So the whole message of A Course in Miracles is, "Hallelujah, there's only one of us. There's always only been one of us.That one of us is a Christ ideal; forgive everything you've ever learned from history or everything you've ever believed, and accept ourselves as the living Christ. That is what reality is. Realize I no longer want to try to control this world - Online Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister.I think some of you realize deep down that you can't control the world, but you are still trying daily. You try with people around you or your cat or dog, and you try with the environment. You try to have an opinion, and of course, it doesn't matter what that attempt is. It doesn't go very well. We are never delighted when we're trying to control the world, even when we try to control the body. Maybe you try to control the weight of your body or the shape of your body, or the look and appearance of your body: parents and children, partners and lovers, other community members. Whenever we think we can control anybody, we are lined up with the ego and won't be happy because we weren't meant to be controllers. We are terrible controllers. We can see it's been a mess, if we are honest. We're never really in control of the situation. And when we finally realize that, we forgive it and feel so happy instantly. David discusses the upcoming movie "The Truman Show" in teaching the metaphysics for spiritual Awakening through forgiveness as taught by Jesus in A Course In Miracles. (ACIM, T-23.II.14:1-8)No one can waken from a dream the world is dreaming for him. ²He becomes a part of someone else’s dream. ³He cannot choose to waken from a dream he did not make. ⁴Helpless he stands, a victim to a dream conceived and cherished by a separate mind. ⁵Careless indeed of him this mind must be, as thoughtless of his peace and happiness as is the weather or the time of day. ⁶It loves him not, but casts him as it will in any role that satisfies its dream. ⁷So little is his worth that he is but a dancing shadow, leaping up and down according to a senseless plot conceived within the idle dreaming of the world. 9. This is the only picture you can see; the one alternative that you can choose, the other possibility of cause, if you be not the dreamer of your dreams. ²And this is what you choose if you deny the cause of suffering is in your mind. ³Be glad indeed it is, for thus are you the one decider of your destiny in time. ⁴The choice is yours to make between a sleeping death and dreams of evil or a happy wakening and joy of life. (ACIM, T-27.VII.8:1–9:4)This world is full of miracles. ²They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering, of sin and guilt. ³They are the dream’s alternative, the choice to be the dreamer, rather than deny the active role in making up the dream. (ACIM, T-28.II.12:1-3) . Do you believe that truth can be but some illusions? ²They are dreams because they are not true. ³Their equal lack of truth becomes the basis for the miracle, which means that you have understood that dreams are dreams; and that escape depends, not on the dream, but only on awaking. ⁴Could it be some dreams are kept, and others wakened from? ⁵The choice is not between which dreams to keep, but only if you want to live in dreams or to awaken from them. (ACIM, T-29.IV.1:1-5)How happy would your dreams become if you were not the one who gave the “proper” role to every figure which the dream contains. ²No one can fail but your idea of him, and there is no betrayal but of this. ³The core of dreams the Holy Spirit gives is never one of fear. ⁴The coverings may not appear to change, but what they mean has changed because they cover something else. ⁵Perceptions are determined by their purpose, in that they seem to be what they are for. ⁶A shadow figure who attacks becomes a brother giving you a chance to help, if this becomes the function of the dream. ⁷And dreams of sadness thus are turned to joy. (ACIM, T-29.IV.5:1-7)It never is the idol that you want. ²But what you think it offers you, you want indeed and have the right to ask for. ³Nor could it be possible it be denied. ⁴Your will to be complete is but God’s Will, and this is given you by being His. ⁵God knows not form. ⁶He cannot answer you in terms that have no meaning. ⁷And your will could not be satisfied with empty forms, made but to fill a gap that is not there. ⁸It is not this you want. ⁹Creation gives no separate person and no separate thing the power to complete the Son of God. ¹⁰What idol can be called upon to give the Son of God what he already has? 5. Completion is the function of God’s Son.(ACIM, T-30.III.4:1–5:1)Jesus is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, Whom he called down upon the earth after he ascended into Heaven, or became completely identified with the Christ, the Son of God as He created Him. ²The Holy Spirit, being a creation of the one Creator, creating with Him and in His likeness or spirit, is eternal and has never changed. ³He was “called down upon the earth” in the sense that it was now possible to accept Him and to hear His Voice. ⁴His is the Voice for God, and has therefore taken form. ⁵This form is not His reality, which God alone knows along with Christ, His real Son, Who is part of Him. I will heal as I let him teach me to heal.' So whenever Jesus puts the words 'truly helpful' in a prayer, that's an interesting, open-ended prayer that means we have to unlearn a lot of our beliefs and thoughts, which the ego believes is truly helpful, and let the Holy Spirit replace it. For most of us, when we're going through trials, challenges, and tribulations, we doubt there is a plan. We seriously doubt it. We think this is madness. The world is madness. And if there is a plan, it's a mystery to me. That is the human perspective. We like the idea of happiness.
