EP224: The way out is right under your nose
I am constantly hearing from people who have tried everything. They’ve read every book, taken every course, studied every philosophy, self-help method, and religion. Many of them have been doing these things for decades. So you can imagine their surprise when their habit remains. In this episode, we’ll explore the way a mind will take us all over the world, to every teacher, every sage, spending all our time and money…when what we’re looking for is right under our nose. It’s the one thing we haven’t tried: Actually feeling what’s arising.I’ll share the question I always ask when people say they’ve tried everything to no avail, and I’ll share an email exchange I had with someone in this situation. ***Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1st I’ll be hosting a webinar where you can hear all about the Change Coach Training Program from me and from a panel of graduates. I’ll talk about the way the program works, who it’s for, and what people come away with personally and professionally. And best of all, I’ll be joined by some actual change coaches who can speak to their experience. EP223: How Life Pulls You Through with Rob Cook
Rob Cook grew up in the inner city around crime and violence. Simply by saying yes to what was presenting itself, life pulled him through to a very different way of life today. In this episode, Rob and I talk about:Saying yes to the ways life is pulling us through (and sometimes saying yes when we meant to say no!)How natural and close our human connection is and how he saw that so clearly in the Air Force basic trainingThe way we tend to naturally assume everyone else is right and we’re wrong, and how seeing that he wasn’t broken took so much weight off his shouldersHis evolution from optimizing his physical life, to his mental and emotional life, to what’s beyond even that…Rob talks about that as the Impact Zone. How we go through life hoarding “safety” when the real safety is in letting all of that goThere are so many gems in this conversation. I can’t wait to hear what stands out for you! See more about Rob at https://imrobcook.com/***Tuesday, November 1st I’ll be hosting a webinar where you can hear all about the Change Coach Training Program from me and from a panel of graduates. EP222: Looking at your darkest thoughts in a new light
In this episode I’ll share some new tools I’ve been trying out with myself and in my coaching with others. They are all about leaning into what’s arising. Looking at it. Being with it. Saying it out loud and owning it.They are all about breaking up the resistance that leads to suffering. I’ll share how I’m using these tools myself and I’ll walk through an example of how I used them with a client who was in a ton of shame and resistance. ***Do you want a life-changing experience for yourself as you learn to support others as a Change Coach? In the Change Coach Training Program, you’ll spend 6 months immersing deeply in this paradigm with me and an incredible group of people that will quickly become like family. You’ll get to observe and debrief a ton of coaching, before doing a ton of coaching yourself with support and feedback the whole way through. You will leave the program feeling confident and ready to work with others, and with the option of becoming a certified change coach. This program is unlike any other in terms of the personal feedback, guidance, and support you receive. EP221: Things can’t be other than they are
Could things have turned out differently than they did? Really look at this. Our minds are constantly talking about what should have been, what could be, how things might have turned out if xyz were different…But isn’t that pure fiction? I mean, it’s made up! Things were how they were, period. To make up a scenario where they were different is fantasy, right? If you turned right and got into an accident, you literally could not have turned left. To say you could have has nothing to do with reality. There is enormous freedom in truly seeing that things can never be different than they are. ***Do you want a free coaching session with me? Are you willing to have it shared on an episode of Changeable? EP220: Coming to terms with disappointment
In this amazing conversation, Change Coach Lindsey Eilliott shares two things in her life that she’s had to “come to terms with”: a divorce she went through several years ago, and having one child when she wanted two. In the case of the divorce, Lindsey feels completely over it. She describes an insight she had that freed her from suffering and how it did not come about because of anything she did or understood about how we work as humans. The capacity for this insight is clearly built into our design. With regard to her fertility issues, it’s still a source of emotion for Lindsey and she’s come to terms with that. It’s not buttoned up and filed away by any means and she knows it may never be. And that’s okay. This is also how “coming to terms with it” can look. There is something very clear and beautiful about how Lindsey talks about how we’re designed to come to terms with life, and how our experience of everything is subjective and untrue. Please check this one out, especially if there are things you feel you can’t, or haven’t, come to terms with. And if you could use support in this regard, contact Lindsey. She’s an extremely talented and experienced coach! https://www.lindseyelliott.co.uk/***Do you want a free coaching session with me? Are you willing to have it shared on an episode of Changeable? EP219: Something is off
Do you ever feel like something is off? That things aren’t as they appear? You missed the punchline to a joke that everyone else is in on? Me too. It’s not just you, and you’re not crazy. Something is off. It’s all off, actually.Things are not as they appear. This thought-identified experience is not the truth of things. It’s more like the dream we didn’t realize was only a dream. The clues are everywhere. This episode will help you spot them. The post EP219: Something is off appeared first on Dr. Amy Johnson.

