David Hoffmeister - Where Is This All Going? - Talk at the Monastery on September 5, 2022The belief in choice is unconscious for most people. In the world, the choice is considered a positive thing. And the more choices, the better. It's associated with lots of things. Freedom, happiness, joy, and peace, but it's not the choice or the choices of this world that bring freedom or happiness and peace.What Jesus means by choice is that the greatest gift God bestowed on his son, referring to the sleeping Christ, is that the mind that changed into believing it could be something other than what God created can now switch back into accepting what God did create. From a personality identity to a spirit identity, to an I Am identity, to an eternal identity. So that's what the whole point is. Jesus is asked the question in the Course How will the world end? He answers the question with a question. Can what has no beginning have an end? So you can see from the perspective of the spirit that it's just about undoing the question, How will the world end? Can what has no beginning have an end? That's the question that comes back from Jesus. Clearly. He's pointing us to undoing the question because who we are is not a question mark. Who we are is a reality. And Jesus would say, who cares? Do you believe in the future, or will you be with me right now? Isn't it enough to be with me right now? It is enough. It is enough. When you suddenly realize that Jesus is literally arranging time and space and taking care of everything and always has and always will. Then you know that there's never been a time when we personally did anything important or unimportant. There's never been a time when we messed it up or did it right. He's telling us that you're not the doer or the body. God didn't create the body. Opening Session - Miracles are Involuntary - Tabula Rasa Online Retreat with David Hoffmeister and Frances XuTo the extent that you believe in linear time and the lack and scarcity and conflict of the ego, to that extent, there's a heaviness built into the human condition, and yet the prayer is always to the Holy Spirit; Lift me up, lift me higher and higher. Lift us up where we belong like in the Joe Cocker song; Love lifts us up where we belong. So that's the prayer of our hearts. In the beginning, anything that we've been hanging on to seems to come up from the unconscious, and at first, it's a little intense to see, oh, my gosh, these defense mechanisms that I've been holding on to must be defending something that's not real. Because Spirit doesn't need defense, Spirit just is. So it must be that the ego self-concept, made as a substitute identity, is a heavy armature around it. So when we become aware of the defense mechanisms, which can feel intense because we tend to judge ourselves, questions arise; Why would I do this to myself? I love myself; why would I do this? But then we realize it's just coming into awareness, so we can let it go, and we start to get lighter, like, oh, okay, I get it. Let it up and let it go. It can really touch your heart. It can help activate the love inside because the theme that runs through this episode is the most profound teachings of A Course in Miracles. In the workbook, Jesus says, Time is a trick, a sleight of hand in which figures seem to come and go, and then he says that we are but reviewing mentally what has already gone by. This world was over long ago. There is a point where the question is put to Jesus in the workbook; How will the world end? Wow, that's an interesting question that's been bounced around for quite a few centuries. How will the world end? Netflix Series "Another Self Episode 5 & 6" Experiencing the Power of Forgiveness with David Hoffmeister - A Weekly Movie WorkshopExperiencing the power of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not personal. People don't forgive other people. No matter what we've believed, we don't forgive other people. Our mind needs to forgive people or projections of the ego. So when you're trying to forgive a person and have difficulty forgiving a particular person, that's because forgiveness is for the mind. It's not for people. In fact, when you forgive, you laugh at the idea of people. You think, Oh, I was obsessed with people.The ego made this world of time and space to keep you mindless. So when we're praying to experience the power of forgiveness, what we're starting to pray for is to help me remember the power of my mind. Help me, Holy Spirit, to remember the power of my thoughts because the thoughts that are real are the thoughts I think with God; they are eternal thoughts. Forgiveness is of the present moment, where you see the false as false. It's very peaceful because you're not attempting to make the false true. When your personal identity kicks in, you get caught up in pride, self-righteousness, and wanting to be right. That's not the pathway to happiness. Netflix Series "Another Self Episode 3 & 4" Pray, Be Patient and Let the Healing Happen with David Hoffmeister - A Weekly Movie WorkshopThe series we're following is called AnotherSelf. It refers to your Higher Self that's inside, within your mind, the self of pure love, light, and joy. Yet, the selves we have believed in say we're personalities and bodies. It seems radical to think that the body is not real, and Jesus knows that that's pretty radical for a sleeping mind. So he's saying, "Well, why not just think of the body as a symbol then?" Maybe you can be open to the body just being a symbol of your mind awakening, where you start to give it a temporary meaning of being a witness, like an angel or a blessing. So you begin to look around and see, whatever bodies you still perceive, you see them as angels, like you're surrounded by angels everywhere. It's not true in any real sense because you're the Christ but in a temporary sense, isn't it better to look at people as angels that are just showing you what you believe? Star Trek - Strange New Worlds - Children of the Comet - Movie Gathering at the Monastery with David HoffmeisterThe beautiful thing about mysticism is that once you have had One recognition, your experience will start to move in the direction of gentleness, and the One recognition you have to have to move in that direction is I can be hurt by nothing but my thoughts. People aren't really people! If you're upset with certain relationships, politicians, or things happening in the world, you just haven't yet embraced the idea. When you identify with your attack thoughts, you can expect intensity, drama, conflict, fear, and doubt, and when you start to realize that this world is a world of thought, your purpose is to forgive those thoughts and disengage from them. Then you move into what Jesus calls the work; I can escape from the world I see by giving up attack thoughts, and that's what the mystical journey is about.
