Let’s talk about fear for a moment.Last week I climbed into a small tank full of saltwater and shut the lid behind me.There wasn’t much light inside.I couldn’t hear anything through the walls.It was my first time trying “sensory deprivation.”The idea is you lie on your back and float in the water. The high salt content keeps you from sinking. After a while, with nothing to look at and nothing to hear, you’re alone with your thoughts and your mind kind of “shuts off.”Pretty relaxing once you get into it.But here’s the thing…It was a little scary at first.I hesitated for a while before getting in.In that moment, I had to make a decision.I could say “No thanks” and back out of the whole thing……or I could step inside and experience something new and unique and transformational.That moment of “fear” is something we all experience.And if we’re not careful, the fear can take over.Fear can make all our decisions for us. It can force us to back down from what we want most. It can keep us stuck in a life we hate.
