#133 Lesson Learnt from Letting People Go

#133 Lessons learnt from letting people go  In this solo episode, I am going to be talking with you and sharing with you, my experience and lessons learned of letting people go from the business.  The reason why I'm sharing this with you is that in the six years to date that I've been in business, I have let people go due to redundancy and in preparing for these really difficult conversations, I was scouring the internet to try to find how to make somebody redundant and what to do when you need to let someone go and there are millions of articles, but the majority are written from a place of somebody teaching you the textbook way of how to do it. But what I was looking for was to hear of a business owner that had done it themselves, and I hope this podcast helps you should you find yourself in this situation.  Topics to listen out for;  What is best for the business?  What does this business need to grow?  What people do we need on the team?  What financially makes sense?  What is preventing me from taking the next step?  Mentions in the podcast  Stacking your Team Podcast with Shelli Warren  The Business of Healthcare #46 The bearer of bad news episode    Work with me  If this podcast resonated with you, and you are a healthcare professional requiring some dedicated time to help you work through some of the challenges around building your business and selling your services, I would love to help you. Click here to work with me or email me at admin@thcprimarycare.co.uk.  For more weekly insights and advice sign up to my newsletter.  Improving the Business of Healthcare – One Episode at a Time   Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of the Business of Healthcare Podcast. #129 What it takes to confidently work across multiple organisations

#129 What it takes to confidently work across multiple organisations. In this episode I wanted to talk you through and share some advice on what it takes to confidently work across multiple organisations.  Back in episode 26, I talked you through the role of the clinical lead that is spearheading a service, a project or healthcare network. - click here to listen to this episode. I also wrote a blog titled - The role of a network lead. Click here to read. I talk about the leadership mindset, vision and the work required behind the scenes.   In this episode What is the role of the network manager?  I work in the role of primary care in primary care networks. However, this podcast is honestly applicable to any management role. And I learned a lot of this when I worked in a university as a business development manager.  It doesn't really matter where you are, it's the skills and how you apply them to your area of work. The role of a manager supporting their clinical lead, I believe needs to be a master facilitator. They are the person that your clinical lead will look to. You're just behind them. You're their best supporting actor or actress. You're there to help. Sometimes you may chair the meeting or you are the double act to the chair in a meeting. You're really good at gaining consensus. You're really good at uncovering the things that's not being said.  Topics to listen out for  Looking at things with an entrepreneurial lens.  Be the Leader & Driver.  You can not do this job if negative feedback is going to cripple you.  Learn from other Business Leaders.   Links to items discussed in the Podcast.   Paper - We are all boundary spanners now   If you have any problems accessing the paper, please let me know and I can share it with you directly.
