SP34 - Mathieu Jang | Barefoot Parkour

Mathieu Jang is an OG from Hong Kong living and studying in Los Angeles. In the last year or so, he has exploded on social media and amassed a following of over 330k since doubling down on uploading the niche of barefoot parkour. That, coupled with the long hair and bare chest, made for a fairly unique urban Tarzan-esque spectacle that continues to go viral. Mathieu and Callum speak about the pros and cons of training barefoot and diving into some strength and conditioning talk. SP32 - Giles Campbell Longley | From Motus to Storror (with Drew, Toby & Callum)

Giles has been involved in parkour since 2003 and, considering he has never been the most recognised for his abilities as a practitioner, he’s an individual who has left arguably one of the biggest marks on our culture and industry. His brand, The Motus Projects has been one of the few who have led the way, but in January, Giles decided it best to put Motus to bed due to struggles to see any viable way to keep the company going and support himself and his athletes under the brand. But, the good news is, Giles’s expertise and experience in our industry will be put to great use as he has been hired by us at Storror to help strengthen much of what goes on behind the scenes of the company. SP31 - PPP3 | Cavemen 5, Storror Awards oversights and biases (with Max, Benj & Callum)

Max and Benj talk you through Cavemen 5 with a running commentary, including breakdowns of lines, stories from filming and an insight into their process for making this series. (Commentary segment is definitely better with visuals on our YouTube Join page!) For the first half an hour, we speak about the 2022 Storror Awards in hindsight, addressing some oversights and criticisms we received. SP30 - STORROR AWARDS 2022 Decisions (with the whole team)

It’s the same deal as last year. Before heading to the studio to film the awards video, all of us get together to hash out our decisions for all 18 categories after a year of watching the parkour community with a close eye. You already know who won, but here’s a little insight into our decisions and how chaotic the process is! SP29 - Lynn Jung Dishes the Dirt | Storm Freerun, injuries, jobs & gender (with Tom Taylor & Callum)

Lynn Jung is a trailblazer and a longstanding fixture in the parkour world. She was a member of Storm Freerun from 2015 up until they mysteriously fizzled out in 2020. She’s got more professional parkour work experience than most parkourists. With her unique experience and perspective, she has a load of knowledge to give and a load of dirt to dish. SP28 - Pete Whittaker | Where Climbing & Parkour collide (with Toby & Callum)

Pete Whittaker is a professional climber. We recently collaborated on a video to see if he could out hang the whole Storror team, relaying one after another, hanging from a bridge over icy cold water. You probably saw already that he thrashed us! Holding on for a full 25 minutes! In this episode, we chat about Pete’s introduction to parkour and how he’s freakishly above the level you’d expect to see after three days of training. We talked about Toby’s adventures rock climbing with Pete in Norway as well as some of the similarities between parkour and climbing and how parkourists could benefit from introducing some bouldering to complement their parkour training. SP27 - FIG Debate | Damien Puddle, Parkour Earth CEO & Nicolas Fischer, FIG Parkour head judge

A little backstory: Since February 24th, 2017, Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (aka FIG) have been engaging in a hostile takeover of parkour’s sovereignty, with the intention of offering our sport to the International Olympic Committee as a new gymnastics event. In doing so, they also make a claim to being our international governing body, which in essence, imbues them with power to govern our sport however suits them. Despite a large kickback from the parkour community and several open letters from national governing bodies around the world, concerns fell upon deaf ears. There have been many international and national competitions held by FIG since 2017 (which initially offered money merely for attending competitions), and although early on, you’d have been viewed as “public enemy number 1”, now more and more cowing to FIG for the chance of winning the highest prize money we’ve seen in our sport’s history. Parkour Earth is a federation that spawned shortly after FIG’s initial announcements in 2017 in an effort to safeguard the sport’s autonomy against FIG’s unlawful encroachment. Parkour Earth is comprised of several existing national governing bodies and seeks to represent the parkour community through a sound democratic process. But they certainly face an uphill battle waging war with FIG, which is an established, over one-hundred-year-old federation with deep pockets and deep ties to the International Olympic Committee. The whole situation has become somewhat polarising. The global parkour community seems either vociferously against FIG and its governance along with its poorly representative competitions, for FIG on the basis of believing their resources can be of great use to our professionals and boost funding and participation in our sport, or entirely indifferent – those who don’t care because it doesn’t affect how they train in the street. This includes those who don’t know or care about the risks who are engaging with FIG by attending their competitions for a chance to win some prize money. Arguing for FIG, we have their head judge, Nicolas Fischer. Arguing against FIG, we have Parkour Earth CEO, Damien Puddle. Hopefully, this informal discussion helps bring some clarity to the community and allows people to make more informed decisions. SP26 - CAPSTONE ROUNDTABLE | SWARM with Sam Carter, Justin Louey, Joe Scandrett, Jannis Schauer, Phil Doyle, Drew Taylor & Sacha Powell

Capstone just released its third iconic project, Swarm, which features a mixture of the teams from both previous projects, Capstone Australia and The England Project, as well as some new special guests. In this episode, we have some of the athletes, as well as the brains behind Capstone, Phil Doyle and the Aussie duo Sam Carter and Justin Louey. In the second half, we do a director and cast commentary while watching Swarm, so if you’re a joiner on the Storror YouTube, it’s best to watch there for images up on the screen, so you’re not just guessing what we’re talking about.
