself, which are things I’ve been focused on accessing more myself, as well as helping my clients with. Perfectly Imperfect
Today, I want to share with you some ways imperfection is beautiful, magical, and natural—in other words, how imperfection is actually perfect.I am a recovering perfectionist. And I’m willing to bet that you are likely also someone who has let perfectionism suck up your time or energy in various ways. Have you ever thought about that before—that perfectionism has kept you from doing things you’d really like to do?What You'll Learn:- How perfectionism can prevent us from achieving balance and happiness- The concept of the divine proportion or golden ratio and how it demonstrates perfection in imperfection- The concept of mental Saboteurs and how they can sabotage our efforts to live a balanced life- Strategies for overcoming perfectionism and embracing imperfection in your life- The importance of setting healthy boundaries and letting go of the need for everything to be perfectI invite you to go for “good enough” and embrace imperfection everywhere you can, especially when it comes to how you are living your life. If you keep trying to hold yourself and your life to some perfect vision, you’re going to keep disappointing yourself, and you’re going to miss out on the magic that shows up when you start seeing your life as “perfectly imperfect.”Resources: - Get my FREE 6-minute training ‘Your First Step to Better Life Balance’ https://charisyourlife.com/freetraining - Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/charisyourlife - Follow me on Facebook: https://facebook.com/charisyourlife/ - Follow me on LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/charisyourlife/- Follow me on YouTube: https://charisyourlife.com/youtube/- Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/charisyourlife/- Follow me on Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/charisyourlife/- My website: https://charisyourlife.com/

Let's Talk About Sleep
Let’s talk about sleep!Since we officially entered winter, I feel like I’ve taken on the energy of the bear and really have felt the need to hibernate in my own way, which means sleeping more, going to bed earlier, and taking more naps. I’ve never been a night owl, and I’ve always felt like I needed more sleep than everyone around me. Heck, even in my childhood, I’d be with a group of friends watching a movie, and I’d notoriously fall asleep part-way through—and it didn’t matter how action-packed the movie was—I would konk out. For most of my adult years, my normal bedtime was normally 9:30 to 10. My husband and I would even jokingly refer to 10 pm being “Pumpkin Time” for me. But for the past month, I’ve been going to bed earlier, and it’s been a game-changer.Maybe you’re not an early bird, and you’re more of a night owl—either way, in this episode, I talk about the importance of sleep in maintaining balance and well-being, as well as strategies for finding the right sleep schedule for your body. Join me as I dive into the benefits of sleep and how to make it a priority in your life. What You'll Learn:- How much sleep the average American gets vs. how much they need- How sleep benefits your life balance and overall well-being- How you getting more sleep also benefits the people around you- Tips for finding your natural sleep rhythm- Strategies for improving the quality of your sleep- How finding creative solutions can help accommodate your sleep needs Resources:- Get my FREE 6-minute training, ‘Your First Step to Better Life Balance’ https://charisyourlife.com/freetraining - Follow me on Instagram: https://instagram.com/charisyourlife - Follow me on Facebook: https://facebook.com/charisyourlife/ - Follow me on LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/charisyourlife/- Follow me on YouTube: https://charisyourlife.com/youtube/- Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/charisyourlife/- Follow me on Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/charisyourlife/- My website: https://charisyourlife.com/

A New Year's Resolution Worth Making
Happy New Year! If you listened to last week’s episode, the closing quote was so good it bears repeating, and I decided to do an entire episode about it. “Every year, you make a resolution to change yourself. This year, make a resolution to be yourself.” – Unknown authorIt’s amazing how simple it sounds to just “be ourselves.” Yet, in reality, it can be really hard to actually “be” ourselves because we have decades of habitual behaviors that our brains have wired as our norm. In this episode, I share some ways we can practice truly being ourselves. What You’ll Learn:- What it truly means to be yourself- How to determine if you really are being yourself- Simple yet effective practices that help you rediscover yourself If you take regular small steps toward rediscovering yourself and get some support along the way, it is absolutely possible to be yourself more and more. And this results in feeling more balanced, more joyful, and more peace of mind.
