#128 You don't start a business and hope for the best with Grace Gimson
#128 – Grace Gimson – You don’t start a business and hope for the best. Grace Gimson is the Co Founder of Holly health which is a digital health App. Grace joins me on the podcast today to talk about Holly Health, how it all started, what she wants to achieve and how she met her Co Founder and it’s a fantastic working relationship. “I like many people kind of focused fully in on work and forgot about looking after my physical and mental wellbeing, which I think is the norm to be honest across this country. I think it's standard for us to feel like we're too busy to really take care of ourselves, and so the culture was actually - work as many hours as you possibly can, and that will equal better long-term output. I do not think that's the case. It's taken me probably a little while to learn that, but of course we're building a health company as well. So we have some of these values and views in the team inherently, but our culture is very much look after yourself, look after your mental wellbeing and keep active. And the output of your work delivery is actually much stronger. So we take a lot of care to have a fairly flexible working structure and working day”. Jennifer Neff is the Co Founder of Elemental Software - A social prescribing platform. Jennifer joins me on the podcast today to talk about Elemental’s journey, how it all started, Feeling underestimated and how she deals with getting distracted. “ When you win a category, like the Enterprise Software category, you're thinking, wow, we're actually a real software company! I remember people saying, well, what do community development workers know about software? And then I was at an event and someone looked at me and she said, What does a software company know about community development? And I said, wow, this is actually a compliment. Thank you so much! I think when we were recognised in that format we knew then that it was definitely going to happen”.