EP218: Seeing ADHD through a much wider lens
Lisa Inlow is a Change Coach who–now, more than ever–is thriving with ADHD. As is often the case with diagnoses, it was initially a relief to Lisa to have an explanation for some of the things she struggled with. Then, as her relief began to fade, she sometimes felt boxed in by her label. All of this has changed significantly as she’s explored the understanding we share. Lisa now sees that it’s not up to her to figure life out based on what her mind is saying. She sees that life moves her forward–she doesn’t need to sort through a busy mind and take everything upon herself. She sees that much of her past struggle came from her mind telling horrible stories about her future. Lisa deeply sees that there is no future, so those stories no longer have much impact. Listen in as she shares how much quieter her mind is now, along with her insights around ADHD and her experience of anxiety. Lisa is a Change Coach who helps people with anxiety, depression, and also seeing labels like ADHD in a new way. If you’re struggling with any of these issues, I highly recommend talking with her: www.forwardwithease.comThe post EP218: Seeing ADHD through a much wider lens appeared first on Dr. Amy Johnson.

EP217: Is change up to you?
Is change up to you? What, if anything, do you really have control over? If we don’t have control, why do anything? Why talk things out in relationships in hopes of more closeness, or join The Little School of Big Change in hopes of freedom from habits? I’ll explore these excellent questions in this episode. I suggest that learning happens–the books we read, conversations we have, and courses we take do contribute to change, but that is not the same as saying that we are choosing to take these actions or that outcomes are on us. I’ll also explore one some of the huge upsides to us having no control. There are many! ***The fall 2022 guided LSBC course begins TODAY, September 12th!This is your last chance to enroll in this life-changing course. Enrollment closes at midnight eastern time on Thursday, September 15th. Students are already immersing in the curriculum and getting support on our private forum. EP216: Willpower and Shame
Trying to change through willpower has a massive downside that’s rarely discussed: shame. If we believe that change is up to us–we simply need to work hard enough or want it badly enough–that means it’s also on us when our change attempts don’t work. Believing that we make things happen in life through effort or will puts us on a pride-shame roller coaster, where our successes are personal and full of pride, and our failures are personal and full of shame. But the pride-shame roller coaster is avoidable. It is rooted in misunderstanding. Willpower was never going to lead to long-term change. We were never meant to control life through a separate, personal will. ***The Little School of Big Change Fall 2022 course begins in just 1 week, on September 12th!95% of LSBC grads say that what they learned in this course put them on the path to lasting change. We’re so confident that LSBC will help you the way it has helped so many others that we offer a money back guarantee. so you have nothing to lose. Go to https://www.thelittleschoolofbigchange.com to save your seat in the September guided course. And remember, you can save 33% on the course and also get a huge library of digital courses when you’re part of SA+. I would love to see what changes for you in these 6 weeks! The post EP216: Willpower and Shame appeared first on Dr. Amy Johnson.

EP215: Saying hello to what arises with Christina Brittain
Christina Brittain is a Change Coach who loves to notice, feel, look at, and talk about energy. She notices that there is an energy of moving experience and a somehow different, more stable and subtle energy that she calls “the energy of me”.Christina loves to swim in the energy that’s arising. She loves to say hello to it as the ultimate way to welcome it in. When we welcome energy–which can be as simple as looking toward it to say hi–there is no resistance. When there is no resistance, energy flows freely. Christina is an excellent coach who I would highly recommend checking out, especially if you’re wanting to lean into–and say hello to–what’s arising. You can see more about her and her work here: https://christinabrittain.com/***Join me this Wednesday, August 31st for a free class called A Fresh Take on Traditional Mental Health Treatment. If you’re disappointed with the results you’ve gotten from traditional psychology or medication and you’re open to a fresh alternative, you won’t want to miss this free class.Register at https://dramyjohnson.com/freshtake/.
