But giving up the search is easier said than done. For example, Jesus tells us that everyone who comes to earth or comes to time and space will seek because they believe they're lacking something. And believing in lack means believing in the ego. So they take on a mask, a personality self, and at some point, they give the mask identity of a seeker. How funny, a mask seeking. In reality, it's the sleeping mind that needs help, and when invited, the Holy Spirit comes rushing into our mind to save the day, bring us to true happiness, and be the bridge back to eternity. It's not that you have to search in the world for anything. It's unnecessary to seek for love; your task is to strive to remove the barriers to love's presence. And that's what this inward journey is about. And that's what this closing session is about. How do we surrender to this great call of love that is calling us home without fighting it and resisting it? David Hoffmeister "Salvation is No Compromise" - Talk at the Monastery, July 26, 2022Jesus says in A Course in Miracles that Salvation is no compromise of any kind. It seems to be such a non-compromising teaching, and when you read in the course's workbook, The Truth is true, and only the Truth is true. That sounds very non-compromising. And Jesus continues, You have to accept both aspects of this statement to realize what I'm talking about. You have to understand the first aspect, the Truth is true, and you have to understand the second aspect that only the Truth is true to experience eternal life. The ego's belief system is a compromise on our identity. It's a belief we're something we're not that makes you experience a world in which separation, duality, and opposites are seemingly real. None of the world's laws would make sense without believing in opposites. It's not necessarily saying that you have to follow people in the world because it's your mind that needs guidance. And the guidance can come in all kinds of ways, through dream symbols, bumper stickers, billboards, or talking to your mother, father, or a family member. It can come when you're talking to your cat or your dog. But when you say I will step back and let Him lead the way, you're saying, I don't want to personally be in charge of my plan of awakening because the personality self, the persona, is part of the problem. So you can't rely on the problem to bring you the solution, but you can say, Holy Spirit, Jesus, I will step back and let you lead the way. You use the personality self. You use everything in time and space to bring me to a leaping-off point where I remember that I'm still as God created me.
