How To Improve Your Relationship During The Fertility Journey
Dr. Sarah Rattray joins us today as we're digging into how to improve our relationship during the fertility journey. I can’t believe I’m about to celebrate 25 years of marriage in June. We met each other at our university bar called the - The Rat (yep it was a hole in the wall). The only time I got angry with him was when I wanted to get a dog and he didn’t want one – (I’m not a big crier – but I broke down telling him I needed this dog – because we couldn’t have kids right now). Our dog Sadie came along 18 months before our daughter, Ava, and then our son Will was born 3 years later. We’ve been through a lot together and no marriage is perfect – but we continue to work on ourselves and communicate with each other. And after all these years I still laugh at his jokes, he tolerates my crazy ideas and when our dog Sadie passed away – I wanted to get another dog – 4 years later he finally relented and little Rosie joined our family – and since my husband has been working at home – this dog is his constant companion and barely notices me! Why Focusing On The Whole Body Helps To Improve Sperm Quality

Breast Implant Illness and Why This Matters if You are TTC
Sarah Phillipe joins We’re digging into breast implant illness and why this matters if you are TTC. At every birthday during my teens when I blew out my candles my wish was always to make my breasts grow. Crazy right…who said big boobs were better? I had a group of girlfriends where all of us had small boobs. And we often discussed getting implants. None of us did. I learned to love my small breasts – that would never droop/sag or interfere with my intermittent love of jogging. The American Society Of Plastics Surgeons reports that in 2018 over 313,000 breast implants, 101,000 reconstruction breast surgeries, and 27,000 breast explants (removal of breast implant) were conducted. And breast implant illness is on the rise and is often misdiagnosed or brushed aside. I recently listened to a TED talk about a woman who discussed the long list of health conditions she experienced and was told that it couldn’t be the breast implants because they were perfectly safe. She was even told to plan for her funeral – she was that sick. And when the breast implants were removed she slowly began to regain her health. What does this have to do with fertility? We have seen firsthand women being diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, diminished ovarian reserve, low AMH, high FSH, and being told that donor eggs are their only option – when no one asked them about their breast implants. Can The AIP Diet Help With Low AMH/High FSH?
Justine Altman joins us today as we’re digging into the AIP diet and what you need to know if you are TTC. We get a lot of questions about the AIP (autoimmune protocol) diet and if it is right for fertility. As you may know, we specialize in complex cases such as low AMH, high FSH, diminished ovarian reserve, and premature ovarian insufficiency. Most people who come to me are eating a “clean" diet. They’ve made the generalized recommendations for fertility but it’s still not working. We always suggest that both you and your partner start the elimination diet and then further tweak the diet with food sensitivity testing and then potentially an AIP diet if necessary. But what if you have an autoimmune disease should you consider the AIP diet? Some studies have found that 1/5 of the time premature ovarian insufficiency is actually tied to autoimmunity.
