Ep. 1891 Giulia Castagner | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon

Welcome to this special episode of the Italian Wine Podcast, Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon. Today, he is interviewing Giulia Castagner of Distilleria Castagner.More about today’s wineryMaster Distiller Roberto Castagner has been distilling Grappa since 1996. The family mission is to transform Italy’s traditional Grappa into a modern international spirit. Between Venice and the Dolomites, the distillery sits on the slopes of the Conegliano hills in the Province of Treviso, a strategically important area for the region's wine- growing. The Castagner family distillery is now one of the leading and most innovative distilleries in Italy. Giulia is Roberto Castagner's second daughter. With her siblings Silvia and Giovanni and her cousin Carlo she represents the second generation of the company. Before graduating in Marketing Management at Bocconi University in Milan, she moved to Boston MA where she worked as an intern for a wine and spirits importer/retailer. Meanwhile, she took the chance to write her graduate thesis (in quantitative methods), investigating the reasons why Italian restaurants in Boston (and in the US) don't actually propose grappa as the Italian spirit par excellence. When she came back to her hometown she worked for a couple of years in the fashion industry, then she decided to join the family business where she is in charge of the Sales and Marketing Deptartment. She strongly believes that in order to (re)promote grappa culture abroad, grappa distilleries need to communicate together the great product evolution they have witnessed over the last 20 years. With this in mind, she co-founded the Grappa Revolution: a group of ten major grappa distilleries that work together to promote modern grappa culture.Connect:Website: www.grappacastagner.it/ Instagram: grappacastagnerFacebook: Distilleria CastagnerConnect:Instagram / Facebook / Linkedin : Giulia Castagner More about the host Marc Millon:Marc Millon, VIA Italian Wine Ambassador 2021, has been travelling, eating, drinking, learning and writing about wine, food and travel for nearly 40 years.
