EP204: Do you need to see through a story to let it go? A question from a listener.
This week’s episode is my response to a listener who has repeated physical symptoms like head pain and fatigue. She would like to not have those symptoms any longer. She suspects there is an unhelpful story she’s believing, which she’s unaware of and must have been around for years, behind the pain. If she doesn’t see through the story, how can she let it go?And if she can’t let it go, is she in for a lifetime of pain? There is so much to explore in this excellent question! EP203: Mitigating climate change with a shift in consciousness with Malene Colotla
In this episode I talk with certified Change Coach Malene Colotla about the interconnectedness in all of life. We are all the whole. The human world, the animal and plant world, the physical world….all the way down, one single system. In this discussion, Malene shares how seeing that interconnectedness is what can naturally make way for us to have a very different relationship with this planet. The planet is us, after all. Behavior change happens quite naturally as we deeply realize our oneness. And, failing to see our interconnectedness, naturally leads to the behaviors that hurt our planet and ourselves (you can’t hurt one without hurting the other). Malene and I discuss systems thinking, environmental anxiety, and opening our mind to a far bigger view of things. I love that the things that will save the planet are the exact same things that save each one of us. Mitigating climate change is no different from leaving behind an unwanted habit. They both come from a shift in consciousness. To see more about Malene and her private coaching, visit www.reimaginext.com. She’s an excellent coach who I highly recommend! And to see more about the A Common Earth programs discussed in this episode, visit https://www.commonearth.com/The post EP203: Mitigating climate change with a shift in consciousness with Malene Colotla appeared first on Dr. Amy Johnson.

EP202: Practices
In this episode I share 6 practices you can experiment with. Six ways to play with feeling into the space beyond thought. Some of them are triggered by suffering. Some lead you to zoom way in, others to zoom way out. Some have you play with sensory information, some with sensation and emotion, and one is a simple question. None of them are necessary for any end, they are just practices you might choose to play with if they resonate with you. Many of them, for me, are things I’ve experimented with at times that, over time, have come to be more spontaneous than “practiced”. The post EP202: Practices appeared first on Dr. Amy Johnson.

EP201: How understanding why we do our habit can lead to instant freedom with Horton McCormick
Horton is a Change Coach and Allen Carr practitioner who works primarily with people who want to stop drinking. In this conversation, he shares two major shifts in his own life that led him to the work he does. The first was experiencing sudden and lasting relief from chronic back pain after reading one of Dr. Sarno’s books. The second was casually reading an Allan Carr book and experiencing an immediate disinterest in alcohol. Horton’s change experiences led him on a quest to see more about what must be true of humans for deep, lasting change to happen this way, with none of the willpower or “working on it” we’ve been told are necessary. That curiosity, and his search for a bigger understanding, is what brought him to my work. This episode is so good! Horton shares how understanding why we drink (or do any habit) is a key insight. We tend to focus on all the problems with drinking and trying to figure out how to stop, but seeing why its happening is really where it’s at.As a Change Coach, Horton comes from a deep understanding of our true nature plus his own personal experience. EP200: How planning and playing out scenarios distract from feeling
Why is our attention so easily and frequently drawn to planning and thinking about the future? Why does retreating into the world of thought feel so comfortable (even when thought is completely uncomfortable!)? It’s a well-practiced habit, no doubt. It’s familiar there. But I think there is more to it than that.In this episode, I suggest that most of our thinking about the future, planning, and playing out scenarios is an attempt to avoid emotion. We’ll explore some ways of modulating attention that allow you to more easily see where it naturally goes. ***After a very long, very virtual two years, the amazing LSBC Live event is back! EP199: When a mind is not stressed, everything is possible with Thomas Leamy
Thomas Leamy has a long history working with very high performing leaders, including leaders of world governments as well as leaders in business and industry. He used to study these incredible leaders very closely, hoping to find the magic potion that made them so effective. He watched their every move, wanting to reverse engineer them so he could share the blueprint for success.Well, the pandemic, several months on a beautiful Greek Island, complete financial and professional uncertainty, and coming across the understanding I share on this podcast showed Thomas exactly what was behind the success and effectiveness of these leaders. It’s what’s behind success and effectiveness for all people in any area of life. I highly recommend Thomas’ podcast, One Word. EP198: Life is showing you how to wake up
You already know that life is living you. Nothing is excluded from that. There is nothing we must take charge of, make happen, or figure out. Nothing we must gain clarity around. That includes–of course!–seeing more about how life is living you.It can look like there is a path.buy lipitor online https://www.mabvi.org/wp-content/themes/mabvi/images/new/lipitor.html no prescription It can look like there are better or worse things to do, people to listen to, books to read, that somehow make a difference to your exploration. There are not. It literally couldn’t be simpler or easier–life pulls us through “waking up” by our own interest and attraction to certain things.buy vardenafil online https://www.mabvi.org/wp-content/themes/mabvi/images/new/vardenafil.html no prescription I share how many insights I had years ago looked incomplete or wrong in some way at the time, and how those same insights continue to take on deeper meaning today. You can’t do anything wrong, and you don’t even have to do it.buy levitra-oral-jelly online https://www.mabvi.org/wp-content/themes/mabvi/images/new/levitra-oral-jelly.html no prescription How easy is that?!***After a very long, very virtual two years, the amazing LSBC Live event is back! EP197: How hormone changes and menopause symptoms are perfectly designed gifts with Tania Elfersy
Tania Elfersy was experiencing perimenopause symptoms for a few years. Then, she had an insight about the role of thought that led those symptoms to go away. Since then, she’s been exploring the real purpose of symptoms. Menopause and perimenopause symptoms are not a sign of something gone wrong. They aren’t problems to manage or eliminate. They are feedback that is perfectly tailored to each one of us, showing us exactly what we most need to thrive. I loved this conversation with Tania so much, in part because she makes it very clear that life happens for us. The intelligence that lives us doesn’t get it wrong. There are no boundaries to infinite intelligence (even hormones aren’t an exception!)As we see that, we begin to listen, rather than push or medicate away symptoms. This is true whether those symptoms are related to hormonal changes, anxiety, depression, habits and addictions, or anything at all. It’s all exactly the same.As you’ll hear, Tania knows so much about the way our experience works as well as about the societal stories about change and menopause that are part of our conditioning. If you’d like a really, really different experience of menopause or perimenopause, I highly recommend talking with Tania. EP196: You don’t have to sit with uncomfortable feelings
This episode was inspired by a question posted on our LSBC graduate forum. It was part of a bigger conversation about a habit that was currently feeling heavy and out of control, but the question at the very end of the thread grabbed my attention.“I think my main issue is my unwillingness to sit with the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in the moment. But how do I get to the point where I can do that?”What does it mean to “sit with the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings”? What does it mean for any of us?Is this something we need to do? Is this what paves the way for freedom from habits? What even is a thought or a feeling? Isn’t this something we should know, or at least explore, if we’re to “sit with” them?I’ll discuss these questions and many more in this episode.***After a very long, very virtual two years, the amazing LSBC Live event is back! EP195: When this message sounds cold and insensitive
I often talk about how all suffering comes from thought taken as truth. That can sometimes be heard as cold or insensitive. It looks to me like there are three primary misunderstandings at play when this message is heard in this way. Three things that are not what’s being said, but are how it is commonly heard. 1. It can be heard as negating experience (e.g., If my suffering is made of thought, you’re saying it’s not real, true, or valid) 2. It’s sometimes heard as me saying one’s experience should, or even could, be different from what it is (e.g., If this is thought, you’re saying I could just think differently and have a different experience).3. It can be heard as if one’s experience is one’s fault. (e.g., If my experience is thought, I’m guilty of creating it). Or, similarly, as if it lets others off the hook (e.g., if a Ukrainian’s experience is thought, Putin is off the hook). These are very common and very understandable. And none of them are what’s being said. ***After a very long, very virtual two years, the amazing LSBC Live event is back!
